I rang this guy today at his shop to discuss options in relation to various bows etc. Just getting Back into bow hunting after years away hunting with rifles. He was really helpful and honest. Didn’t just try to sell me the most expensive bow etc. Took the time to explain pros & cons. Would recommend. Seems to really know his stuff.

I would like to see you silence this bow as you did with the W&W Black Wolf in the Black Wolf silencing vid, and then do a head-to-head vid between the two bows. This Samick Discovery looks like a very nice alternative to the Black Wolf.

It would be great to see a speed comparison between the Samick and the black wolf and maybe a predator recurve. I cant find any vids on youtube showing arrow speeds from a black wolf through a chronograph. If you could be bothered, I would definitely like to see some comparisons.

Nice looking bow I like the matte finish and a decent price point, I haven't seen these out before. I have been happily shooting my #45 Samick Sage for years, hunting and target. For what it is worth, the Koreans are some of the most world renowned archers and I would think so are their archery products.

There are so many Chinese low cost ILF 17" risers now. How do you think they would compare?
@Buran01
@Buran01 5 жыл бұрын
Very nice looking riser and good limbs. Over the TBOW has advantage of weight and the extra screw near the rest, plus I like more the finish and color options. But has also some disadvantages: the TBOW is the Hoyt Satori rebranded (made in the same factory, outsourced), and is being selled under 200 € (the whole kit, the riser alone is under 100 €). The TBOW has also holes to place sights and 2 piece quivers. I think that Hoyt did open the Pandora Box when chose to outsource in China the crafting of some of their risers (including the carbon ones in their RX compound bows), because those factories have now the knownledge to CNC high quality risers at unbeatable prices, so even afordable brands as Samick will suffer to compete. I think that premium brands with in house crafting (like Predator) relying in hand crafting and fine wood selection will endure this storm, but between offerings as the TBOW and this Samick Discovery the market for most of the other ILF producers is over...
@cam697
@cam697 2 жыл бұрын
The Taow is not made in the same factory as the Satori. They just made a cast copy of the 19" version. The Hoyt is machined from aluminium billet, the Taow is cast ally. Still a good riser but that's because they copied a design someone else put all the research into.

Does anyone know if the stated poundage of Discovery limbs is with the bolts all the way down, or in the middle, or out? Wondering if a 50 lb bow would be 50-55. 45-50, or somewhere in between.

I found out this bow has aluminum limb bolts when one froze up. Then doing some research I found others that had the same thing happened to their Discovery. The remedy after the allen bolt head strips trying to break it free is a padded vise and a pipe wrench to break it free, I used vise grips. There are replacement stainless steel limb bolts from Samick available.
@johnmilby3857
@johnmilby3857 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had mine do the same thing, I had a machine shop repair the bolt and the riser, word of caution about switching to stainless steel limb bolts is if you have issues again your limb bolt will last forever but you will destroy your riser.. kinda like lifetime brake pads.. you will never have to change your 20 pads again,, you will be replacing 100 dollar rotors

@@johnmilby3857 Most high end aluminum risers have steel and stainless steel bolts. After looking at my stuck limb bolt I found that on one my aluminum limb bolts the last three threads were defective.
@johnmilby3857
@johnmilby3857 3 жыл бұрын
Of course there is no way to inspect the bolts until after you remove them. If you had to use a vise and pipe wrench you should have stopped there and sent it back.. sounds like you knarled it up taking it out... aluminum is very soft.. warranties don't cover end user's mistakes

@@johnmilby3857 Actually, when I bought the bow I had no reason to believe there was a problem with the limb bolts. I never heard of an issue with limb bolts or that aluminum limb bolts are used on bows, I’ve been into archery for 50 years. It was only when I changed my limbs and went to set the tiller did I find there was a problem, months after the purchase. After looking for another riser to put heavy limbs on for a hunting bow I decided that I liked the Discovery riser I bought another. As soon as I got it I pulled the limb bolts and seen they were fine, applied lube and reinstalled. The reason for my comments here and other places is to warn others to immediately check the limb bolts so if there are any issues the riser can be returned in time.

How much of draw weight can be adjusted? I have 27" draw length. So, if a get a 40 lbs bow as minimum hunting weight, the draw weight in my length will be less than 40 lbs. Can I increase the draw weight enough to be 40 lbs in my draw length?

If Samick made this riser in 21" version, it would be a lot smoother to draw back, without the feeling of stacking in the limbs. The Junxing F 261, looks very similar in design as the Discovery, and it is offered in 17", 19", and 21", and it is awesome to shoot with, the Big Rock 45 LB. Carbon Fiber Foam Limbs!!!!!!!

Just wondering why you keep refering to International Limb Fitting (ILF) as International Fitting Limb (IFL)? There is a difference between a limb fitting internationally (IFL) and a fitting that is international (ILF). Also, a point which might be quite important for you as a retailer: Writing IFL instead of ILF on your website and in youtube, will probably severly reduce your view-hits when people search for ILF, not IFL when product-searching in google and youtube.
