I got this MG740 Plus and its bloody fantastic - Great content Andy! By the way the Tyres are awesome, so plush and solid, im topping 700 miles and still no punctures as they only run at 20 PSI. Wonder what having 3 motors would be like, 2 hubs and 1 mid drive. Have them all geared differently as well, one motor for high acceleration low top speed, one for high top speed low acceleration, and one a mix of both.

I’ve just had the 740plus delivered and i can say it’s the dogs bollocks. I’m a 19 stone man in my 50s and most ebikes unless they are fitted with duel motors won’t be getting you up most hills. But having duel motors is a game changer. Love this bike and the price is good for what you are getting. £1600 delivered to your door. Best ebike I’ve owned, 100% satisfaction.

I love my Philodo AWD. I had it for months before I realized AWD only works with the throttle, cruise, and walk function. It does not engage in pas alone. But it is not really needed then, as I can get almost 35 mph with just the one motor and the battery lasts longer. I am racking up the miles, this old man loves his ebike that makes me feel 16 again😀 I also know that if my rear motor burns out on the trail, I should be able to get home on the front. I love this bike.

It’s gonna be way more torquer, but the top speed will be roughly the same (it’ll just take longer to get to the top speed)..and battery drain is quicker.

For the poor buggers who found their MG 740 plus came restricted: press and hold the + & - buttons. The P menu will show on the screen. Then use the + /- button to scroll up/down to P03. Once there press the "i" button and a number below will flash. Use the +/- buttons to take it up to Maximum number (u will also use the P menu to switch between KMh /Mph). Once you have it at the highest number. Press the "i" button and then press and hold the "i" button. Congratulations- this bike will now go 49KMh/30Mph. Better to use both motors on flats and commutes for better power/weight ratio and will ensure 1 motor isn't doing all the work meaning less stress on 1 motor over time. You will also get to speeds a lot quicker. This feature is also really good as an anti-theft tool. After each use, I drop the P03 to 1 before I turn the bike off. If someone manages to break the lock- they won't be going anywhere quick at 1 kmh/1mph.. the P menu also allows you to turn on password mode, meaning anytime the bike is switched on, a 4 digit pin code will be required (and you can set and change this code as many times as you like). The bike is a heavy beast but she takes the roads very well. I've gone from punctures and new tyres every other week to no punctures for a year. The tyres have also stood yo very well in 12 months. I only had to change 1 tube but that was my fault because I wasn't looking when I fed the chain through the spokes when locking up and I pulled on and tore the valve. Even changing the tube was really simple (the joys of KZbin tutorials). It's a really good design, the front and back controllers are housed inside the frame and that can be accessed (if necessary) by unscrewing the battery baseplate on the frame and underneath the baseplate you will find 2 compact controllers with easy connectors. The wires lead out on both ends and are nice tucked with zip ties. Some people don't like look and prefer everything tucked away- but this is better, it's accessible and adjustable without needing to remove the battery base plate every time and it is actually a good look on this bike. I switched out the pedals straight away but that was due to personal preference and I still have the originals as they are very good quality spares. For the speed freaks- don't be disappointed that you can't go 100KMh/ 63 Mph. There is really no need. It's still a bike and as good as the brakes are to stop a 48kg twin motor 2000w ebike going 49KMh/30Mph- I.wouldn't trust them as much with higher speeds. The battery life is what it is- depending on how you're riding. I suggest charging the battery after each use so it's always on full and your charge time is smaller (who wants to wait 5-6 hours?) Safety first, never leave an e-bike / e scooter battery on charge and unattended and never use different chargers. I bought this bike from great seller on e-bay and they had manufactured a precise panier rack for this large framed bike with 26×4 inch wheels. You need the panniers to transport heavy duty locks and some tools. The bike can really carry a lot of weight. I weigh around 100kg, the bike with the battery is around 50kg, I've added the pannier rack and bags and I often carry 20-30kg in additional weight and the bike handles it very well. The downside is the size- u need to have somewhere spacious and safe to store it. You can just free cycle it but I really don't recommend it due to the weight. When out and about- it's a real head Turner. I'm very picky about where I leave it locked up and I'm always looking at better locks etc to better deter. The size and weight takes a little getting use to, particularly if you are someone quite small. If you think you won't be able to manoeuvre a 50kg bike around or you don't have the safe place to store it when you are home, don't buy it- but as for the rest of you- you won't regret it. 👍

I have a ~5kW dual motor bike I built myself. it's an absolute hoot to ride. Climbs stairs like they're not even there, hills are but a minor inconvenience, and with phase weakening enabled it is absolutely stupid downhill!! I've had it past 60 once with a slight tailwind. It gets to about 57 without*... And It's probably the single sketchiest things I've done so far bar none!! The only thing it really doesn't do all that well with is snow and ice. FWD does a far better job at keeping you upright, RWD is fun for keeping the tail sideways, and AWD is absolutely marvellous for keeping the entire thing sideways... at a 90* angle. * Should note that that speed was not performed on-road. It was performed on disused road space where no traffic comes through because fuck trying that shit on a main road near me!!

I was wondering the same thing. My guess he doesn't live in the mountains. I've tried to like hub motors but everyone I've tried can't get up the hills where I live unless you're running super high wattage and/or standing on the pedals. A 750 watt/1280 watt peak bbs02 with the right gearing climbs all the hills around me like a billy goat and it doesn't suck batteries dry after 20 miles. In this video we see a 1000 watt rear hub stall on the hills and it's probably hitting 2000 peak when climbing. With the same or lower wattage a comparable mid-drive will just climb way better because of the right gearing.
