@ranchosdelnorte2 ай бұрын
If they didn't pay Porter, someone else definitely would have. Even though they lost him to injury for a year again, it's a gamble that payed off because he contributed to them winning the championship and continues to add to his game every year. Now that he can trust his body he's become another slasher that can finish at the rim and as well as fight for rebounds. Last year he even played the most games than anyone on the team, and all it took was allowing him to get fully healthy without any pressure, this is the same thing we need to allow for Jamal.

@ yeah that’s true. I just wish we could’ve afforded to keep people like KCP and Bruce Brown
@ranchosdelnorte2 ай бұрын
@@Rogue_Centurion What have those two even done on their new teams? Plus KCP was awful in the playoffs last year averaging only 8pts while not being able to stop anyone. Those two are making like 22mil each, meanwhile Braun, Watson and Strawther combined are making a tad under 8mil. Not only is that a laughably way better value, but it allows the team to keep it's 4 best and essential players. You have to have faith in the office that has allowed this team to constantly finish a top 3 seed.

@@ranchosdelnorte I guess I’m still reminiscing about the championship squad that was so dominant.
@ranchosdelnorte2 ай бұрын
@@Rogue_Centurion To be fair, most teams were pretty injured that year, even in the regular season it's rare to have such a big lead at 1 seed with only 53 wins. They won more games last year, were the only team with a winning record against Boston, nearly swept Lakers again, and barely lost to Minnesota who was specifically build to beat them, and they needed to blow their load to do it which is why they had no gas left against Dallas. And that was with Murray not even being healthy and most of the team playing awful, yet they were one blown 4th quarter from being back at the WCF and likely Finals too. This team is still a top contender and we need to stop listening to all the doubters.

Beal still is an awful contract for his team: 15 pts and 4 assists with an average deffense for U$56 million a years and a no trade clause. It would be ok for a 30M without that clause. Btw, he is with a -0.1 plus/minus a game playing 35 minutes game for a 8-1 team... how? When we talk about our future, the 3 guys always named as our future are Nemby, Math, and Jarace. He's great on defense, he hustles more than anyone except just for TJ, whom he's learning a lot from. When we signed that contract up until now, we keep praising Kevin Pritchard for getting him on such a cheap deal. He's had a slow start to this season, sure, but so has just about everyone on the team. Having him out with injury has been arguably our biggest hit so far (maybe IJax is a bigger loss cause we cant rebound for shit). He also started the season as our starting SG which just doesn't work. He's a natural PG and having him share the floor with Hali just isn't smart. At least not having Nemby running the offense instead of Hali. When he was coming off the bench, he was one of our most beloved player. What you saw in the playoffs last year is something he's been capable of his entire time with us.

The NBA has a salary cap problem. The soft cap is ruining teams. Tobias Harris got over paid in Philly because if the 76ers let him walk, they were still going to be up against the soft cap and only have an exception to replace him with. That's why Kris Middleton got over paid. It's why Jamaal Murray got over paid. Guys know that they can hold a team hostage because of the soft cap. You can keep the luxary tax, and the apron. If the soft cap didn't exist, Denver would have resigned KCP, let Murray walk, and found a replacement for him that would be willing to sign a more reasonable contract. Either that or Murray would have understood that nobody else was going to pay him that level of money and signed a reasonable deal with the Nuggets. Were going to see a lot of mediocre teams over the years. Guys like Jokic and Giannis will eventually get traded.

I mean look at the MLB AAV. 50 M a year is usually reserved for an superstar, MVP caliber player. An good everyday positional player or pitcher get around 20-30 m per year, and that is. But they also have no salary cap. The problem in the NBA is a good starter now cost way more and the team can't do anything to stop it, so some 3-and-D guy can easily get side way after a few bad seasons. The main problem is exactly that in Denver. I think Jamal is fine because he is their second option, but MPJ and Aaron Gordon cost way too much. That way their roster contruction is too restrictive. Also the same problem can be applied to Milwaukee and go on. The only way to get out of this is to have multiple home growth talents, like the Cavs and the Thunder this season.

Interesting to see how these teams deal with these mid level players thinking they deserve max money in the coming years with this new cba.

If he stays healthy he is good value! I follow the Nuggets over last couple of seasons and Jamal is a guy you can rely on (if not injured)!!!

As a pacer fan, I fear you have the wrong one of our guards. Tyrese Haliburton might become one of the worst contracts in the NBA if he doesn’t step up.

These contracts are unreal for the average person to grasp. We are talking generational money here. JUST MEANS ONE THING --- THE PRICE OF TICKETS ARE WAY TO HIGH.

Jamal has had poor starts to his seasons consistently over the past years. Wish Nuggets could lock him in a bubble every offseason so that he’s working out or properly resting/dieting/conditioning instead of trying to play himself into shape and costing his team games at the beginning of the season. I’ve not seen him be in the type of shape that he was in during the bubble ever again, even in the championship season.

Nuggets can just offer Jamal Murray $37m per year and I am quite sure no team would want to offer more than the Nuggets.

Well deserved. He gave enough to win Denver a win a chip. I’ll never forget that shot over AD. In terms of getting renewed after this contracts, that’s a different story. Joel Embid has a worst contract imo

Jamal is the perfect number two. Thats his role. He is Khris Middleton, CJ McCollum, Klay Thompson, he plays his role, and gets paid a lot because of it.

Most players are overpaid. If I was an owner. I would talk to all the players and tell them, give financial flexibility to get more good players to win rings. The ring is most important.

Its a smaller contract, but Zeke Nnaji is another example of the Nuggets incompetence. Bro is getting 8 million dollars a year and is worse than a lot of g leaguers

How much do you expect 3&D wings to costs? Role players are too valuable to be cheap. These guys get a bag for a reason. Look at bruce brown, KCP, Dillon Brooks, hell even Grayson Allen. Every role player that can shoto and defender moderately well is gonna cost you a lot of money.

Murray's contract is a no brainer, yes he's not an allstar but he's stepping up in the crucial games so why wouldn't you give that contract to him?? Yeah maybe he's declining now but when he got it he is one of the best playoff performer

Im a big time nuggets fan, and I can honestly say, the moment I found out they gave him that contract I knew we were f***ed. Jamal is just too cocky since 2023.. like WAAAY too cocky, he, same as many fans dont realize that KCP and AG and other role players did their IMPORTANT parts to winning 2023, it wasnt just Jokic and Murray, Jokic even said it many times in interview.. TBH they should have either sign and trade or let him go. his body isnt made for him to be a star, and maybe we wanted to lead his own team just to fail big time, or who knows maybe he would have become much better, but he needs to be traded. I get sticking with their guys, other players this season are playing good for nuggets, even MPJ is playing quite good. Braun and AG are epic, they legit play around Jokic, and I respect that plus both play good D. Westbrook is doing good. Strawther and Watson are VERY solid. team is looking good, except for Jamal. Feels like he wants to lead his own team, he wants to be THE STAR of the team, and is playing like it, very forcefull, without flow that he had pre 2023/24 season... just bad energy around the whole team. and he is legit one of the main reasons they didnt go far last year.

To be fair to Murray he plays in the west. If he was in the east he would have been an 6-7 time all star. Also, how good is Lebron without a superstar? I get the argument but thats how the NBA is now. I think all of these players are overpaid. you should make a video about how overpaid the average nba player is with such low ratings.
