I defo agree, the older animes have earned a certain measure of respect because of how much more difficult it was to animate then, and several unique art styles. That being said, modern anime carries more character and make reading between the lines better, especially when conveying emotion. and of course, the fight scenes. can't forget those.

First Sailor Moon Crystal, Digimon, Shaman King, Lum, and Tokyo Mew Mew were reboot which past anime series will get a reboot in the future next Super Doll Licca-Chan, Saber Riders and the Star Sheriff, Saint Tails, Lets & Go, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, Beast Wars, Tai Chi Chasers or Spider Riders.

I don’t necessarily agree with this. Hunter x Hunter 1999 for example has scenes that are better animated than stuff in the 2011 counterparts. Yeah sure Fist of the North Star is pretty mediocre animation, but I for one find that the old Urusei Yastura looks way better, and it’s not like the remake is leagues better than the original in terms of animation either. I don’t know, the new one looks pretty stiff in its animation which doesn’t compare well to the still images of the original. Also FMA 2003 is straight up better animated and directed than Brotherhood.

Urusei Yastura is pretty subjective, but I’ve seen animation analysis comparing Hunter x Hunter that have proven that the 1999 has some better animation. And for FMA, the common consensus from what I’ve seen is 2003 is better directed and animated, and I tend to agree. Yeah sure, Brotherhood is stronger in terms of story, but the original takes the presentation.

The OG like while the animation upgrade is cool..but nowdays there is too birght and too much chaos while og 80s and 90s anime have more heart and simplistic charm to them and the op is not a loud clusterheck of noises and autotune idol pop

It depends on the show really. Some things are enjoyable because there old. But some shows would be better watched if they had better quality.

Cant agree with you on some of this. While older anime had more nudity they somehow feel less fanservicey than new anime because new anim often put a lot more focus on the fanservice. And i cant at all agree that characters feel more alive in the newer animes. I much prefer the expressions in older anime compared to new ones. Also if you compare the music from stuff like maison ikkoku and kimagure orange road etc to new anime, the music in new anime just feels lifeless. (attack on titan is an exception) I would definitely not say animation is the most important part of anime at all either. animation is one of the factors of lowest importance to me ngl. the most important is story. I by no means think there shouldnt be any reboots. On the contrary, but more often than not the mess things up. but for example, i would love to see a berserk reboot. not because of the animation in the 1997 version but because of the fact that they skipped story and such. Better animation is symply just the cherry on top. Unnecessary but welcome none the less.

Why would Naruto need a remake? I can understand from beginning til maybe the zabuza arc but after that it was a damn solid anime. Got a great animating team and worked along side Kishimoto really well. It makes no sense to reanimated it.

i will wait until the new urusei yatsura anime ends to see which is better. i do like the new the update on the anime but the old anime still has alot of classic episodes that not sure the new anime can pull off yet.

I am sure glad they remade Legend of the Galactic Heroes which you showed the old but didn't mention the new, I don't think I would of ever watched otherwise. Kind of excited for the Ranma 1/2 remake, hard to top the pure vibes of the original but the previews look promising.

The Naruto anime was already good? Why would it need to be reanimated? It had a high budget and both manga author and animators worked well together. It was perfect the way it was.

New anime relies in shock humor, immature humor and its "polished look". Watch Neon Gensis, The Vision of Escaflowne, Project Ako, Cyber City ect This is stuff that I would be OK with my kid watching it and my parents.

I like remakes when they're done well, but some classics are called that for a reason and can never be topped. But I think the main way they win is getting a completely new generation for an audience as well as OG heads who might want to re-watch in shiny new form. Not into censorship though, weird how society is sliding backwards to more Puritanical views in even very niche areas. So sad that violence is more accepted than human biology these days, even in Hollywood, afraid of our own bodies much?

i can agree that animation is more advanced nowdays than 40 years ago, but watching urusei yatsura i felt like i am watching unfany soulles husk. fma has 2 alternative versions, and some reboots that recently happened literally make no sense, like spice and wolf for example, where non manga purist will only see one character gender swaped and not much more changed. we will see what ranma reboot bring to the table given it uses mostly the same cast, they might have some say in the matter of characters they play but kino's journey was a total downgrade, making climatic experience looking so generic, what was even the point? i can understand rebooting something when old production was halted part way and there is no way of continuing it without major changes, like fruit basket, although i have my nitpicks with sticking to one time period, shoehorning smartphones into 90's reality is meh but the show over all got an upgrade similarly to hunter x hunter dragon ball and sailor moon is more of milking the fandom situation one good reboot that changed almost everything inside and i can recomans full heartedly is mahoujin guru guru. it may look childish, but it is something worth watching, and for old fan of the series it is tear squizer at times you don't even see it comming. over all reboots for the sake of rebooting are the worst possible idea, those born from passion, not from greed are often a way to introduce new generation to older stories without boring them to deth but not always better than the oryginal. but if the production staff hits the home run, and do theyre homework, it is a pleasure to revisit old friends in new form

Naruto should be reanimated. The entire series is a hodge podge of different animation. I am now rewatching it with my kids and husband (they all love it) but just imagine this: Canon Naruto in fluid animation. This happened to Sailor Moon, and it is beautiful. New viewers would definitely flock to it.

(no hate) i wonder which has better animation one from 1980s or 2020s ofc modern anime has better animation, cant really expect demon slayer, jjk, csm, etc lvl animation from the 70s, 80s, 90s. best way to view older animes is to think its good animation for its time. and even studios today reuse animation and reuse mouth flaps like jojos, one piece, love is war, etc. depends on what studio made the anime and the staff.

It's all subjective in end though, personal preference if you will. For instance if you enjoy or think the old anime aesthetic are better. Amazing, fantastic, good. But if you find the new (not really big budget, but smoother animations of recent days) better, then that's also fine. I don't get people who are like "Fuck You Buddy, Old Anime Is Better Because (insert bullshit reason here)". Like calm down dude, were all here to enjoy somewhat the same thing, shaming people for not liking what you particularly like, is ridiculous to say the least. I don't know though

I was thinking the same. I thought Urusei Yatsura in both versions had a lot of nudity. Though, I wasn’t bothered (by the nudity) in either. I did think ‘81 was a little too close to the 70s though and it made my enjoyment of the older version difficult. I watched a bit of the series before the remake was announced. It probably didn’t help I was a little too connected to Rumiko’s other franchises like Ranma and InuYasha. I adored the 2022 remake though. Complete 180 opinion. From “too old” to “this is nice”.
