The video is actually full of meaning. It’s about their former guitarist dying of cancer
@Brian4096x6 жыл бұрын
To give some context for the video, one of the guitarists in this band, Tom Searle, passed away due to cancer last year. The song and the video were done to pay tribute to him. Tom also served as the main lyricist for the band and this was a song that he started before he passed and the rest of the band finished it in his honor.

Also, the drummer (sitting in the beginning of the videoclip) is Tom's twin...

Some of the points you missed in the video! This video is portraying Tom Searle, the former guitarist that was in the band that passed away due to cancer, it portrays him rising into the heavens. This was made in tribute to him as this was a song he never got to finish before his death so the rest of the band finished it for him in his honor!

The video itself describes the passing of Tom, their former guitarist, who passed away in 2015 due to skin cancer. Him and Dan (the drummer) were twins playing together in the band since the beginning. This song was written by Tom but he never got to finish it, so the band finished his project after his passing as a tribute. All of the universe and space images represent Tom ascending and becoming at peace with the world/universe. All of the members in the video are slowly fading into particles, which can represent that we are all slowly meeting our end and dissapearing from the world untill there is nothing left of us physically.

I think you'll find that the song and the video has greater context than you could imagen when you find out that it's the last song their guitarist started to write before he passed away from cancer (wildfire spread). The guy walking around is suppose to be Tom as he leaves this plain and discovers the "next" stop (be it universe, heaven or what else.)

Rat MYFHC Just a correction. Tom didn't write this song, Dan did. It's about his fear of forgetting his brother in the future.
@padraigmurphy35406 жыл бұрын
Their old guitarist Tom Searle recently passed away from cancer. His brother, Dan, is the drummer and the one playing the character in the video. From what I have gathered the video portrays Dan as Tom. Tom is achieving enlightenment/ascending to a "heaven-like" place while everyone one else is slowly fading away which flows with the lyrics of the song being about the impact of Tom's death.
@Ranesbane6 жыл бұрын
I think that effect they use is symbolic of them losing a piece of themselves after their bandmate died.
@x3wildcard6 жыл бұрын
The video is depicting the ephemeral nature of life, of the soul. The man you see throughout is passing on, and the band around him is being torn apart by his passing. The song is about Tom, a band member and the dummer's brother, who died of cancer after being told the cancer was gone. As for vocal coaching, the lead singer is singing about one of his best friends' passing; all the vocal coaching in the world isn't going to help you through that level of intense emotion. On top of that, the lead songwriter for the band.. was Tom himself. I don't know this, but it's likely he wrote at least parts of the song himself. The key phrase--to me at least--in this song is "I have to do this for you/ and the only way out is through." Referring to the fact that they were in the middle of the record when Tom passed, but they finished and vowed to keep making music because it was his passion. It's a message to all those who have lost that there's still a future, still a reason to continue. One of the best songs of 2017.

The video techniques actually mean alot with the song. The particle effect slowly increases as the song progresses to show the "fade away" of the life of Tom Searle

Yeah this is one of the few instances that the video actually does tell a very important visual story and should be paid attention to. I understand your viewpoint if you don't know the story of the death of Tom Searle. His brother (the drummer) Dan Searle kind of played his brother and it tells the story of ascending intro another plane of life. At least that is my interpretation of it. Try to look into what happened to the Searle Family and the band it adds a lot to the weight of the song and the video. Glad you checked it out NearlySeniorCitizen and do so again in your own time to really feel what the weight of the song feels like.

Daniel dore Taste is subjective, there's no such thing as a shitty suggestion. Although i like some of emo bands here and there i'm actually not the biggest fan of the genre. Weezer is power pop-rock, kanye is a rapper, two door cinema club is alternative rock. The only emo band on the list is fucking paramore, and their last record is a full blown 80s pop lp. So, if you have a problem with my taste in music, Fuck You. Just because you dont enjoy some type of music doesnt mean its bad.

the drums in this song are actually a good example of "drum assistance" you were talking about in the dark funeral video. these drums are heavily triggered. a drum trigger is something attached to each separate drum. once the drum is hit, it sends a signal through to a device that puts a pre-recorded drum sample in the place of the actual drum sound. you can actually blend the acoustic sound and the triggered drum sound in post-production. a lot of bands over use triggers. i'm glad you're reacting to these heavier bands though! still, react to easy easy by king krule at some point! you may enjoy it. you may not. anyway, thank you. thumbs up for that!
