Canada had a favorable path? USA had PANAMA and BOLIVIA?!?!? Charlie Davies talking a load of rubbish here, on what is he basing the USA being #1 in concacaf exactly? What players would the USA take from Canada? Davies, David, Larin, Kone, Shaffleberg, Bombito, Eustaquio, Johnston, Crepeau, Buchanan. You take a best 11 and there are more Canadian players than USA players. Man o Man, the delusion is real with USA fans, and maybe that is part of the problem.

yes, agree with everything you said ....I suppose every country is biased towards their own, but these guys are not making sense. ..BUT, Canada still needs to beat the US in a tournament to prove themselves as the top team. Its only a matter of time though, Canada players are much more passionate than American players and at least equal in talent. They are finally starting to play soccer like Canada plays hockey. Aggressive and relentless.

I realize the argument that USA is still NUMBER 1 is for arguments sake. The knock out may have more difficult on the USA side because Argentina deserves an easier path. The thing is THAT THE USA NEVER GOT TO THE KNOCKOUT STAGE! Let's also just level set and agree that the USA was given flat straight shot at landing a first or second spot in their group and it should have been a no-brainer to win. Panama had other ideas. So, the order is Canada, Panama, USA, Mexico.

@@THenry1412, all of the CONCACAF' tournaments, are played on the U.S. home soil. 95% of the U.S. matches are played with a HUGE homefield advantage. Canada only plays at home for about 15% of their matches. The last time that it was a fair home & away tournament, was in the 2022 qualifiers for the World cup & the U.S. tied 4th place Costa Rica for points & Canada beat both the U.S. & Mexico & was #1. The Gold cup is hardly a barometer, as many of CONCACAF''s best players don't participate. Canada was the runner-up in the 2023 Nations cup, despite the fact that the team was struggling back then, due to serious organizational union issues & their coach left the team. Chuck is dead wrong! Are you going to tell me that the U.S. didn't have the easiest path to the next round, with Panama & the worst team in the Copas, Bolivia??? Whether he liked the Canadian strategy or not, they won. Canada also won the 2022 qualifiers, while the U.S. tied 4th place Costa Rica for points. Unfortunately Canada ended up in the 'Group of Death' in that World cup. Where is your proof that the U.S. is better? What the Gold cup, when many of the best CONCACAF players don't participate? Or the Nations cup when Canada made it to the finals, when they were having union issues & losing their coach? By the way, in both of those tournaments, the U.S. has had a HUGE advantage of playing in their home field. As a matter of fact, the U.S. has homefield advantage in 95% of their matches, not counting Friendlies. Canada plays at home 15% of the time. If that happened in any other sport, people would scream bloody murder & it would never be acceptable at all; but FIFA is not about being credible, or fair, as it is all about money. I would gladly stack up Canada's top 7 players (Davies, David, Buchanan Eustaquio,, Kone, Johnston, who was outstanding in Copa & Shaffelburg); over the U.S. top 7 & Crepeau is better than the U.S. Keepers too. Somehow Chuck, the U.S. media, fans & podcasters have the delusional belief that their players are much better than they really are. Well, prove it!!! For now, the Canadians definitely are the Kings of CONCACAF & they did it on U.S. soil. The U.S. has performed poorly when they have played in fair home & away tournaments (2018 & 2022 qualifiers) & it looks like they won't be challenged on the road again until 2030...

Canada is the top team right now, but its a mediocre federation with most mediocre opposition tbh. Mexico is the most disappointing considering its rich history and some world class players over the years. This current Mexico team easily has to be the worst ever. @jrcanuck1 Ай бұрын
1972dsrai, you said that CONCACAF' is mediocre; but after the top 4 teams in Conmebol, the top teams in CONCACAF' are as good or better than the rest. Canada's secondary youth squad just outplayed the veteran Uruguay team for the vast majority of the bronze Copa match today. Unfortunately they lost in penalties; but they should have won by at least 4-2 & that is CONMEBOL's 4th best team. Hell, Canada played Argentina tough in both their matches too. Yes, Mexico has fallen; but Canada has basically taken their place. Panama & Costa Rica are improving too & if Jamaica could get their act together, they are also very talented. We'll see how the U.S. come out if all this, after they will have their new coach for a while.

Is Charlie Davies that ignorant? Come on, man! Canada was in a very difficult group with Argentina, Peru, and Chile. The United States had a more favourable group with Bolivia, Panama, and Uruguay. Fortunately, for Canada, they got out of the group thanks to a gutsy win against Peru, and a draw against Chile after losing to Argentina. Unfortunately, for the Americans, one stupid action from Tim Weah cost his team a chance to go to the knockout stage. I totally disagree with Canada being the "kings of CONCACAF." Until they beat the USMNT on American soil-a feat they have not accomplished since 1957-and win the Gold Cup, please don't crown them kings of the region.

@bibleberean, the U.S. plays 95% of their matches on home soil & Canada about 15%, due to a money hungry FIFA & CONCACAF'. We are not talking ancient history. When the U.S. played CONCACAF countries fairly, with home & away matches, the U.S. didn't qualify for the 2018 World cup & in the 2022, they tied 4th place Costa Rica for points & Canada was #1. Unfortunately Canada's pool in that World cup was the 'Group of Death'. Just for the record, the U.S. has not beaten Canada in Canada in over 27 years... Given what just occurred in the Copas, in addition to the Qualifiers, it is only fair to say that Canada is for now, the King of CONCACAF.

This Kings of Concacaf conversation is stupid. I'm a Canadian but I know where the teams all stand in terms of form and results. The top 8 are in order: USA - MEXICO - CANADA - PANAMA - COSTA RICA - JAMAICA - HONDURAS - EL SALVADOR. The next 4 are very close and debatable: Guatamala, Trinidad, Haiti, Martinique, Curacao. However, having said that, the steps between all of these adjacent levels are not large. The one thing that Americans and Mexicans must understand is that they play a LOT of tournaments in a home-like environment whereas the other five are playing mostly on the road. Take a look at the ELO rankings and you will see this...

@@ashen_BA-Pillman Maybe. Maybe not. Clearly the US has been winning all the recent silverware, indicating that they can reliably prevail against Canada, Mexico and Panama. Canada has performed well against Panama, but the record between Mexico and Canada is quite thin since Qatar qualifying, where Canada edged out Mexico. The next Nations League and Gold Cup should be very interesting. What makes the question difficult is the home and away nature of soccer. Very tough to travel to Mexico and beat them. And the US is like a 2nd home to Mexico, and so Canada playing in the US is an away match against not only the US, but also Mexico. In fact, it's an away game against many Latin American sides who have large fan bases in the US. The only true indicator of supremacy would need to be home and away matches against each competitor in a tournament format, and the last time CONCACAF did that was the Qatar qualifying where Canada came out on top. We consistently have lost to the USA since, but always on US soil, so the USMNT's supremacy always has an asterisk beside it. Unfortunately, CONCACAF won't have another true tournament until 2030 World Cup qualifying. If the next NL finals and the next Gold Cup were held in Canada, or Mexico, are you confident the US would still come out on top? I'm not so sure but will give them the benefit of the doubt as I have no proof to the contrary because those tournaments are now always held in the USA.
