In this video, I discuss my Suhr Pro series M8 and tell you what it is I love so much about this guitar. This particular pro series modern was made around 2010, I bought her around 2012. Since then, she's been gigged up and down the UK, has taught thousands of lessons and has been a genuinely superb instrument. Looking to take your playing to the next level? visit

No Suhr Guitars, are not good . . . they are: Phenomenal. I purchased one, and Never played my Vintage Fender Stratocaster again (sold it after 9 months of not-being touched). The Suhr has the most Incredible tuning-stability and return-to-pitch (with the Gotoh 510 trem system). Locking tuners. Stainless steel frets. I also have Lollar Dirty Blondes in mine. My Tone-search ended right-there. oNe LovE from NYC

They are $3500 now. I built two of my own with Warmoth parts and bought Tone Specific pickups and all the parts individually. By the time I factor in all the time to paint and finish it, all the parts, the cost to have someone level and crown the frets, etc. it was cheaper than $3500 but not by that much. But also, I bought a $149 Sawtooth a while back and that thing sounds and plays great, one of the best-sounding guitars I've owned in 30 years though it is clearly lower-quality. Go figure.

I tried a few Suhrs out yesterday, as well as PRS, MusicMan, Tom Anderson etc. I own several Gibson LPs, and a few teles and some others. PRs were nice sound, but I didn't like the neck profile on any I tried. Suhr felt nice, but weren't the sound I was looking for. Also I didn't get the sense they were worth the price. It just didn't feel like a $5k(Canadian)guitar. I went with a MusicMan Mariposa Family reserve model, in TransBlack. It feels and sounds unbelievable, and looks incredible, albeit not everyone's cup of tea, and overpriced to some people as well. My point is, had I not played any first, I would have ordered a PRS. If it's a high end guitar that fits your style, and is what you want, then it's up to you if the price is worth it. So I guess I pretty much agree with everything said in this video(wrote this as it was playing).

Anthony, I guess, because I am not a Pro, I kind of like all my guitars. I have 4 Gibsons, 2 Fenders, 4 Core PRSs and a Suhr Modern Plus. Every time I play one of them, I have nothing really negative to say about any of them apart from if they stay in tune, etc. The Suhr Modern Plus is a bolt on neck. I only have two other bolt ons, my Tele and my Strat. Also, if memory serves me it has 24 frets, which is great, but I also have 1 other 24 fret guitar, a PRS Custom 24-08. I am fortunate that I can play and experience a lot of what is out there. I love my Suhr, but all my other mostly higher end guitars suit me just fine also. Sorry though, I don't own any Ibanezes. Maybe that's next. Very nice video. I have just subscribed.

Hey Jeffrey. Thanks for the great comment. Firstly, you do not need to be a pro to love your guitars. A lot of people say that to me and I don’t get it lol. I loved mine way before I turned pro. The most Fun I had with guitar was when I was learning the most. I still learn daily and am constantly trying to move forward. It never ends. It’s all just a case of what you enjoy playing and doing with your instruments. Also, I put my opinion out there, because I’m running a growing channel and a guitar education business, but that doesn’t mean that what I say about an instrument is a fact, it’s an opinion. I like guitars that are easy to play, have 24 frets and have humbuckers, it doesn’t mean that guitars that don’t have those things are no good, it just means I don’t like them lol. Nobody should give a damn what anybody else thinks about the guitars they play, you should only play what is right for you. Do you think steve Vai cares if you don’t like the Jem? I can assure you he doesn’t lol. Thanks so much for watching, your great comment and subscribing, it is appreciated. Anthony.

Agree with everything said. I own three Suhrs: a standard HSS, a modern satin, and a Pete Thorn signature. Are they well built, high quality guitars? Yes, absolutely. Do I like them? Yes. Are they my favorite? No, not really. Are they worth the money? That's subjective, but I'd say no. Would I ever sell them? Possibly, the only problem is that with the price increases over the years I would never be able to afford them again, which is why I haven't let them go...

@@alexjackson8841 It's different for everybody, but at a certain price point the extra money doesn't translate into a better playing experience (the whole "point of dimensioning returns" thing). Is my Pete Thorn signature better than a Charvel pro mod? Yes. Is it $3000 better? I don't think so. Better than my PRS CE24 that I bought new for half the price? No, I actually prefer the PRS. Do I like Suhrs? You bet! But to my personal tastes I think there are better guitars and better values that cost less.

I own 3 and have owned 2 others. They are nothing short of amazing. Every one of them built is custom shop level. I haven't puchased a Fender since. I just wish they would make more Aura models. John as a CEO/President is on the shop floor daily working on guitars. He is VERY hands on. It's also easy to reach him if need be. He genuinely cares and is passionate about the product they put out. Every guitar has the neck fitted to the body and every guitar goes through multiple QC checks before it leaves the building. Suhr and PRS are the top echelon for guitars these days. While Fender is focused on profits, Suhr and PRS are moving the industry forward with innovations.

Just like Kiesel guitars. They have a boutique air about them and their fanboys swear they are the greatest thing they've ever played. I've got an old BC Rich Mockingbird that's Spalted Maple with a Les Paul stop tail piece. It's absolutely flawless. Everyone that's ever played it was blown away, it's just the shape is a bit radical. It plays like a hand built custom shop guitar. It stays in tune as well as a Floyd equipped guitar.

This review is slightly naive. The truth is Suhr guitars are outstanding. The correct answer is that when a guitarist has tried a large amount of guitars they will find an amazing guitar in Suhr, Gibson, Fender, Epiphone, Anderson, Ibanez and through private Luthiers. I’ve heard other inexperienced guitar players say they don’t like a particular make, but that may be because they never tried a good example.

I think everyone knows they are good guitars, the real question is are they worth the extremely expensive price tag? Of course that question is also relative to individual taste, opinion, bank account balance and spending habits. Everyone can't afford a 3000 to 5000 dollar guitar, but almost everyone can afford a budget priced guitar and upgrade it here and there until it is awesome as well! Then you have the thousands of dollars you would have spent on a brand name to invest in other areas and people in your life that really matter. While guitars are great and I enjoy playing them, at the end of my life, I want the people I love to be there for me. A room full of guitars won't do me any good in the next life. The best guitar ive ever played was a guitar mybdads friend made for me, hes a luthier who runs a small custom guitar shop in Galveston, TX. It plays and sounds better than any PRS, Gibson, ESP Ive ever played. And I got it for free too 😊😊

This is kind of a waste of video, storage, electricity and band width. You configure and customize suhrs, you wait the 1-2 years, and you have the guitar of your dreams. just about every single spec is customizable. If you cant afford, and dont want to wait, then a suhr is not for you, its that simple. However, if you have done your research, you WILL get the best guitar you ever played.... why? because you designed it that way.

Couldn’t agree more. I have no idea why people watch my gear videos and not my lessons….the lessons help….me chatting about guitars doesn’t. However…looking at the view counts, it would seem that thousands of people don’t agree. So regrettably my friend…I’ll have to continue to make gear videos, because it’s what people want to watch. The numbers don’t lie

@@anthonygeorgeguitar Agree 100% - used to love my vintage Strat . . . then The Best arrived. They are superior in-every-way to Fender. My Suhr is going to the Grave with me.

If you like the Ibanez thin neck and strat body............charvel is the way to go Suhrs are not worth the cash

It depends on you as a person, it’s diminishing returns after a point but nothing wrong with a high end expensive instrument if you can afford it. I have a charvel and I do absolutely love it although it’s not without its tiny problems. You can get super low action and dead perfect intonation on Suhrs because the fretwork and build quality is just so perfect to the micrometer. For me I think if it costs $3-4k but is exceptional build quality and will be my forever guitar then it’s definitely worth it

These are great guitars and if you have a problem Suhr won't pretend a bowed neck is your fault. My Suhr has the most phenomenal neck grain that is so tight, straight and uniform it defies logic. Can recommend. 👍

I have owned everything from fender custom shopsa to Tom Andersons, Mayones, Music mans and many more. However, Suhr to me really is the best. I own 6 of them now and each of them have their own character and still maintain incredible versatility. Not really a Jack of all trades and master of none situation. They just do everything really really well.
