Fun fact: the pulsing synth noise you hear at the begining is the radio signal from CP-1919 - the first ever pulsar (a kind of rotating neutron star) observed by astronomers - converted into sound. A visualisation of that same data is the album cover to Unknown Pleasures by Joy Divison; effectively you're 'hearing' that image :)

ALEXZERO you need extremely delicate(yet accurate) microphones pointed at space to hear cosmic bodies actually produce sounds. I believe they aren’t microphones like we generally know them, they read the energy that they produce and “read” a sound out of the energy. “Little Green Men-1” was suspected to have been produced from an extraterrestrial source trying to communicate to us but we later learned that it was a rapidly rotating neuron star producing electromagnetic radiation. That “energy” emitted sounds like a pulse due to the rotation of the star. This phenomenon is properly called “pulsar”.

This video expresses exactly what Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino was described as. A flight at 70's with a pinch of science fiction. The extra actors seems like they are building the Hotel like the engineers build a spaceship in a instalation base. Alex walks around the facility seeing his project geting complete. The air is pure of a 70's sci-fi movie, just like sounds the entire album, which is pretty in my opinion.

When I was listening to this album for the first time, I thought "well ok that is weird". But one day I came home absolutely exhausted, sat down on my sofa and decided to listen to it again, right from the first track. By the end of the album I did not want it to ever stop. I was absolutely somewhere in outer space and I thought: "That is a masterpiece! Like a true form of art. Like a good painting. You don't come to gallery everyday to see a painting, you have to be in that particular state of mind to enter that room, sit down and enjoy the art" That is not that kind of music album that you would just put in your headphones and listen to it everyday on the regular basis, that is something you turn on, like an old vinyl, sit down and enjoy.

One Dead Pixel not really. Matt doesn’t care at all and although he and Jamie change their haircut, they never really do it to suit the era like Alex does. Nick has barely changed his appearance or style since he joined the band. This era is the most drastic change Nick has had stylistically since the beginning. Alex, on the other hand, seems to almost adopt an entirely new persona for each album release, almost like he’s not even the same person (at least on the outside)

When I say i have been watching this on repeat for like half an hour im not lying. This song is just gorgeous, and watching AT walk around this mansion is so satisfying. this song is painfully underrated. That clip of Nick on the bass on the steps is so goddamn cool.
@acowinablender82116 жыл бұрын
This album is certainly the type that has to grow on you. At first I thought "What the hell is this?" but when I looked at it musically, I loved it. The bass lines are catchy and I love the piano used in every song. A whole new fresh sound that I personally love. It has that old timey feel to it kinda. The one thing I do miss from this album is the driving, powerful drumming from Matt Helders. He seemed to be on holiday in this album and this song in particular, missed out on a huge chance for him to show his skills. Alex Turner, as always, is a genius with his lyrics. That's always been the case and it's no different in this album. People have to realize that bands don't want to stick to the same sound for long as it gets boring. I'm excited to see where they will go from this. For me this album is a 9/10.

Liking this album doesn't determine whether you're a true fan or not, bands change their sound to their liking, not the fans', Alex Turner is writing whatever he wants, if you like it, cool, if you don't, that's fine, too, but you shouldn't bash on the change, instead you should be happy that Alex isn't writing just to please people, if this is the direction that he wants to take the band then so be it, I'm totally digging it and I've been listening to this album on repeat for hours now, everyone has different tastes.

Literally spot on. All because some fans think its shite means it definitely is no matter what. I think they forget that if a musician (or anyone in the entertainment or arts) made things to please the fans, and not what they wanted will end up being a huge mess. I don't know why people have such a hard time understanding this, or refusing to accept that, that is reality.

I just get a modern 'Hotel California' vibe from this whole song/video. Besides the obvious fact both are named for hotels the theme, melody and guitar tone just remind me of it.

Yes! The chord progression in this creates so much sinister tension, just like in Hotel California!

Just passing by to express the geniality this song really is! The voice, the melody, the everything! Arctic Monkeys forever!! Love them! Thousand ⭐️out of⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😅

This song is fucking awesome! I can't understand why people hate it. The Monkeys are not what they used to be, but it doesn't mean they are a flop. Of course, we had been expecting for so long that kind of songs that make us rock on, but this is the kind of music they wanna play now. And, you know what? It's a good album after all. Take it easy for a little while.

Sheila Hagerdom if they had done the same as AM people would say "Make another sound, you're boring". If they do another sound "Return to the last sound, this sucks". 🤔

I don’t understand but seems like some people haven’t realized that every album of theirs has a different sound. No album sounds alike. And after 5 years I’m happy they changed again. Shows how creative and artistic Arctic Monkeys are. Unique.

Saw them last night. This song plays really well live. Kind of dark - sexy - cool, almost hypnotic. It's a great counter-point to some of their loud, bombastic concert standards. I think this song will stand the test of time.

Oh, and I forgot to mention ...the SASSY attitude Alex brings to this live is absolutely awesome. This was the opening song at the Mad Cool Festival in Spain (July 2018). Their whole performance is uploaded on KZbin and definitely worth watching. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnW0mpiCfamkiac

This video combined with this song just rocked my world. There are so rare few moments when you can find something that instantly transports you to a place that doesn’t exist, but feels real because you’re reasonably sure you’ve been there in a dream. The art in this (visually and musically) is brilliant.
