Hot tenting can cost some money and it’s a lot of work when all is set and done. You can’t beat the warm environment, comfort and drying out wet clothes. Nice set up and camp

So many options out there. This combo works. I do wish there was one section of pipe for the stove, but it’s fine for the most part. I did have a few ember holes. Little ones I just patched up. I ordered a spark arrestor. Should be here soon and I’ll update. Thanks for watching!

I really enjoyed the video. For your sleep system. Small tip. I would look at getting a non Amazon knock off sleep pad. Thermorest 4 season pads r6-9. Are a true r value and you will not need the extra reflective mats. I’ve been checking these tents out for a while now to make it a little less work for taking my little guy out.

I love hot tent camping. I’m from Canada and I camp year round. Some of my favourite camping is hot tent with a wood stove. People are lazy!! And complain about how much work it is. But I enjoy the process yes it’s hard and tiring etc but enjoying the process for me is part of the fun. Even in -30-40 degree’s Celsius I enjoy the process and cooking on the stove, relaxing in peacefulness and the beauty in the forest and lake areas I go to. My son and I live to get out and enjoy nature and the winter camping!!! ❤️🏕️🥶

Have dove in hard on the hot tent thing this year! Just got my One Tigris Rocdomus hammock tent, (same one that Buckley has), and taking it out on its maiden voyage this week. I started out with a tepee tent last November. So much fun, but yes, quite a bit of work... In summertime, it’s crushing miles. In wintertime, it’s gathering and processing wood.

It's a lot of work, but you have to consider it from a survival aspect as well. How many stranded peoples' lives would have been saved if they'd packed one of these on their winter trip? Food, warmth, shelter. Just having a small stove tent as part of your car's emergency kit can be a lifesaver. One thing of note is that you need to have the proper sized stove for your tent. The OneTigris stove is a bit small for a tent that large, and larger stoves can also accept larger pieces of wood. It also helps if you have more than one person to help tend the fire at night.

These tents can save lives. I’ve done it. This stove and tent combo are what’s recommended for use. A bigger stove could actually melt the tent. I’ve seen that as well. We typically do t let the stove burn overnight. We rely on propose sleep systems. However. When we have burned overnight, we took turns. Great point. Thanks for watching!

@@robpelton Whatever the coldest he is here in the Boise area. There’s BLM not too far away where I plan on camping alone. I may eventually get up into the mountains, we will see. So I might see some single digits F* depending on how the winter goes. If I get up into the mountains, below zero. The problem with living in the Mountain West is all the beautiful tree filled areas are higher in elevation and you get a lot of snow.

I can't justify the usage where I live, I can understand it where you live. The temperature control is the big thing. The fan is a great idea BTW. Anytime you camp in below zero temps, it is pretty much constant work, tent or no. But the tent definitely allows you the chance to legit 'warm up'. I've been on some trips where I didn't feel super warm the entire trip. Hope you are feeling better !

I tried a new brand,Pomoly. I like their large stainless steel tent stove with the glass viewing window and window grill, it is really enjoyable during wood burning. What is most important is it will not cost you too much.

I got a hot tent and stove for Christmas. Its the cheapest ones on Amazon and just a bit smaller than the one you have. Its like $150 for the tent and very manageable to set up by yourself. Not the best quality but for the money its worth it. I got it out once now and it was fun. I like how you said we're just giant kids with money.

Exactly. Where I live, warm/hot weather is 1/4 of the year. Why would I want to limit myself to summer camping? I actually enjoy the hot tent experience over summer camping. Anyone can camp when it's warm. And the added bonus of empty campgrounds when you do use one.

Very nice. I wish I would've invested in this at the beginning of the cold season last year. At this point, I might as well wait until next fall now. Also, we haven't had enough snow/cold in my area to really make it worth it. I'd have to drive 3+ hours to get into any really good snow. I like this setup, though.

I'm a 68 yr old lady that teaches local young 'uns what to if they find themselves in a "situation". I am in Northern Wisconsin and I use a small wood stove when I go out Ice Fishing. I can't begin to tell you how the warmth from that stove- either in a ice shanty or tent feels when your feet are numb and your hands aren't far behind!

Why is everyone saying it's expensive to hot tent? Outdoor activities are basically all expensive if you buy the best stuff. I bought a stove on sale for 330$ and a 4 person tent for 130$. My other outdoor gear cost me about 6000$- 8000$... so other tents, sleeping bags, stoves, clothing etc... It's like saying hiking is expensive because a good jacket and hiking boots will cost you at least 400- 500$.

Not after the 1st burn. Even then, it was minimal.

how do you prevent burn holes in the tent?

After some trial and error, I try to burn good dry wood and use a spark arrestor. In addition to that, I try to get the top of the chimney high and away from the tent. A 45° elbow is perfect for this. I ended up using tear tape to patch the little burn holes. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Careful those little stoves are a joke the chimneys are undersized, and you need to clean it every day or you will not wake up in the morning? I would get an adapter and size the chimney up 1" this should work better just saying 🙂

Well, of course these have been used for centuries, but not on the level it is now. Hot tents have boomed in popularity these last couple of winters. There are many more companies producing tents now. Kind of like people have been drinking water since the dawn of man, but Evian made it cool in modern times. Thanks for watching!

@@robpelton I get it, I'm a fan of old school canvas. Heavy as heck but pretty bullet proof. I find the newer Sil tents interesting but, how would they hold up over years of use, compared to canvas? I will say I think that the Russian Bear Market tents look good for what the are, but compared to a GP small, how will it hold up over 20-30 years? I'd guess not as well.

@@gorbaggoescamping1329 oh, they won’t hold up well at all. I have my eyes on a snow trekker. 9 week wait. So, I opted for one of these lightweight ones. Yes, their light, but not sturdy. They don’t breath well and can’t handle embers. Canvas is the way to go for sure. If these new designs get more people out though, I’m all for it.
