I hate this narrative among nuggets fans that Denver won’t be able to trade with anybody which is just not true. A lot of these teams like the nets hawks and a couple other teams are looking to offload their players to rebuild. Meaning they know they probably won’t get the better half of the deal but they are willing to scarifice it for their future. Now while Denver might not have a lot of picks they do have a lot of upside young players like pwat Julian stratwher even cb if need be. All of these guys would be appealing to a team that’s rebuilding now these guys don’t have large contracts so Denver would need to package them with Mpj or zeke. The point is though, even though Denver may not have a lot of wiggle room, they still can make a trade with some teams that are rebuilding. The Nuggets have no choice but to sit pat since they can't trade Jamal. Calvin Booth backed this team into a corner and there's nothing they can do. If you could trade Jamal, and acquire Jimmy Butler that might be a viable trade, at least for the short term. But, since they can't trade Jamal that move makes ZERO sense. And they couldn't afford it because both teams would be going into the second apron so the deal couldn't happen even if both teams wanted it. And the Heat wouldn't trade Butler for MPJ either. And he apparently wants to go to LA, Dallas or Golden State, not Denver. Denver needs a backup point guard. And Butler doesn't help the spacing issues at all. The front office's job is to surround Nikola with players who can maximize his qualities (many) and minimize his problems (rim protection and perimeter defense only). With Jokić being the first point center in history, I think it's important to have a backup point guard who can lead the team when Nikola is on the bench. An ideal player for that position could have been the current Chris Paul. You also need a backup center with a decent NBA level to play about 15 minutes on average. A player like Luka Garza, Al Horford, Clint Capela, Jonas Valančiūnas or Isaiah Hartenstein. A good player who can generate points in ISO and, if possible, is not a black hole on defense. For example, Bogdan Bogdanović, Norman Powell or Cam Thomas. A mid-level all-star guard, if possible with a decent defense. Jalen Green, Tyrese Maxey or De'Aaron Fox. And the rest of the roster can all be 3+D. Athletic players who can defend the perimeter, contest shots, rebound and score threes when they are free. Alex Caruso, Luguentz Dort, Dillon Brooks, Dyson Daniels, etc. At very cheap, the Nuggets could have a team like: De'Aaron Fox, Christian Braun, Alex Caruso, Aaron Gordon, Nikola Jokić, Chris Paul, Bogdan Bogdanović, Dyson Daniels, Peyton Watson, Luka Garza.

The problem with these hypothetical trades is that it's not just one guy whom they can integrate fairly quickly without losing a step. All these involve replacing three guys and having to spend another twenty games (the way they've been going so far) to work everything out. The least destructive move is Zach Levine, hoping that he doesn't hurt himself again. Jimmy Buttler doesn't make any sense; he's more or less putting up Jamal Murray numbers lately.

Hi guys, not sure why is the trade with Broklyn Nets overlooked where we send MPJ, Zeke and Strawther + 1st round pick for Cam Johnson, Cam Thomas and Dorian Finney-Smith. It would be great trade. Swapping for both offensive and defensive upgrades. Both Cams would bring shooting that we are lacking, while Finney-Smith would be defensive upgrade. I know giving up 1st round pick is a lot but Cam Thomas is young player with great potential, and would also be good for future along with Pwat and C Braun. And instead of MPJ (pains to lose him tbh) we get two scorers/shooters. While Finney-Smith boosts defense that is a huge plus, he could come off the bench. All 3 are upgrades while Brooklyn gets to tank for Cooper and also can swap out MPJ in future if needed. By playing Zeke they could easily lose games, Strawther is a plus and potential great prospect for them for future that we would give up... Not sure but this seems as the only trade up there that should be seriously considered and that actually brings great value for both starters and bench. Massive swing within the season 🎉

I don't think Nets is looking to take on salary though. They're a rebuilding team looking to accumulate as much draft capital as possible. DFS and Cam do sound nice though. Getting another supposed playoff riser that is always injured, older, expensive, and clearly getting worse is a *TERRIBLE* idea. Enough of this Jimmy Butler nonsense. They can look around all they want midseason, but if there isn't anything interesting, it truly is time to put an end to this season and go for it in the offseason. Yes it wastes yet more of Jokic' prime, but would you rather waste this season and get a Championship-calibre team for the next few seasons, or make suboptimal and risky trades midseason which can cripple you for even longer.

They can't afford to lose MPJ, as meh as he can be sometimes. What the Nuggets need is a better bench, they need more confident, experienced, and reliable players. Murray is inconsistent, MPJ is good but he is also not as consistent as they need or not as productive. KCP was a reliable shooter and defender who was always available and always in good form. They got rid of him. The hole is left where he was. They are left with the bench full of kids + some players never used on the court. At this point, they can't afford to give up any of their more experienced players, since they need more experience and reliability.

Chalk up another for a hard pass on Jimmy Buckets. Fun to watch at times but I would never see him fitting into the Nuggets culture. We have the talent, just need everyone focused and playing together. Even if we traded Porter, were not winning a championship this year. Unless Malone changes. We should wait till the end of the season then Murray could be traded and several others. So were going to trade Porter for a 35 year old Butler. So getting him will just miraculously make us the favorites. C'mon. The MPJ trade for Bogdanovic and Hunter is starting to grow on me more. Initially, I'm more against the trade because I don't think each of them are good enough to compensate as role players. However, I failed to realize the effect of playing with Jokic and what that does to each player and the spacing around them. You don't need a star level player like Jimmy Butler next to Jokic. You only need competent role players around Jokic who have great understanding of the game and can shoot. Preferably, those players are above average defenders too. Bogdanovic is a tricky one. Despite being 6'6" with a 6'11" wingspan, defensively I don't know how good is he compared to MPJ. I don't think Bogdanovic would ever be a defensive liability though. As for De'Andre Hunter, I think he can be a "Andrew Wiggins" approximate type of player for the Nuggets. His defense is stellar, but his offensive game is underrated. I would consider him a 2 way player. The versatility he provides would immensely valuable on the Nuggets. Just think about it. The defense with Braun, Hunter, and AG in the starting lineup would be insane!!! Instead of trading for Onyeka Okongwu, I would trade for for Larry Nance Jr. though. Nance is on an expiring contract and is cheaper than Okongwu. Fit wise, I think Nance can be an "Aaron Gordon" lite for the Nuggets doing a bit of everything on the floor with his playmaking, defense, and vertical athleticism. He can easily play the backup 4 or 5. As long as Bogdanovic and Hunter can stay healthy, I actually like this trade including Larry Lance the most more than the Nets trade with DFS and Cameron Johnson.

@@AbdullahFarhanLife The salaries don't match, so no. Hunter is making $21 mill this year and Okongwu is making $14 mill this year. That's why unfortunately the only way to get Hunter is through trading a bigger contract in MPJ. MPJ's contract is big enough to do a 1 for 2. Bogdanovic is the other player I would target because in a way he plays like MPJ. Both are sharpshooters. If we're only willing to trade Zeke + Saric, then the only player we can trade for is Okongwu. So Zeke, Saric, and a 1st round pick for Okongwu is possible. Personally, I'm not a fan of Okongwu's contract. His contract is not small and he's under contract until the 2027-28 season. I actually don't mind moving Zeke, Pickett, and a 1st for Larry Nance Jr. especially if he plans to resign with the Nuggets. I think he's a much easier player to trade for.

Not gonna win it all this year. Makes no sense to trade MPJ when he has shown real growth in his game, beyond what I thought was likely. Best bet is to hang on, hope Jamal rights his ship and DaRon proves to be at or near the high end of his potential next year. If positions 6 through 10 are the primary problem, it makes no sense to blow up the starting team. Panic and frustration lead to long term problems.

I'm thinking the same cause there's not much we can do right now that makes sense. Season seems lost. So why not play youngsters and try to push them to their limit see how that goes. Tell Joker to chill out a bit 😂. Put Murray into counselling and shape. In the off season draw the line. If it didn't pan out, ditch Jamal and everyone else (excluding AG, Russ, prolly CB) including Booth. If MPJ goes down this path that he's on and gets even better and consistent - keep him.
