@@heyyou1366The cape actually came from Edith’s cousin Amelia. Edith helped take care of Amelia after she had surgery, so Amelia sent Edith the cape as a thank you present. Besides, Amelia’s husband Russ was going to buy her a new cape for her birthday, anyway.

Proof that Archie could be a controlling jerk with no problem. He orders his wife to return something she loves. There were lessons in this show, but this lesson was about cruelty. This is why people alternately liked Archie and hated him.

I wish it would have came from Louise jefferson, that would have been so dog gone funny, for him to know that George Jefferson's money paid for it, I love Archie Bunker's so much, the entire cast, Norman knew exactly what he was doing, Archie was my absolute favorite white racist guy, and George Jefferson was my favorite black racist guy, until he got his own so, I just bought him and Archie met a better team, then him and Lionel's wife's parents, who did not fit together, whatsoever as far as I'm concerned, but anywho, Fred Sanford became my absolute favorite black racist guy on television, around the same time, and so I had archie, as my favorite white guy, and Sanford as my favorite black guy, absolutely loved both of them, and television period Black⏪ Then😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

That was the whole point - Carroll O'Conner, who was the polar opposite of his character IRL, deliberately played Archie Bunker like a parody to show folks how NOT to be. Unfortunately, some folks mistook Archie for some kinda role model. They're the ones wearing red hats today.
