Most Jamaicans have some white ancestry as well. Eg. My mother's grandfather is a Scottish doctor who was working in Jamaica in the late 19th Century. Not sure about my father's lineage but people do not mistake him to be from Africa though dark skinned. I plan to do a 23andme test. The Arawak Indians died out because they poisoned their children rather than bring them up as slaves under Spanish rule. So it wasn't only European diseases why they died out. There are a few surviving Arawak Indians living in Venezuela and Guyana. Guyana is 10% native South American. The island of Dominica has a few surviving indigenous Carib Indians.

@Lunchclubb Taino is an Arawak subgroup. Arawak is a collective term for the tribes living across the Caribbean and north coast of South America in those days. You will see those names used interchangeably in articles about the history of Jamaica.

Thank you sir but I think you’ve missed out a few important points about my heritage. As a Jamaican born abroad (England) even I know that the Arawak Indians were there before Columbus and were not the indentured workers you spoke of. Also having travelled to Ghana to see where our ancestors were taken from I was told on authority that many of the Akan tribe were of the Royal line.So yes we are ROYAL. 👑👸🏾🤴🏿 Lastly you’ve missed out our Sierra Leoneans cousins as even to this day we have a very close connection. For example their pidgin English is as close to Jamaican patois that you can get. My grandparents that were born before the turn of the 20th century never once spoke of Nigerians so even if they were Nigerians taken to Jamaica they represent a very small proportion of the country in my opinion. But I thank you for your effort but it requires a lot more work. 🇯🇲🇬🇭🇸🇱

@@marriedtoagambian7366That may be true of today’s standards but let’s not forget Ghana had a much bigger land mass than it is today, which incorporated parts of Nigeria. So let’s not get it twisted if we talking about 16th or 17th century then we’re talking about Ghana not modern day Nigeria
