ArduCopter ESC Calibration

Hello from New Mexico. I'm building a 4 inch micro long distance Arducopter drone, I'm using the Flywoo Explorer LR 4 V2 with Flywoo Dave-C-FPV 1404 v2 2750kv motors, matek h743 mini flight controller and i need a recommendation for a 32 bit 20by20mm m2 mounted esc. Can you please help me with a recommendation

I had planned that video soon after this one but the Flame Wheel just did not want to be resurrected again. Just set it aside for now yesterday. ☹ Do plan a top to bottom 7 inch Quad build in 2023 that will show everything.

I made a video. trouble is that my ESC’s just calibrated with no effort at all. I then went on to tell things that might go wrong. If you have problems, I also added a way to get help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJbVfKyAe6yhgpY

Thanks for shedding light on this! Ardupilot doesn’t mention this step. Does this method work with Herelink?

Yikes. I didn't know that was public. It was an answer to a specific question by someone. Herelink is a video transmission system, this was a person who had trouble getting an ESC to calibrate.

Well it’s out in the open. I tried this last night and it worked using my Herelink controller. Now I have to sort my PreArm: throttle too high issue. Thanks!

@@heythatguy6 Can you describe the problem or post a video? Sounds like you are saying that Arducopter won't arm because the throttle is high when it isn't. I would be interested to see what the throttle channel output is. kzbin.info/www/bejne/maHUiKmroZ55ebc

I have a pixhawk 2.4.8 and 4 esc hobbywing 40A... I'm trying to calibrate a drone 4 propeller but no one of this sistem has worked. Any other idea? The setting "normal" or "one shot" etc what does it means? sorry my english

You can always calibrate with just a rc receiver.

I am not fully following you here. You connect the pwm input of the esc to a pwm port where you want to control the motor from. DSHOT ESC’s can then be programed through that connection using passthrough.

@@nighthawkvs it did help but I had lucky that all my 8 props are removed because TAER and 2 where wrong and the right whas set at power so with dissabled safety switch all motor turning half power after restart without arming !

What ESC are you using? Most are digital now and won’t because they calibrate themselves. The Docs have not been changed to reflect that since about 2016 or so.

Thank you very much for the kind comment. Let me know if you have problems. Also know that many of the new BLHeli and DShot ESC's don’t require calibration and the ArduPilot ESC calibration will fail in various ways. This failure is not a problem because they are self-calibrating.

I had a lot of trouble calibrating my ESC on the Mini Talon recently. I ended up putting the platform in manual mode at startup and calibrated it that way. But I didn’t make a video of it because it was not an approved method of calibrating the ESC and I didn’t want to lead others down a wrong road.
