It definitely felt a bit vindictive and that kind of takes away a bit from the song IMO but I also completely get it. All that stuff aside though, I think if I heard it blind with no knowledge of the crap that they've had to deal with, I think I would just enjoy the song and that's what matters to me. For the record, if anyone cares, I didn't *love* the last couple of albums but I didn't hate them either, they just didn't seem quite as good as their older stuff to me and that's fine, they're allowed to do what they want and they absolutely should. I certainly am not going to say awful things about them or try to make them feel like Tom wouldn't be happy with their achievements after his death, because I'm not an asshole 😅It may make me sound old or something but my parents raised me in such a way that if I don't have anything nice to say, I just keep my thoughts to myself. I think it's fun, heavy is heavy and the chorus is catchy and very Oli Sykes. It's just clear to me how much of what I liked about Architects, cutting lyricism and proggy riffage, came from Tom, and the rest came from the passion and anger Sam no longer feels comes naturally to him. This track won't bring me back to the band, but I hope it helps them move past this awkward push and pull with their older fans.

The problem with hating on the early stuff lovers and the new stuff haters is the sentimental part of the issue. Of course they can do whatever they want to do. It is THEIR music and I by all means defend the argument that they make music for THEMSELVES. HOWEVER I as a former biggest fan ever am entitled to: 1. an opinion about their new stuff 2. EXPRESSING my opinion on their new stuff 3. be utterly disappointed with their attitude towards the fans that were there throughout the whole journey to them being one of the biggest bands on the scene For me it's not the music. It's the attitude they have, completely disregarding any sentiment us old Architects lovers might have. We've been there the whole time and yet they're like "fuck you" instead of "we're not happy with our sound and wanna do this now". That's not what you're supposed to do as a band. People say it's the same thing Bring Me The Horizon did with 'heavy metal' and I couldn't agree less. Bring Me The Horizon didn't disregard their old fans. They embraced a new path of experimenting with modern sound and production technique. But they value all of their fans, both old and new. Can't say the same about Architects.
@ashleighjane11 ай бұрын
I say this with absolute respect, but you've kinda missed the point. This isn't directed at all fans. This is directed at the jerks who abuse the shit out of them on the internet, who storm the stage and yell at them, who tell them they're disrespecting Tom's memory with the new stuff and by not talking about him anymore. It's directed at the "fans" who wanted them to stay in that depressed state talking about the most tragic event in their lives. They are passed that now. They will never forget Tom but they need to move on for themselves, and Sam has said this in many interviews. They need to grow and evolve and start doing things they want to do. Expressing opinions is fine, as long as it's in a constructive, nice way. Everyone has an opinion. But it's HOW you express it. And this isn't a "fuck you" to all fans. I think that one of the main problems is that some bands cannot change properly over years. Architects overdid themselves with their riffy prog metalcore style for years and it got really boring, monotone and mediocre now. Then they decided to change their style completely and honestly it was a good choice. But there's something really lazy about their last album, everything seems very predictible and mediocre. I think they simply need more progressive elements and experiments(not exactly the pure heaviness or some unsuccessful experiments like for example the crowd choir in this song), but something that is about: structure, layering, vocals, production, melodies and notes, etc... But it doesn't mean that they should blame and mock their old fans, some of which may have tattoes and lyrics from their older material on their skin. I think that hate towards band is always a bad thing because listeners can't really feel all the effort and hard work that bands put into their songs and art overall, but i also think that it shouldn't be as lazy as it was on their last album. Some people don't like their last record not because it wasn't heavy, but because musicly it's very mediocre overall, but some simply don't understand it and they would go like - "bring back the old sound" or "RIP Architects". All i can recommend to all the bands as a basic listener - change like The Devil Wears Prada, change like Invent Animate, change like Northlane! Do something individual and accessible with all your effort, this is a key! Look at what Johnny Booth band did this year, they've recorded and mastered an incredible and yet a very underrated album with original sound, the album Moments Elsewhere is basically like I Let It In And It Took Everything, but for hardcore-side metalheads, because they experimented really well and it seems successful and works like it's own ecosystem, it's very progressive as well. Now it seems like Loathe is doing something absolutely insane, look at them! They really put effort because quality is more important to them than quantity. Only imagine if Architects started to include thall riffs or make something more unique and very individual. I can't say that choosing this path you won't suffer, but the one who walks could once overcome it, there's a chance to find the golden chest in the end. Maybe they once found this chest and don't need another one though?

I actually didn't find them until either right before or right after Tom had died, (that's not WHY I found them, thanks Truant). I'll admit I haven't listened to all of the last 2 albums, but if I listen to every single you drop and then another 2-3 from that album and it nothing grabs my attention, then it's not for me. I don't need them to hate the world and be angry all the time. However, it's a complete travesty not to come to terms with the fact that AOGHAU was a masterpiece and they've fallen so far from that. Yes it was angry as Tom came to terms with his mortality, and heartwrenching, too; but musically, it was a lot more technical in every way than pretty much anything since. I know the band has it in them. I know Josh completely shreds with Sylosis, but they're a very different band. It just sucks that we don't get to see the progression of their growing skills and it feels as though they're content playing as though they've regressed as a whole. I'm one of those guys who didn't find BMTH until right after 'That's the Spirit' dropped. I loved 'sempiternal'. Now, Bring Me The Disco is a shell of it's former self. They didn't grow into what they are now; they sold out.

If we dont allow artists to grow they'll stagnate and could stop all together. I thought Sam got his point across.

I enjoy almost everything that they have released though my favorite albums by them are Nightmares and Ruin and it's way before that fucking blegh nonsense so this surely can't be aimed at me?

It smokes me 😂😂 it's not about being heavy, it's about being creative and not monotone. Take a band like Motionless in White, it's less heavy than before but still with new ideas and oh surprisingly (or not) they are way more bigger than Architects now

I agree, FTTWTE had a ton of great songs which weren't as heavy. Classic Symptoms was really where the main issues were, but because the fans giving actual constructive criticism were drowned out by all of the crybabies flooding them with hate for being "not heavy" that ended up being the only thing they saw.

Linkin park is kindly asking to stop trying to steal their sound. Also…their “evolution” of lyrics….oof

I didn’t not like the last two albums because it wasn’t heavy just nothing caught my attention really no innovation same thing with this sure it’s heavy cool but again it’s not unique or has something that would have me returning you can change in sound and do it really well this and the last two albums is not that

Sorry but I cant vibe with the "Are you a junkie punk medicating for free" lyric (and some others). Overall I dont mind the dissing the haters lyrics, some trolls are insane. But for some of us this type of music was and is a "medicine" for depression. If time hasnt frozen for them and they moved on thats great. But people have the right to not like the new stuff too. They can keep doing whatever they like and of course talk about the death threats sending idiots. But not everyone liking them "only when they see red" is like those people.

The irony is that as fans of their older sound, we aren't even fussed that their new shit isnt heavy anymore. The problem is how absolutely generic, droning, and cringey they have become. Arena rock has, and always will, suck.

Pretty strongly dislike this. It's a slap in the face of the people who liked their "heavier" stuff, and it's too heavy for people who like the newer stuff. I don't get how they refuse to understand that *mainly* people hated the dropoff in overall quality, between instrumentation and especially lyric writing, in the last two albums. Yeah, heavier was better I guess, but the main issue I (and I think plenty of others) have with their new stuff is that it just seems uninspired and sold out.

And apparently the band thinks the biggest gripe is just simply, "Y no heavy??¿ 🤪"
@aeztral11 ай бұрын
Horrible take. This is quite literally aimed at people who did NOT leave constructive criticism. And even if you strongly dislike their new material, they don't owe you music in that old style. They're people and artists that make the music that they feel like making and it's no ones place to tell them shit like 'Tom would be disappointed'. Nobody is taking AOGHAO or LT//LF from you but these are people and they deserve to be not constantly be harassed by people who can't let go.

@@aeztral Maybe I worded it poorly, I'm not trying to hate on them. This track just feels tone deaf to the real criticism. The songwriting of the last two albums was terrible compared to the previous. And this just feels like doubling down on the lazy songwriting.

totally agree with you
@whosthatpanda793511 ай бұрын
@@YourBurrito96because that genuinely IS most people who are leaving hate comments' biggest gripe. People giving constructive feedback are getting drowned out by the "not heavy = bad" crowd and the people weaponising Tom's death to attack the band, sending death threats etc.

I tried to like it, but only because it's heavy doesn't mean that it's good. Extremely basic groov, that makes no use of their djenty side. The chorus has that whiney fell to it, that I personally despise. The lyrics are uninspired and downright cringe at times. And what's up with those kinds in the gang vocals??

The songwriting is just very mid, like their last 2 albums. The chorus is just so bland and no interesting guitar riffs whatsoever.

This song was WAY too strong of a response to what was clearly a vocal minority of their fanbase.

Sometimes I wonder, if those minority of so called "FANS" actually listened and even tried realizing the meaning of what they sang about this world and us as humans in their previous albums at all. T//S 🤍
