There are a few cheap yet effective mods that you have overlooked which is polishing and/or porting the cylinder head, oval valve springs, ceramic coat the parts where heat is passing through such as the cylinder head and the whole car's exhaust system to keep the temperatures down in the engine bay to get a least 10+ horsepower as I have heard about from a Wheeler Dealers episode where they were restoring an old classic car can achieve.

Plus the old clubrsx advice- steps 1-3 Learn to drive🙂

Tires, wheels, suspension are the keys. You didn't mention adding a sway bar, which will dramatically improve handling and responsiveness. Also, adding a throttle booster will improve performance.

I drive 2015 Ford Focus titanium, with the 5 speed in it. essentially a non boosted ST (even has snowflakes on it lol). just bought a quality catback exhaust. I’m still low mileage but what impact does the motor mount make? I see it on ST forums all the time but never understood it. also, assuming yours is also not boosted since it’s a 5 speed, what kind of tune are you running if you’re running one? I can only find eco boost tunes for the ST and I’ve done a ton of research and I’m stumped on where to go. any advice from anyone seeing this it would be greatly appreciated lol

1. "Driver mod" 2. A good set of tires 3. Coilovers 3. Exhaust things (ie mufflers, headers, etc) My car is probably pushing 400-435 RWHP (have not yet taken it to a dyno - just email tunes). Might be pushing 475-500 RWHP in the next few months. The power upgrades have been great fun, but I can't stress enough how much good tires and coilovers transformed the experience.

So the last part. Bushings 100% help if the originals are bad, or you go to solid bushings right off the bat. Strut bars on the other hand so more to remove money from your wallet than help your handling on newer cars. I had a perrin strut bar on my 2013 sti. I swore up and down it helped. Saying crap like "less body roll" and "handles like it's on rails", the typical bs. I had a shop install my iag aos, which mounts on the firewall, right in the path of the strut bar. So the removed the bar and put it in the trunk without telling me. I drove for months still thinking this thing was helpful. Finally someone in a FB group asked if the aos and strut bar fit together. I was like "hell ya it does, I have both. I'll run and take a Pic to prove it". Ran out to my sti, popped the hood, and realized the bar was gone. The car drove, handled and everything the same with and without the bar. P.s. I did figure out what the noise in the back was. Pps. If you're not looking for something missing, you don't realize it's gone until you look for it.
@n0z4a2433 жыл бұрын
I will say my old rsx type s which had previous frame and bad body damage that was "fixed" by a local shop. Did get improvements from having the strut bars, b and c pillar bars. That's only because of the already weak frame and body from the accident. When I tightened bars up all the way, the sun roof wouldn't open lol.

I think good headers or exhaust manifold, and no or very few restrictions in the pipe. Definitely an egr delete, sway bars to reduce body roll and anything that could make the body stiffer such as strut braces and if it's a soft top, get a hard top. Sticky tyres, and light rims that are wider than the stock ones with lower profile tyres to reduce tyre roll. Slightly more camber. And last probably a modest wing or spoiler. Nothing ridiculous that would create huge drag but something to make a little bit of downforce for high speed. Day 1 "so you want a Suzuki Vitara"

The egr system actually helps cool the air fuel mixture so if you delete it the combustion will be hotter and depending on the car it may even put you into detonation area so you're pcm will pull back timing and overall lose power. If you delete egr you must get it tuned and the most likely the air fuel mixture will have to be a bit more rich to maintain it cool.
