If you're scared that bending over or deadlifting in the gym will destroy your back, you could be right. Today's video will break down what you should do.
►► FREE GUIDE: How I used exercise to cancel my back surgery after a ruptured L5-S1 disc and live chronic pain-free today = www.fitness4backpain.com/painfreetraining
Deadlifting in the gym and bending over to pick up your kids at home isn't much different in nature. Essentially, you're bending over and lifting an object.
If your lower back is killing you, odds are the deadlift is something you stay clear of or maybe even blame for the back pain you experience now.
If that's you, I want to break down why the deadlift isn't actually what caused your lower back pain and what you should do to get back to bending without fear and maybe even deadlifting in the gym.
Enjoy

Everybody is different, but one has to keep in mind the risk vs rewards of performing an exercise. Maybe find work arounds

At the moment I don't do deadlifts, there is no way I can get the technique right or if I do it moderately well I feel pain in my back. Maybe it's some mental block, I don't know so I prefer to avoid it. Anyway, I train my hamstrings using the harmroller some days with both legs and other days using just one leg. On the other hand, I think the worst exercise is not exercising. There are several exercises that cause some discomfort in my back, and when that happens I try to find an alternative. For example, front flyes with two dumbbells at the same time cause a lot of discomfort in my back, even with low weights, something that doesn't happen to me if I use a disc. In the case of this dumbbell exercise, what I do is do one arm first and then the other. For years what I did was stay in bed taking some medication, using the heating pad, limiting my activities. A year ago I started training by lifting weights (I started with very little, I didn't even have the strength to do a single push-up!), months ago with swimming and some tai chi, there are days when I have discomfort but they are the least. Do I have discomfort? Yes, especially on days when I work long hours or have a bad position at the computer. To summarize, it works for me to look for alternatives to exercises, maybe in the future I can or can't do the things that don't work for me.

Afters suffering with Sciatica for two years I was having zero success with anything else so I thought “what the hell” and started deadlifting again. Just kept it light, like 100-120kgs and did higher reps with good form and it’s been a game changer for me. Sciatica has pretty much disappeared

Hey 👋🏻I’ve been in and out of back pain for years and one thing that’s I’ve never managed to get on top of as I get back to strength work is the ability to flex my lower back and forward bend through the lumbar spine. I’m 9 months since my last injury and feel confident that my disc isn’t herniated anymore however those erectors are locked in spasm. I’d love to hear your advice on what can be done to overcome this as trigger ball work and core strengthening hasn’t ever really done anything in regard to reviving this motion

Great content. You should lower the background music. 😉

I've been doing them with dumbells. If you pull the weight to your side on the lift you can relieve some stress on the back unlike using a straight bar.

hi, wanted to ask your opinion on the deadbug exercise. So do you recommend the exercise with a flat back(posterior pelvic tilt) or neutral spine?
