@@vanmoody It was 15 years ago. I moved from that city and haven’t gone back to that ministry. Now, just music and helps. I know that this couple is still together. The guy spent half his life in prison and on his last stretch absorbed the Bible. He was like Ned Flanders. You’d never know that he was formerly a hardened criminal. One time, he was riding his motorcycle. A cop pulled him over. He was high and had a pistol hidden under his coat. He was ready to kill the cop and the cop asked him a simple question, smiled and said, “Have a nice day”. My friend said that it was only God’s grace that he didn’t kill him.

My family and I escaped from the former Republic of Bulgaria is 1985. I spent one year in a refugee camp before coming to America. I’ll never forget after landing, driving through the streets of NYC to our destination. The amount of lights, action, movement, hustle and bustle and tall buildings was so overwhelming. We stopped at a grocery store by the hotel we were put in and I’ll never forget seeing a bananas for sale. Hundreds of them. For the regular American, this is taken for granted but coming from a former Soviet Bloc nation, the only time you saw bananas were around the holidays. 1 banana per family member. Americans have no idea the amazing life they have. I appreciate the life granted every day and am blessed to call myself an American now. God bless this nation.

The former homeless couple are great! And so true that stories like theirs need to be told more. They were at the bottom and built themselves up again, it’s possible! They wanted to change, took the opportunity and made a new life for themselves.. good for them! Some people seem to think that because, you are down on your luck that there’s no way you can make it back up.. but look at them, you can, and so many others like them. I hope they continue to do well. Always will be proud to be an American ❤️ 🇺🇸

I think a lot of people who used to be homeless keep it to themselves, BECAUSE they have big dreams. I don't want to share that part of my past. I want to be better. I see pity in people's eyes when I share. I dont want to be pitied, I want respect. I worked really really hard to get out and I'm still not done, I still have places to go. I don't want to be underestimated or treated as "less than" and I have been. It's the scarlet H, it follows you forever.

This hits home when he talked about the security guard because I work here in Chicago and see a lot of homeless around the business I am working and there was always a homeless man on the corner who would use drugs but during the hot summer I would bring him water's and food every once in a while. We began speaking regularly, I would bring him coffee and just being a friend. Just from the conversations we had motivated him to get himself clean. Winter came and I haven't seen him in a while but in the spring time he came back clean shaven, haircut, and clean clothes and brought me coffee. I died inside he is clean to this day. I wish I can post a picture of us here as proof but it's very true, as security guards we see everything. Happy 4th God Bless everyone. -Ret. Marine Sgt.

That first couple is awesome. I was a homeless heroin addict on the streets of Dallas. Spent many a nights sleeping at DART bus stops, outside the salvation army, sometimes in the salvation army if I got there early enough. It took me going to prison for 4½ years to turn my life around. I got out in 2018, started my career in 2019, married in 2020, bought a new build house this March that is a 2 minute walk to Cedar Creek Lake in Enchanted Oaks, TX. America is a beautiful country. Our government is garbage, but the country and the ideals it was founded upon are wonderful. I wish we could get find our way back to governing by those ideals. We need good men like the founders back in government. Happy 4th to you all. Keep on living the dream.

I was homeless once & had a rough time of it for a year on the streets.. a woman took the time to stop & talk to me one-day & the rest was history.. she was a pastoral nurse for a local hospital & she helped me get into a treatment program & it got me off the streets for 60 days, long enough to get sober & my head clear again, I got an interview for a job & with the education I did go to tech college for I was hired & on a plane to Ontario Canada within 90 days & spent 2 weeks trainng for this terrific company & came back to the United States 2 weeks after that flying 1st class & getting off the plane & that nurse friend was there & with good news how the church had pooled together & helped me with an apartment deposit so, I had my own place as I started that job running my 1st store as a Retail Store Manager & I had great pay in a brand new store & donations of furniture & dishes, etc..from that church of the pastor nurse & I took the cash donations & bought a used truck that was quite nice -& those people along the way, my nurse friend & the church & the folks at the treatment center & those who donated to help with furniture to the little things to furnish an apartment all to help this guy off the street & saved my life along the way & even those who gave me that job that helped change my life are why America is great.. that was 15yrs ago now.. I got my own place now & bought property recently & building a cabin on it now.. it's amazing how far I've come.. & so, on this day I think this video was a good reminder of where I've been & those who gave a little time & were selfless & had some money & things that helped get me off the street.. & I did the rest, thanks to the self confidence they helped rebuild in me cuz, they gave me a chance & I think it's time maybe I give back.. I'm in a position to give some back & I have done so this past year during Covid but, intend on doing more for someone like me years ago who just needed a break & a chance & a friend & someone who'd listen.. cuz, look what I did with those opportunities.. it's been quite a life but, I'm grateful to be an American!.. & thanks to all those who helped me along the way when I needed it.. My grandfather fled Germany before it got super bad and then he joined the United States military and fought for the greatest country this planet has ever seen.......America. He loved this unbelievably beautiful country with all the had and he helped me see why we're America. We r America because of the freedoms and liberties we have, not because democrats would rather push for ever more government control and for us to b dependent on government. We r America because we can say what we want and own whatever firearms we want, not because democrats want to censor and confiscate. We r Americans because we take care of ourselves and each other, not because we rely on government. Even with all the leftists that don't like why we're America, even with all the serious issues we r facing, there is nothing that liberty loving patriotic Americans cannot achieve, and there is nothing we cannot overcome. This is the greatest country this planet has ever seen and will remain that way until that mindset is gone from the very last individual that is willing to fight and die for those things we hold dear. We must never forget that this is the greatest country, those who sacrificed and gave their lives for it, and most importantly why they did, and then stand tall and proud next to one another and do the same.

"is as good as it gets" is it though? $5k for an ambulance doesn't seem "as good as it gets" to me. Being forced to be in a car isn't "as good as it gets". Hell try being single in America, where your only options are to go to college and live in dorms, join the military or stay at home with parents because our housing infrastructure is built on marriage, that doesn't seem to be "as good as it gets". If you live rural you have to drive 30+ minutes in order to have a life, that doesn't seem "as good as it gets". Speaking of life, having to spend hundreds of dollars a month on insurance that barely covers anything isn't "as good as it gets", nor is our society of workaholics where your whole identity revolves around work isn't "as good as it gets". America has A LOT of issues. Do I still love it? Of course, but just because I love my country doesn't mean I can't acknowledge the flaws and that I should blindly think that it's the greatest when it's not.

Wow, that couple that was homeless is just inspiring... Thank you Steven for doing what the lame steam media won't, keeping the government machine honest, and bringing a positive message of unity

My best friend was homeless with 2 kids, mother left, it was amazing to see him pull himself up 1 year at a time working and progressing. America provides for those who are able to take advantage of the opportunity that is given.

I have never seen more than a homeless person in my life, here in Croatia. Perhaps it is worth considering the initial state of being homeless, with kids, and how that reflects on the country. It is not difficult to achieve bias of exception.

That was so damn encouraging hearing the story of the recovered couple & then you offering to help the other gentlemen find a job was so damn heartwarming, it brought tears to my eyes… Thank you guys & thank you Stephen for putting yourself out there, and for going out into the world to highlight the beauty of our great country.

Iowa is extremely underrated. I moved here this year with my partner, and it is an amazing state to live in. People that told us to be careful because we are Latino and people here wouldn't accept us really didn't know what they were talking about. This state greatly encompasses and represents the concept of "Land of Opportunity".

the way you look? see that's the problem...this is your fault. no "racists" on any side are talking about how people look, it's all about behavior, 100% of the time. the narrative and indoctrination is so think that it doesn't matter what reality is, we will just lie to ourselves if we don't like it. somebody can scream in your face about how white people ACT and you would look then dead in the eye and say something like "you just don't like me because I look different" it's this kind of denial of reality and refusal to address issues that got us here. the more obvious something is the more dishonest we are about it, to OURSELVES.

we are on the verge of extinction and all we seem to care about is that people remember us as having an out group preference. you know that won't work of course because the media lies and they aren't going to tell the truth once we are gone. I suspect you know this too but you would freak out if I told you who was behind the propaganda. nope...the best we can do is enjoy the last of our selfish individualism in the next generation or two before we lose the last of our countries and vanish forever

On that same note I don't suffer from any guilt for what some other DA might do now that is part of my generation. Although I can't say I wouldn't take the opportunity to whoop their asses if needed.

I have SO MUCH respect for the couple you spoke to. It's the people who have been born with everything given to them, who've had to work for nothing, that have no concept reality and no respect for America. God bless those two. I hope everything goes right for them from this point forward.

I'm from the UK and I'm interested in learning about as many countries around the world as I can. These type of video give a wonderful insight into who the people really are as opposed to how America is portrayed to the rest of they world. Can't beat actually hearing how people on the street feel about various topics. Great video.
