Thanks for this review brother. I had a feeling that a lot was left on the table by most of the "big" guntubers when it came to this pistol. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts. Be well!

Agreed. When I get done with it, I think it will be awesome, but all those fixes on an 800 dollar pistol are kind of sad.

This is the best in depth review of this pistol ive seen to date and ive been keeping my eyes and ears open for it since debut in 2017. I was hopeful the kinks would get worked out with the importation and manufacturing. Now it looks like most have been. I'll be purchasing one 100% thanks to your review. Great job! Now i just need to settle on what optic cut I want. I hope more these finer details and home-smithing remedies continue to be released so others can make informed purchase decisions; rather than be blind sided by the untold nuances.

@shadowoffair09 Thanks, my friend. I appreciate the support. A lot of people will not shoot it in competition where the flaws start showing up. It is a really cool gun.
@shadowoffair094 ай бұрын
That's interesting. I see competition shooting as the proving grounds for mass production pews and feeding grounds for purpose made pews. I remember one video from initial launch where a competitive foreigner was singing its praises, but I don't believe he was competing in American circuits. Hopefully it holds up. But the civilian class wants "block" like reliability and only time and range reports will reveal that.

I got one with their Holy Grail trigger job and it’s super light and resets great. You are spot on with the whole mag release thing. All in all it’s a great gun and I got mine with sandpaper grips. However, it’s way overpriced for what you get and the pic rail pushes WMLs to much forward. Great review, cheers!

@locophoto68817 ай бұрын
Way overprice for what you get? What an idiot....it's one of the flattest shooting pistols on the market, with an optics cut, reliable, versatile grip, easy to work on if you have a brain, brilliant ergonomics, and hundreds less than many other pistols, and unique groove in slide for press checks which is really clever and effective, built in magwell, and rail.

@HeteachethmyhandstowarАй бұрын
@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131 I think it should not stick as far out as the factory when pressed, It may should have beveled edges where it rubbs against grip to keep from it hanging on it. The polymer grip module has some molding imperfections I think the button likes to stick on when pressed certian ways.

So in short it has great potential and the low bore axis action works, but even on the gen 2 model they still didn't figure out how to make it nice... By the way, do you know if it takes Shadow 2 magazines? I've heard people say they are identical, others say similar, some say they might not even work. Could you try that?

I wish Archon would redo the whole frame: ambi paddle mag. release, fix the mediocre trigger and straight face, smaller trigger guard and eliminate the rib in the rear of the grip.
@HeteachethmyhandstowarАй бұрын
@@Brian-gj5xm I would say I agree with that. I think the shape of the beavertail is worse than the rib. It's a great gun that needs a little tuning here and there.

I'm right handed and my thumb is short - I usually put the mag release button to the right side and use my middle finger to release it. I had the 1st Arsenal Stryk B and it was a good gun but with little support. Dont know if the new one still fits but for the StryK you can acutally use a Beretta APX Ghost shell holster! It holds the StrykB firm in place.

I would say - if you already bought it - deal with it and improve - if you're thinking about buying it - I don't recommend - reasons why? well I bought it last year in October and since then I had 2 times a situation where I could not drop the mag - mag release has issues, Archon firearms knows about it - I had my mag release replaced already once and shit continues to create issues... now gave it to a gun smith and waiting for some good news... Mags are expensive but you can buy one from CZ 75 - change the base pad and will work and costs half price ... Gun overall is nice, holds nice, shoot nice, you can feel it's a premium product but then you discover that it's a niche product and even though Archon Firearms says that many companies will bring stuff that will work with this gu - holsters etc(safari land, Alien gear etc) - bullshit... there's nothing or just basic stuff..

Get the Gen 1. Its doesn’t have any of the problems you describe. Much better grip, ambi slide release, very nice mag release, and smoother beaver tail. FCG is the same though, but it was smooth from day 1.

Can you make a video showing how to disassemble the frame? The reason, I completely agree everything you said, mag release, but mainly the trigger is why I want to see how to disassemble it. If that is not something you want to do, is fairly straightforward? I install Cajun pro packages on CZ’s, spring kits on striker and hammer fired, trigger slings etc. I can work with small parts, and can figure out how they go together usually.
@Heteachethmyhandstowar9 ай бұрын
There is a good video by rain6 firearmsI think, on disassembly. I would just polish all the trigger contact points and if you want to be risky take one rung from trigger detent spring and sear spring.
@josephperry96699 ай бұрын
I think I know which video you’re talking about. I started researching the gen 2 in October 2023, and got one when PTR first stocked them. So I know about Rain6 and Iron Horse, both in Utah and both owned by the same guy or company. Are there any tricky springs or parts to watch for, so they don’t go flying off, or difficult to get into place when putting back together?
@josephperry96699 ай бұрын
Sorry, last question I swear: what size washers did you use for mag release, where did you get them, and much material did you remove from the back/right side (2-4 mm)?
@Heteachethmyhandstowar9 ай бұрын
@josephperry9669 If you pay attention, taking things off it is an easy, simple design to take apart. Probably easier than the cz guns I have messed with that you already know.
