Lyrics:
The weight of the world is resting on thin ice
When the surface breaks will I find paradise?
As I freeze to death
Left to reflect
What a waste of time
I was in retrospect
I’d take a leap of faith
But I’d lose my nerve
In the end
I’ll get the hell that I deserve
I’m always gone with the wind
Crawling in and out of my mind
God knows, I lost all my faith
A sickness with no remedy
Except the ones inside of me
You ever wonder how deep you can sink into nothing at all?
Disintegrate
Annihilate me
Do you remember when you said to me
“My friend, hope is a prison"?
Of all the patterns that I could create
I built a labyrinth with no escape
To keep my ‘self’ under lock and key
I am my own worst enemy
A sickness with no remedy
Except the ones inside of me
You ever wonder how deep you can sink into nothing at all?
Disintegrate
Annihilate me
If I could silence all the doubt in me
Accept that what is meant to be
Is meant to be
You ever wonder how deep you can sink into nothing at all?
Disintegrate
Annihilate me

The crowd Continuing to sing the song when sam breaks down in tears is one of the most powerful moments i every saw. This Band is so awesome, continuing Tom's Legacy through their concerts. I can rarely listen to them anymore because i get way too emotional, but when I do it is always such an intense experience. Their music has really grown to my heart and speaks to me.

Can confirm i was in the pit breaking down in tears at the same time. So glad I caught this era of architects and could share my own grief with them

"Hope is a Prison" is one of the best lines to me ever written. Simple but so deep.

what do they mean by that?

@@pw4885 That hope can be seen as the cause of suffering. It's a way of thinking that even dates back to the ancient Greece folklore in the tale of Pandora's Box, where when she opened the box where all the evils were contained by the gods, the last one to be released was hope. The hope of a mother that can't let go his son who died in the war, the hope that an incurable sickness could be cured, that can be outlived. Like a double blade sword, it can give strength, or it can be a demise

@@pw4885 Hope means that you will not let go of thoughts or things that you cannot change. It won`t allow you to see things as they are, as you wish for them to be different, because theoretically they can be... hope distracts you from accepting your reality and finding a way forward. It truly is a prison.

It might sound weird considering the themes of this song, but I return to this video often, when I'm depressed and hopeless and feel alone, and it lifts me up. It's a beautiful reminder of life as a whole - the sadness, the hope, the love, the power of music, of 'brotherhood', and how we can collectively lift each other up to greater things. We are much stronger together than alone, but we also can't forget the individual power we each have to impact the lives of others.

My dad died a year and a half ago. His name was Tom too. I also have constant dreams where he's "better" and asks me what happened. I never have an answer.... Just do what you can to make the people in your life smile. I think thats all any of of us can take in terms of lessons from either men. Fuck Cancer.

Dude I regret to this day not being able to blare anything out as Sam broke down cos I did too but I’ll never forget being mid mosh to this song and absolutely falling to my knees and the big, bald, tattooed dude who picked me up during the pit and dragged me to the end, thank you for helping me and just so you know if you ever see this but I’ve carried Portsmouth as my second team to this day because of your tattoo. Up the Pompey x

My bandmate tragically passed away in 2015. I left town and bought tickets to Architects in Brisbane Australia before hearing the tragic news about Tom. The silver lining was that killer show and being able to grieve with songs like this, Memento Mori and then Doomsday. I wished for Dan to take over with lyrics and Josh coming to the band has been amazing. Thanks for continuing the dream and Tom's legacy. It means a lot. Happy Birthday Rowley. Miss you brother❤

Went through something similar. Our Bass player died in a car wreck randomly. Shits heart breaking. But at least when you make music you can still hear their voice and passion.

It breaks my heart hearing this song. It breaks my heart seeing this performance. It breaks my heart that Tom isn’t here anymore. It breaks my heart that I probably will never hear this song live again. It breaks my heart that the band went through that period. But goddamn I can’t stop listening to this song and I love this band so much!

Something about Dans speech and Sams breaking down then being uplifted from everyone brought me back to bible camp. As weird as it may sound to some we would praise our God of our understanding. When one would break down we would lift them back up. Im praying for everyone that is in need of being lifted back up. Love yall and Rip Tom. Thank you for your music.
