Heck yeah those are my jam and they are on instant savings at Sam's right now...20ct for less than$15 I put mine in the freezer then cut them in bite size pieces.. I typically get 6 or 7 bite sized pieces out of one bar.. I usually only have 2 or 3 pieces just to satisfy my sweet craving..

As a type 2 diabetic, we were taught to only deduct fiber from total carbs, not sugar alcohols since that are already in total carb count to get net carbs.

Also, have you tried the Fiber One brownies? They have chocolate brownie, birthday cake, coffee cake flavored treats. They sell them at Walmart and they come in a blue box. They have the carbs listed in front of the box, they’re like 5g carbs each. The chocolate brownie one is super good with whipped cream on top and the coffee cake one is delicious with some coffee! Lol

Those used to be my favorite, until they came out with these new atkins peanut butter protein wafer crisps snack bars. They have no maltitol! And it's absolutely delicious! I have 1 every day w my coffee. And it's never kicked me out of ketosis. Made it to my goal and now maintaining after losing 61 lbs in my journey. It tastes like a cheat, but its not!

Thank you for confirming what I’ve been suspecting. I used these as after dinner treats while on Keto (and they are delicious) but I always notice a few things when I eat them: I retain water, I wake up in the morning with an angry stomach, I have a slight headache, and my weight loss seems to stall. Also, like sugar, every time I eat one of these bars, I crave another one. Before I know it, the whole box is gone in a day or two. I need to avoid these entirely.

While your ketones dropped, I still think this might be a better option than breaking and having an actual candy bar. If your initial ketone reading had been higher, this wouldn't have dropped you out of ketosis, right? Thanks for all the great testing videos and providing some insight on your results. That wasn’t too bad really, but Atkins has started to reformulate using glycerin instead... I’ve tested those and they’ve been ok so far but am afraid to have the ones with maltitol. May just eat a 1/2 one if I do because that looks sooooo delicious

I check their website. That bar as 10 grams of maltitol. A lot of their other bars don't have that. So, the results might be different.

These are same ones for Aldi for half the price. They’re a perfect Babyruth dupe! I have 7 boxes I keep in my house for psychological reasons but after you do keto for a while you stop craving after a month so I rarely eat them. But at first I went a box a week. I think they are the exact same as these. They definitely spike. Once I found that out I was just getting over the crave of them thank god!

I feel like you set these bars up for failure. You started with .5 ketone. If you would have started with 1.0 you probably would not have gone out of ketosis. I don't test my ketones but I am diabetic and wear an insulin pump along with a continuous blood glucose monitor. I can eat these bars and sometimes they will spike me and sometimes they don't. There are so many things that affect blood sugar. I once spent a week eating the same things every day and the same basic activity level and some of the days my blood sugar ran high and some days they were low. There are so many things other than food that affect blood sugar levels. If you got enough sleep affects it, having an illness like a cold will cause my level to go high, if you eat too much protein without enough fat will spike it, etc...I think you should try the bar again with a better ketone level and see what happens. If it knocks you out of ketosis again then maybe don't eat them again. Testing something one time isn't enough to know the true results. The ingredients aren't great but once in a while I will do that bar as a "cheat meal" because the slimfast fatbombs just aren't sweet enough.

That is a real shame about these bars :(. Yep. I could’ve told you before you checked. Many so-called “ Adkins products” are merely using the name. Dr. Adkins passed away I believe before all these certain products came out. He would not have been OK with these products. Sugar-free candy is about the best thing you can get but you can only eat a couple of them to take care of the sweet tooth. Or sugar-free Jell-O with sugar-free whipped topping. There’s some other things. But you have to be really careful. I have lost weight on Adkins more than once. One time I lost 86 pounds. So I do know what I’m talking about. Some of us, this is the only way we can lose. It is the best diet as far as I’m concerned. The best lifestyle way to eat. It makes you feel better. At least it makes me feel better

I tested the Atkins lemon bar and cheesecake bar and they didnt slow my ketosis at all. I ate them both in the same night and my test the next morning was still the same, still heavily ketosing. Then I ate a frozen Indian rice and beans dinner the next day and my ketosis dropped from heaviest color to lightest color.

I have a question I heard another KZbinr comment that premier protein shakes had bad ingredients although I ask her about it she’s yet to respond. Do you know which protein shakes are the cleanest and why permier would not be considered clean?

When I was first keto about 2+ years ago, I used to eat Atkins bars all the time (I thought: 'They're low in net carbs, what can go wrong?'). Well, as you saw, they're generally not very good for staying in ketosis or for your blood sugar in general. Now, to be fair, I've found that personally my blood sugar and ketones suffered LESS with their bars that have no maltitol in them (some of them don't -- you just have to check the labels), but now that I've found things like 'Perfect Keto' bars or whatever instead, I just don't eat them anymore. One Atkins thing that I've had the biggest trouble letting go of is their bottled protein shakes (like this one: www.atkins.com/products/atkins-shakes/shakes/creamy-chocolate). Sometimes when I'm just really busy or tired and don't have the energy to make a more keto-friendly smoothie/meal replacement/snack, I just grab one of these to drink. I haven't had the heart to test my ketones and blood sugar afterward yet, though (partially because I'm scared to know, but also because, as I said, usually when I drink them, I don't have a lot of time/energy to see if they affect me badly.). Maybe sometime you can test one of those? As I said, I personally usually drink the larger ones that I linked earlier, but there are also smaller ones (about the size of a Premier Protein shake or whatever) that I also drink sometimes to get more protein in my day from time to time, as they are higher in protein. The good news is that the shakes don't have maltitol in them (at least from what I've found). Bad news is that they DO have sucralose and carrageenan. So, definitely not 'clean' keto in any way! LOL!

Kristi, I’m wanting to start this way of eating again. I tried it years ago for two weeks and lost weight but quit bc I was weak. 🙈 There wasn’t near as much available in the grocery stores as there are now. In fact, I would have had to order almond flour online but I didn’t get that far, I just did without any type of bread. There are now way more recipes I’ve noticed also. Have you had any problems with hair loss? I have a bit of a problem and don’t want it to get worse. Any good tips you have to help a beginner would greatly be appreciated! I was wondering how the Atkins bars were. Thanks for testing them out and letting us know the results you personally got. Kristi, I found a new keto ice cream, it's called SOLA, they have several flavors. Here in OK we have them at Reasor's and at Walmart I think. Would love to see you test them. Surprisingly they are the only keto ice cream I have found that don't make me sick to my stomach. I threw out all the Rebel, KETO, and Enlightened keto brand ice creams I've bought because each one makes me super sick to my stomach. I thought the same would happen w/ SOLA because they do have some sorbitol or mannitol, depending on the flavor, but it's less than 2% of each flavor and the primary sweetener is either stevia or erythritol. Would love to see if it affects blood sugars if you can find it. Atkins always spike me and every single one of the Atkins products makes me super sick to my stomach.

I would try stick to stevia. Stevia doesn't bring me down like sugar does, and it's made from leaves. maybe you can make your own stevia ice cream?

@@maxlee6676 Yep, I mostly use Stevia, & make my own ice cream. I always make my own whipped cream using my ISI whipper, but sometimes you just want to buy something to save yourself the time. I have found if I blend allulose, stevia, erythritol, coconut sugar, and monk fruit, I can use much less in recipes and the blend doesn't cause the stomach distress of using just erythritol. Normally I cannot use any maltitol, mannitol, or sorbitol because they really mess w/ my stomach. Chicory root is really hard my gut too. I find I have to avoid most products like Quest, Keto Perfect, Kiss my Keto etc. they all make me feel horrid.

Its true. I just bought too many atkins bars i thought i can eat only 1 during cheat day. But it was non stop. I eat minimum of 3 a day. Damn. My weight continously gaining back

Thank you for enlightening us! I can't tell you how many times I pickup the different Atkins bars and as soon as see the craziness on the back I drop it like a hot potato, feel the chemicals will take me out of ketosis just by holding the box...LOL This was great for a lot of beginners, sadly I hate that the wonderful name of Atkins gets put on these funky treats. Then people get frustrated at this lifestyle because they think their following the plan. I have been noticing if I have more than one "ketoized" treat in a day I'm up the next day. Like having a low carb mission tortilla, then some enlightened ice cream and a costco low carb protein bar. I think the fiber in them being hyped up really hits the body. So, again thank you for this video, it's making me re-think about keeping the "ketoized" stuff less stocked in my house, plus I am also a food addict and the stupid snacks call to me. Sticking to making my own snacks/treats that I know what is going into them... even those I try to limit to one at a time in the house. BLESSINGS & KETO-ON ... BE IT CLEAN, DIRTY OR LAZY!

looking back I agree i went the wrong way. basically got tired of cooking eggs and bacon so breakfast become a peanutbutter bar and a shake (both atkins) . lunch was a few handfulls of lettuce , fistfull of shredded cheese, ranch.... plus 2 peanutbutter bars and probably 2 shakes... dinner was usually meat meat and meat . midnight snacks where shakes and the same peanutbutter bars but plastered with Richards peanut butter which resulted in drinking the peanut butter, if youve ever had Richards, you know lol. i went from 280 to 195 in roughly 7 months. 2019. never took any supplements or drops or powders or oils i maintained that diet except for Saturday then i consumed half a cake from Kroger etc.

I was interested in asking mom to get the Atkins kept bars but since I have seen this video, I’m definitely not taking any chances for sure since I’m a Dialysis patient.👍🏻 I’m still hoping that mom will be able to find the Leto bars because I would love to try them. I think I did tell you that I have tried the fat bomb with caramel and nuts with chocolate and they are so awesome but I’m not doing them too often because I know that they have a lot of fat in them and I don’t want to gain weight. Very dangerous product. Was eating 3 a day. I know terrible. Gained weight. Cramps. Diarrhea gas. Terrible terrible product. All of the flavors. A waste. All chemicals and garbage. Tastes delicious though lol

I noticed a while back that the chocolate Atkins products had maltitol, so I avoid all those. Fortunately, my favorite peanut butter granola bar does not have it (per Atkins website). Also, the Honey Almond Vanilla Crunch Bites are maltitol free.

You were only at .5 when you started. It dropped to .2. So if you started at .8, you would have been fine. Just make sure your .8 or higher before you eat it.

Not trying to be the keto police but Maltitol is a sugar alcohol that is just as high in the glycemic index as sugar...thus one gram of it is around one gram of carbs and it cannot be subtracted from the total carb count...bad, yucky stuff Maltitol is listed twice on that ingredient list

I recently learned that certain sugar alcohols or substitutes like mannitol sends a signal to your brain and your body reacts just as though it was sugar. Bad stuff for me.
