iiluminaughtii. Idk if you’ve been following that whole saga but if you haven’t there are so many great videos. Cruel World Happy Mind, tehmini (I think that’s how their channel is spelled) and Swoop made full blown deep dives into the situation. This situation goes beyond just normal KZbin drama. Hi, I worked in a hello fresh/factor facility and it was dreadful. It’s either hot and wet, or be dry and frigid in other parts. You’re expected to work non stop if you’re on 8 hour shifts, and get two fifteen minute breaks if you’re working 10+ The forklift and other machinery drivers expect for the halls to be clear but don’t double check if they are. My boss was kind but the other workers were very cold. Understandably so, but ANY rule that wasn’t followed to the letter could mean punishment or termination on the spot. Awful. My husband and I recently cancelled our Green Chef which is associated with Hello Fresh and it was a Nightmare to cancel. So many hoops to jump through. I've been using HF lately and it has really helped get us out of the meal planning rut we were in and now I feel bad for it. Also "free breakfast for life, my butt" is extremely accurate. It's 2 servings of a singular breakfast item each week.

Meal planning is a skill that needs to be learned and worked on. Once you're good at meal planning you learn to look at ingredients that might be in bulk (like carrots) and know how to use them in multiple meals. I feel like you can meal plan meals at a cheaper cost to you than a meal kit. I tried a meal kit service in 2013 (Blue Apron) and it was a "meh" for me.

I think cost efficiency is very dependent on where a person lives, how many people are using the service, and one’s income. If you’re located near a store that sells good quality food at decent prices, the meal kit might easily cost more than a typical grocery store trip.

I used HF for around 18 months. I did find that it encourages cooking for me, that the cooking process was simple and fun, and that the resulting meals were good. I don’t think it’s a saving versus grocery shopping, but I didn’t expect that. I had a couple of frustrations and eventually got a bit tired of it and cancelled but would be open to trying it again down the road.

The value of HelloFresh has always been questionable to me. The employee treatment information makes me dislike them greatly. I wish more people knew how to make food from canned beans/veg and frozen veg/fruit/seafood. It is so much easier for cheap, lazy cooks who do not want waste. I rarely plan and always can get food together quickly-chili, stew, stir-fry, baked fish, burrito bowls, pasta and more with minimal effort.

@@india1422 I agree. I do think a lot of people who have fallen for meal kits are victims of the way food gets framed narrowly in the US, stigmatizing minimally processed frozen/canned goods as less than fresh,. More people should know frozen veg/fruit is often more nutritious than fresh. For those who want fresh for texture, I get it, but the effort level for many recipes might not need to increase for the majority of ingredients you are adding

We have HF for quite some time, as my husband learned to cook with their recipes. He needed the step-by-step explanations, and I didn't want to take the mental load to teach him. Maybe the German branch is better?!

I didn't expect to like it when we tried it, 3 years later we still use it. It saves me money because I don't go shopping as often and therefore don't buy impulse buys I don't need. It also keeps us out of a food rut. It's great to not have to think every day about what to make for dinner. We have learned some new cooking techniques and it helped us teach our daughter to cook. We do only get it every other week since we make 2-3 hello fresh dinners a week, not 4-5. We love it.

One reason we tried it was so we didn’t have to think about dinners and we could try new things. It didn’t save us money in the end but I also ordered groceries for pick up or delivery so I don’t see the extra stuff to impulse buy. I’m glad that it has helped you though.

I get not liking going to the grocery store. I don't really like it. What i've found is getting groceries delivered is still much cheaper than a meal kit service (plus not eating animal products, I'm not sure if I can use any of them), even with a generous tip. As far as wanting to save time and reduce waste because of rotting, lots of stuff can be found frozen these days, even basics like onions.

This was very eye opening. We were considering trying them out, but now we will think twice. I think this was a fair critique of the company as you understood that if certain information couldn't be verified to take it with a grain of salt like the employee handing out fliers or the monkey labor. Some companies have a zero tolerance policy for certain behavior, and maybe passing out fliers about unionizing was something they had zero tolerance for. Most companies are employ at will companies, and they can fire you for any reason, granted it wasn't due to discrimination or anything unethical. I seriously doubt that employee was demoted because their English wasn't good because if that was the case, they never would've gotten that position to begin with. If it was for handing out fliers, then they should've just been honest. I can't remember if you said they were demoted or fired. I can understand that certain positions may require that the employee speak very clear English depending on their responsibilities. For example, my husband does landscaping and he is bilingual and when he worked for other companies he always got promoted to a supervisor positionfiast, and one reason was that he is bilingual because the supervisors have to talk directly to the customers everyday so they have to be able to communicate with them, but again, I don't think that's why they got demoted either. If the monkey labor accusations are true, then that's terrible. The difference between that and police dogs is 1. Dogs love to be with people, and they want to please their caretaker and 2. Like you said, many breeds are working dogs, and they need a job to do. Monkeys do not prefer the company of humans to other monkeys, and they could care less if they please us. Even if the accusations about the monkeys and employee treatment aren't true, your experience and the recent reviews are enough for me to decide to pass them up. A lot of KZbinrs I like are sponsored by them, and maybe they don't know. It's definitely not information that's as well known as say the unethical practices of Temu and Temu is making the problem of massive over consumerism so much worse because of the greedy KZbinrs that promote them and do these massive hauls with junk they don't need. I'm definitely not a minimalist, but we live in a 30-foot converted shuttle bus, so we can't have much . I absolutely love shopping and getting new things at a great price just like the next person, but living a simpler life has shown me how little I really need to be happy and survive. Anyway, that's not what your video was about, but it was definitely very informative, and I'm glad I'm more educated about this company now.

even in todays digital age, negative will always travel and have a bigger pool compared to positive, when you look at reviews a lot of the time the positive reviews are short and might be one word sentences while negative reviews will often be bigger, more in depth and detailed. It's why word of mouth is such a double edged sword when it comes to marketing. As for HF, I wouldn't buy any of these meal delivery order things, just order your shit from whatever store you would normally buy from and buy a cook book, close your eyes and open a page bam that's your dinner.

I do not personally think it’s affordable cause I still need lunch food (remember no leftovers) and my husband and I don’t always want the same thing to eat :he eats large portions so I’d have to get the meals for 4 instead of 2, which would give me leftovers but it’s more expensive. I loved the meals, recipes, ingredients all there. I get why they can’t make it super cheap but regularly it’s not in my price range. I personally disagreed with claims that say it’s cheaper than grocery shopping, plus if you think about it you’re only getting the portion you need for one meal whereas with groceries you’re getting more than one meals worth typically.

@@monicahayworth I'm guessing you're not familiar with the meme format I was using? My comment was copy-pasta and a joke.

I think the "can't afford the products they make" is a bit silly. Hello fresh is kind of a luxury service by the means of convenience. All workers can likely afford one meal delivery service weekly. It's like someone working at Volkswagen assembly. They might be able to afford an entry Jetta but they won't be able to afford the Atlas.

That’s a good point to make. I’d say that a hello fresh kit is a bit different from being able to afford a car though. For me it’s more that these people are getting injured on the job and they can’t afford one box which could be less than $100 pre employee discount. I know injuries happen at more than just hello fresh, it just seems from the claims that it’s excessive and a bit of a problem.

I am a legal assistant for a California employment law firm. I am glad there is no union, because I have yet to see one case where the union has done anything to help the employees. And the worst part is that because there's a union, we no longer can help them with their claims as they have to go through the grievance with the union. It's terrible. They have a better chance of getting help with no union and hiring a good law firm

Thank you for that insight! I’m not familiar with the legalities behind all of that so thank you for commenting this!

Unions are amazing when they have a president behind them that actually cares. I watched my union at my job go from being useless because we had a corrupt president to a family that fought alongside us every step of the way. We almost went on strike last year and our president was marching with us at every info picket and made sure we kept going even after having the cops called on us. We went from .25¢ raises to dollars. Just wanted to give my experience because good unions do exist. They are finally coming back and as they get popular again, we will see a large emphasis on genuine union leadership.

@@FrauStormm I sure hope so! I see so many pregnancy and sexual orientation discrimination cases on a weekly basis that we can't assist on because the Potential Client is part of a union and it breaks my heart

Thanks for the feedback. This isn’t AI. I had to do a voiceover with stock broll. Unfortunately with a toddler it’s hard to film and we don’t show her face on the internet (which obviously means I don’t want her on screen) so I had to do this late at night when everyone was asleep.
