Man, this brings back memories. I grew up catching crappie on Watts Bar. Old Rockwood boy here banished to the wilds of RVA. Can't wait to get back someday.

Nice explaination. I saw some guys talking about using 12 - 16ft rods and I had no idea why. Now that I have a Panoptix, it makes sense.

I heard a couple reviews of the rod breaking when setting the hook. Do you feel like the rod is pretty strong, and what is the biggest size fish you think it can handle?

I'm up north and I just picked up two 10' poles. now I use long poles for walleye trolling but we had an amazing crappie bite this winter wonderful eats. Now I can't wait for the ice to melt I'm tired of icefishing. Thanks for sharing 👍

Wow just seeing this out of the box kzbin.infoUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

I use 8ft rods to crappie fish year round on Sam Rayburn and Toledo bend but in the case of livescope to be able to jig fish and be away from boat I can say a long pole is handy but not necessary for anything else but works

I was at the lake yesterday and I couldn't catch a thing . I know it is the fall / winter transition. They are wandering and scattered. I tried the creek on the lake and had no luck. This lake has a lot of underwater stumps. So, I knew long line trolling would be hang up city. The wind got really bad so I got off of the water. There was a guy at the ramp that had tore them up. I had seen him on the water with long poles. He had livescope. He was basically long poling crappie he saw on his livescope . I guess if you don't have luvescope you could catch them with spider rigging long poles as well. I am going to go back and try that soon

Always big crappie in deep water,giants spawn on hard trees in 20 ft suspended hi.Very common on Southern lakes.I would probably be trolling covering more water don't worry about water level

Subbed! Thank you for all the effort, believe me I know how hard editing video can be. Time consuming and tedious, especially when you can be fishing instead. I have always been curious about the long panfish rods. I don't own one, but now I am thinking hard about my 5'6" ultralight poles vs these big fellas. I already own 3 Piscifun reels, very durable and no complaints after 3 years of use, (not many people are familiar with the brand) so your recommendation holds some wt. with me because of that. I will most likely go with ACC when I do buy one, my go to brand from Park Rapids Wi. does not make a rod to this length so maybe change is good...? Thanks brother, for all the great viddy's! They are especially valid to me as I live just south of you where a couple of BIG rivers meet. Great info

Speaking of breaking rods. I have the same boat cleats as your boat. I can't count the number of times my rod has been leaned against the side then slid under the rod cleat. If you just barely lift the butt it snaps instantly. Have you broke any rods like that in your boat?
@FloppingCrappie

@FloppingCrappie
@FloppingCrappie 2 жыл бұрын
For the 6.6, 8 and 10 foot rods, I typically use 1000 size reels. The7.6 i use as a multi species setup, so I pair that with a 2000 size reel. Specifically the ViperX reels by piscifun.com . I have an 18% off code: Flopping18
