Had 42 out of mine, 52v 1000w hub on the flat. Takes off like a rocket and i love it. Mate built it for me and dont cost hardly nothing to charge. Does 40 miles distance at various speeds, and use an old battery to get extra 20 miles when good battery dead. Wouldnt be without it now.😊

Seriously? 1000 watt hub wheel / 52V batt? What type of controller that gave you such speeds? I installed a 1500 w rear hub ( Ebikeling ) + 48V 14AH Battery (generic amazon) + 25A Controller on a older 2010 Giant hardtail MTB 26" 2.25 Wide all-terrain tire -- and its max is 32MPH flat road throttle only.

Can't seem to comment the link for the petition. If you Google make ebikes 20mph you'll find it. It ends July 17 i think. Would just be good if the community make a point and sign it as we all seem to think it yet no one seems to take action making it happen. And if you and people like Andy put a video out about signing it then it will gain traction, that's what we need. Baby steps and we will soon have normal, idealistic laws.

Get tires designed for the travel surface. Some people might prefer an eMTB for normal use, but road tires are still best if it's on pavement. Any tires not designed for pavement will wear out many times as fast on pavement, ride isn't as smooth, waste energy on pavement vs smoother tread.

Afaik the 10-12 cassette's all use the same dimensions, the sprockets are just thinner as is the chain ( overall width of the cassette doesn't change ). At least I can change between 10 and 11 without issues, not having tried a 12 but as I said they should be using the same width all 3 of them. I'm mostly using my 15-13-12-11 sprockets in the back though, so I don't know why I would add complexity ( and thinner chains which don't do well with me middrive anyway ) for no real gain. I am actually looking more at either going smaller for a new setup ( less gears overall, but same range between top and bottom ), or even an internal hub in the rear wheel. Alfina 8 speed, more reliable then the 11 speeds and a bit cheaper. Ofc I would love a Roelhoff, but I aint paying 1300 euro's for just a rear hub even if it has a 14 speed internal gearbox. That would be my dream setup I guess, nice powerful enough mid drive coupled with a belt transmission and an roelhoff rear hub. So much less headaches with maintenance, or even possible repairs. And in the end I am sure I would be cheaper of that way, as needing to replace chains+cassete's every ~800km or so on it's own already adds up to lots of costs. Proper belt drive can do tens of thousands even with more power coming from a middrive.

@@DudeStuff You're still rebuilding them with smaller cassettes if you're shoving in those 2kw hubs or you don't have the clearance in the dropouts. Through axle rear hubs are 142mm vs 141 QR hub's on most budget bikes still. There were some 150mm boost through axle's on some expensive DH bikes, I recon you could shove a hefty motor on one of those and have ample clearing/space for big cassette. Which would mostly come in handy so you can run a gigantic front sprocket so your 11t on the rear stays useful on higher speeds, but you have a really big gear still so you can peddle slowly and keep up with granny behind her walking aid on the narrow pedestrian crossing. Which is mostly only an issue btw if you don't use a throttle and want to feel like your peddling is actually effective in controlling the bike.
