Glarry is just the Arizona tea or Costco hot dog of the guitar world

Common man... It's less than $100 bucks for Xrist sake. It's sounds okay. No serous shredder is gonna be playin' it. Give 'em a break.

I bought mine in 2020 knowing it would be...cheap. I worked on it and it rocked. It still sounds muddy because of the pickups but it's a different sound to use.

Well, I'm from Georgia, so it makes sense. 😅

Cheap guitars like this just BEG to be modded. At that price, one could "Sacrifice it to the Mod Gods" and learn how to replace the frets, refinish, replace parts, etc... and not worry if the guitar gets ruined in the process. It has potential, just not for younglings who just want to play guitar.

Oh, yeah they certainly have their place in this world and it is 100% modding and learning to repair.

I bought mine new in 20 or 21. Also try tuning to a C standard. Size 10's work fine. Just don't use the trem...ok.

Lets see, deck the bridge, because its never going to be good, Clean up and lube the nut, clean up the frets and oil the board, a new set of strings.. and providing the tuners don't slip, this guitar could be passable.. But its likely you would have to replace the tuners, as they are so very cheap that they likely slip. Of course I left out intonation and truss rod adjustment to lower the action to a passable level, but I assumed that would be done as part of the setup. The pickups will need to be raised or lowered to dial them in for a passable sound.. The thing about these guitars is, they require at least a decent setup and at most some nut work and new tuners to be acceptable, even for their low price. If this were on sale for like 50 dollars, they might be worth it.. Providing the truss rod works and you want to do some work on them... I do like the shape of this, but the lack of any setup on them makes them basically impossible to play out of the box, so they are not beginner guitars, they never will be without work.. Now if someone was buying them and doing the work on them and reselling them for a decent price, then they could be beginner guitars.. Drop tuning this guitar out of the box, won't really help it stay in tune, but I get it. If someone really wanted to use that bridge, it would require work beforehand, because out of the box it is only useful for looks lol. I have seen Fender guitars that can't stay in tune using their trem, that style of trem is bad without work on them first.. Though I did see a fella take one of those and set up the trem to work, and it did its job. Mind you, it will never be as good as a two point trem can be, or even a Floyd Rose can be, but some wobbles it can likely be made to function for lol... Honestly, these should come with hard tale bridges, because a trem is always going to have tuning stability at this price level..

got one - replaced the pups with fake invaders and a rail for middle - still havent intonated- will be decent (I think). Does Glarry use HPL: for the fingerboard? I like the weight and balance. The basswood body has a cool resonance - unplugged . Getting a Glarry with a usable nut - maybe 1 in 5. If Glarry added $10 for a decent nut (or say offered a set of decent nut files for $16) then could be a relative bargain . btw - their Jazz bass pickups seem pretty good. Their 25.5" scale bass is snappy and weighs about s much as their 34 inch scale models due do a dense wood body - the finishes are weird - like almost luminescent yellow tint and red that looks like red tempera paint. Your plying is great. I've only played a little bass- am old and can barely lift a guitar or move arms s/o pain. Cheers !

The relic of that one B.C. Richardson anyone? No more John Richmond at Georgia after the Brexit, uh?! I don't know. Namastè.

It's garbage like that that discourages beginners. Worse yet, if a parent or grandparent buys it for their kid/grandkid, and knows nothing about guitars, they've set them up for failure. But what does Glarry care - they got their money....if it doesn't get returned. But as a "project" guitar, I could see it. Use it to learn setups, wiring, pickup swaps - things like that.
@Electric.Flamingo2 ай бұрын
Agreed. 100% great from learning to work on them and, perhaps if you do, they are decent guitars. But out of the box, no.

I recently watched a video from Phillip Mcknight where he argues that budget guitars are not made for beginners, even if his arguments were not only about this, I think that it reinforces the point. Beginners should never buy (or even get gifted) such a shitty guitar, unless they know someone who knows about guitars who can help them and they get it set up first, then it might be good enough. Do some Glarry guitar sets also include an amp? Because I do NOT want to hear how that would sound.
@Electric.Flamingo2 ай бұрын
You can get a kit with the amp, but this one did not come with it. I agree, it isn't worth it for a beginner to get one of these. Mod platforms for beginners? Like learning to work on them? Absolutely. Learning to play? No.
