Ever since my first Android phone (HTC Eris) back in 2009, I had never cracked any phone screen. 2yrs ago I was looking for a cheap replacement for my still working Sams Note 4, that I use as an everyday media player. I already had a Sams S20, but I always loved having a separate Media-Player phone and wanted one with FM radio. So I bought a new 256gb Moto G Styloplus whatever. My case wasn't going to arrive till the next day, so after a couple hours of setting it up I decided to put it in my sock drawer to keep it safe. As I'm walking into the bedroom, I slightly bumped the door and the phone shot out of my hand, bounced off a shirt that was on the hard-wood floor and hit the corner of my dresser right in the middle of the screen and shattered it!! It was only 2hrs old!! Sure it was only $300 but still!! The Sams Note 4 is still going strong!! 🤣

What I didn't know was that a screw came loose inside the phone, and when I was in class, I put my phone down a bit too had onto the desk. The screw ended up penetrating the battery and the phone started smoking, and then caught fire. Luckily, this happened in a science lab, so the teacher evacuated the room and then put the fire out. My phone breaking story goes thusly: I was riding back to my dorm at college on my electric skateboard when I hit a crack in the pavement, lose my balance, and my phone goes flying out of my hand. Obliterated the screen protector, and left a permanent ding on the corner of the phone where the screen protector and the case both did not cover. I still haven't gotten it repaired because it reminds me to not use my phone while skating. The phone otherwise works the same.

The phone fell flat on the screen on a tiled floor and the screen got 10+ cracks all around the surface. Surprisingly, the touchscreen was 100% functional. And, since it was very difficult to find a reputed repair shop in my town, i simply put on a tempered glass and continued using the phone for 2 more years! Too much traffic to just ran onto the street and so I had to witness a car rolling over it before I got the chance to check if it survived the drop. I never ever broke a phone until February this year when I bought a Samsung S23 Ultra when it first came out. I only had it for a few days and dropped it from literally 20cm above ground on a rough concrete floor and I had the same thing as you Zack, the screen curve fell right on a raised bit. I was utterly shocked when I picked it up as I didn't expect it break being such a soft fall from under a foot high but it was such an unlucky angle that it shuttered the screen and the case was useless in this instance.

I started getting cases for phones in 2016, when I switched from a Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman (man, I liked the shape of it and the sapphire screen that cracked once but still worked fine) to a Xiaomi redmi 3. I think I bought the first case separately and it arrived a month later, but before it did I was kinda anxious... And had a tiny scratch already. Also, started using flip cases about the same time. On the next phone I also was always using a glass screen protector alongside a case and switched between the flip case and clear silicone ones. On my latest phone I was using the one that came together with it, but I don't like how it's a boring warm gray case (it is a realme collab with dragon ball z, and I like the back design a lot) and how the camera bump is mot a good colour combination with it (a bright orange). I'd use a clear case but haven't gotten around to ordering one and my current emerald green book-style flip case is doing well. One thing that's different is how the phone has a screen protector out-of-the-box, so, I didn't get a glass one, the film on the screen is enough rn)

I dropped a phone (with a case) face down while using my grocery list app. I think it landed on a little pebble or a rock, because the case had a lip but still the screen shattered.

Looks, basically. Those curved screens look nice, so people don't think of the disadvantages and get one. The same applies to piano black: beautiful, but it tends to scratch really easily.

I have always been using a front screen protector and back cover. Dropped it a couple of times, plus the screen protector did save me from time to time. One randumb day while searching for an item in the closet, i opened the closet door a little bit too much and it slammed my left pocket containing my keys and the phone. Boom! The speaker grill area instantly shattering upon contact with the keys. Its funny and ironic at the same time that the keys had to hit that very area where there was no protection.

Would love to see you test cases. I'm especially interested in the Rockform cases. I see KZbinrs throwing their phones at walls and the ground with "no damage".

I've never broken a phone nor had a case. My last phone was a Samsung galaxy S7. No issues. But it was stolen from my motel room. I was blessed to win a cellphone from Zack! And I now use a case! But I leave my phone at home alot. So thank you JerryRigEverything!!!!

Tom Scott and Marques Brownlee as the guests in JerryRig's video? That's epic. Any one of them would be enough, but both of them in the same video - EPIC!

Excluding phones that bricked from being left unplugged for too long, worst I've done is cracked a corner.

Once dropped my phone from a very low height onto a wooden floor. Sadly can't support Mark's story as the oled screen was visually intact but didn't turn on anymore... Fun video Zack! :)

in all of my years using phones i had a nokia 3310, then a nokia flip phone, then i moved to my mom's LG Optimus Hub E510, then bought Samsung Galaxy J1, then tried nous ns5003(was bad), then went with xiaomi mi max3, then tried out iphone 12(loved it), and then traded it for an iphone 13 and stuck with it since❤. never cracked the back or front of all my phones ever. had dropped 5-6 times each but they resulted in a couple of scratches. (13 is scratchless still).i always use a case and a screen protector as you always said.❤ love your channel

I have broken a phone in the past five years. This story is from a couple years back but I had just gotten a red iPhone 11 and me and my cousins were going to the park and I decided “let me skateboard down this stupidly large hill” and I got flung off the skateboard and shattered the main camera lens. I’m glad that’s all that happened to the phone. All the glass held up but it was a pain in the butt to find someone who would actually be willing to fix it. Apple told me that they would have to replace the whole frame which totaled out the phone. Luckily my local repair shop said they could fix the lens. shortly after that, I got a new phone through a trade-in at T-Mobile. I do use a phone case but at that time I didn’t have my protective case because it was so new. That just goes to show a good case like the dbrand grip case or mous ( currently rocking the mous) can actually be worth your money.

Always use a case. I watch these KZbin tech videos of people stating that they don't use a case, and I am in awe. Because my shh... would definitely be broken.

what an appropriate time for this video to get recommended to me. Why yes, I have indeed broken a phone, the one I've been using for the past 5 years, a week ago. Now this wasn't the first time I have dropped it onto a hard surface, nor getting it wet, however I think it just had enough. I had just woken up and went to the bathroom with my phone. When I went to flush, I put the phone under my chin to hold, since I had no pants on me, and my brain just forgot it was there and I lifted my chin and the phone plopped right into the water. The first few days it was mostly fine, just a small blob of light near the charging port, that started to disappear as the phone got dryer, but then eventually, maybe a rouge water droplet hit a circuit or something, I got the white lines of death.

Of course the local repair shop would let him fix his own phone there. The shopkeeper saw a bar code behind Zack's head.

I'm clumsy AF so I have broken 3 phones in my life. The first one was a Motorola Atrix from 2011. I owned a school bus that had broken down and I had to limp it to a mechanic. Since I was so stressed about the bus being broken down, I wasn't paying attention to anything else and left my phone on the floor next to the bus door. When we took off, the phone flew out the door and a car behind me ran it over. I managed to retrieve it but it was completely obliterated. The second phone I broke was a Samsung Galaxy S4. I jumped into a lake with it in my pocket. I put it in rice and it survived for a couple of days then shut off forever. And the last phone I broke was very similar to your story. It was a Google Pixel 6 Pro. I dropped it off my desk last year and the curved glass landed on the desk's leg, shattering the entire screen despite it being in a Dbrand case. I was living in South Korea at the time so there few options for fixing it so I ended up having to shell out $275 USD to get the screen replaced. And the repair guy didn't even do a good job because there is still a gap between the screen and the chasis.

so I'm a teenager who got his first phone (iphone se 2020) in 2021. I took off my case and dropped it and broke some of the back in the first month of owning it. The phone was fine there was just a small ding on the back. I continued using the phone until one day in April 2022, I took my case off and the back was shattered. I don't know how this happened but I blame the cheap case. The one was still fine so I used it until April 2023 where I bought a google pixel 7 on sale for $350. To avoid any issues I bought a really expensive case but still don't have a screen protector because it interferes with the fingerprint reader. So no I haven't killed a phone but I have damaged one. And yes I use a case. Great video btw

I use a case. Broke my S22 Ultra a few weeks ago after changing my morning routine (but not my alarms). My alarm went off while I was in the shower and the phone was sitting on the counter, I tried to swipe the alarm off but swiped the whole phone off the counter in my soaking wet, drowsy not-so-morning person state..... phone hit the edge of the bath tub and cracked the curved part. I dont think it would have broken if the screen were flat. Samsung warranty service was very hard to get hold of and took 1.5 weeks to finally get back to me with a price for a repair, in which time I had already sent the phone for a refurbished genuine screen, most unauthorized repair shops have off brand screens for that phone in NZ, the authorized ones charge as much as the phone is worth. Samsung was the cheapest but with how slow they were to reply to me, I imagine I wouldn't have my phone back by now. I have broken and repaired my S9 rear glass about 5 times even though it lives in a case and the battery twice (spicy pillows) My oppo reno 4 5g screen fell off, didnt bother fixing it My note 5 slid out of my pocket and landed display first on a tiny stone on the floor.
