Marrutt is an established company in the UK, they are not scammers. Very unlikely they will claim this if it doesn't work!

Well.....I agree with you there. BUT.....it was just clarified to me that there may have been a "FINE" print caveat that I always suspected was the case. You need to install the chipeless firmware on the P800 to allow this to work. Well..... Gee! Of course!

I think they don’t claim the USA p800 can be refilled after the first run. They are a great company and staff, I’ve dealt with them for nearly 20 years with no problems from their old CIS systems to the 250ml per cartridge system you can get for the p800. And yes in the UK you can keep refilling the cartridges it will warn you that you are using non genuine ink every time you fire the printer up.

Are there laws in Europe that stop the lockouts or why are EU printers not affected? Does this apply to most printers or just this model?

Yes, the right to have aftermarket cartridges, enforced by EU legislation for the right to repair and also forcing Apple to use the USB-C standard to prevent E-waste (a myriad of different cables and adapters to charge devices). HP has been fined several times already for forcing firmware upgrades that made the use of aftermarket carts impossible: they had to release new firmware upgrade to undo this.

Maybe this will help explain their claim. There's a disclaimer on the Marrutt USA website that says: US AND CANADA USERS PLEASE NOTE: THE P800 REFILL CARTRIDGES REQUIRE A FIRWARE UPGRADE TO USE THE BULK INK IN UNITED STATES AND CANADA. This firmware upgrade forces the ink levels to read 100% at all times,

In that case: save the money and modify your original cartridges to become refillable and use chipless method.

Yep. You have to scroll almost to the bottom of the page before you see the disclaimer. I'd call that just a tad misleading.

On marrutt's website it clearly states " This system does not work with P900 printers in the USA or Canada." So it seems whoever told you this is wrong.

I was NOT the P900 they were talking about. They were referring to the P800!
