These moms aren't doing this for what's best for their kids.... they are doing what makes THEM feel better. They aren't helping those young adults whatsoever. We can't follow our kids around everywhere, and our kids have to learn how to handle things without us right there. If these mothers don't let up, they will mess around and limit these kids and their abilities and not even realize it

I'm 21 year girl.... When I was young, my mom always came to pick me up from school which made me happy.... But when I am in college, my mom still goes with me wait for me to finish my classes and then right after I have to return home.... I don't have that freedom to have fun with friends... And also, she always tells me I must have to tell her every single details of my life (till now)... I used to do that till I was 18(My mentality grew as I must have to tell her as this is my only job).... But right after that, I realized I'm not living my life... I feel like controlling doll. And nowadays, my mom even if I wanna try to talk to her, she without listening always make the conversations bitter and I'm losing interest to talk to her. She always tells me I'll be bad at math and English (I believed till 18 and I suffered so much in my academic believing in her words).... Then she also said, I can't make any friends because I have problems in me.... But in reality, everybody in my college fond of me... Some of them think I'm brilliant and smart and again some think I'm good, cute and kind person... Whenever I tell mom what other persons think of me she mock me and tells I lie and act outside. (I'm honestly sick of this toxic mother - daughter relationship)... Recently, I boy from my college had a crush on me(for the 1st time)... I asked him why he liked me he said because of my personality(this is also a clear sign I'm not defective). However, my mom always teat me according to my grades... When it goes high, she treats me like princess and when the opposite, you know.... Since I'm an Asian, I can't avoid my situation and I always have to be careful and self defense mode (I didn't inform about the boy to her because you can realize the consequences). So I'm waiting when this torture gonna end... Lastly I wanna say, my mom is some sort of person who wants me to stay away from boys now and right after my graduation, she will say, I want a grandchildren which is absolutely hilarious.

Continue getting g good grades go to uni/ find a good job save don’t tell her how much you make and save the rest find a place and move out
@TheWilDOn31 Жыл бұрын
You have to get your independence. As someone else said here, save money, don't tell her anything, and move out. Don't feel guilty about it. It's for the best for both of you. Don't try to explain much to her because she will not understand, and you will only get disappointed and sucked into her drama. When the time comes to move out, use short sentences to just inform her what you will do, in a kind but firm way. "I am moving out, it's the best solution" or "it's what I want" for example, and that's it, don't go into details. Meet people but be careful and smart, take care of yourself, respect yourself in all relationships with people always. Your mother is probably trying to protect you from the craziness in the world, because there are bad people out there, but she is paranoid, and seems to be a bitter person, and that has a negative impact on you. If you can afford it, maybe see a therapist once in a while. A good therapist can help you tremendously to navigate this crazy life, read some good books about this stuff, meditate - to heal yourself from the negative impact she has had on you and to be able to make good decisions on your own. Best of luck, young lady.

First mother I agree with her picking her daughter up from down the street. I knew someone who was kidnapped, raped and killed for the same exact thing. She would park 2 blocks from her home because parking in front of the house was limited and she walked home and never made it. They found her body the following day 30 miles from her home. Found out it was random and the guy lived in one of the houses she would walk by every night at midnight.

Today in South Africa one is wise to even pick up one's Son from that short distance. If possible in a Group, weaponed or at least with a ferocious dog growling at attackers. People do not go out after dark : 17.00 hours if they value their lives.

If you raised them right, you shouldn't be afraid to let them fly! I would drive across the country for my daughter if she called me in the middle of the night and she needed me to. But if the police ever call me saying she got arrested dealing drugs I'm gonna leave her in jail. Hope she get out by Thanksgiving, but she done messed up. Don't let her out a day too soon. She has a good head on her shoulders and is going to learn from her mistakes.

A mother who is protective of her child in a "World Of Today" knows why. You brought this child into the world, and you ought to take care of your child. When this child becomes an adult is still your child. If anything is wrong with this child as an adult, you the mother who still bears the pain of this child. I'm listening from the Caribbean.
