The worst trend rn is probably the lazy nostalgia bait sampling in songs like “Lovin on Me”.

Especially cause interpolation can actually be cool if it adds to the song musically or ties into the theme in an interesting way. I feel like interpolation is being ruined for a lot of people by a wave of lazy, cashgrab examples of it

There is a reason why musicians and other artists are happy to share their influences. Trends stem from a shared collection of people that happen to have been influenced by the same or similar ideas. It will continue along forever.

Some artists are trying to make songs that will become trends, which makes it seem forced and more like a marketing stunt than a trend started by legitimate fans of a good piece of media. Its like what happened with Saw Patrol, who were trying to copy Barbenheimer, which was coincidental.

I don’t think trends themselves ruin music and art as a whole but going against trends will put you on a path towards expressing yourself

Streamers are ruining music cause they can up and make a bullshit song and it automatically gets 6 digit views as if they have talent. The whole system is ruining music because you could spend a year on an album and a bullshit steamer would get more views and payout by recording his face for 2 minutes talking about what he ate that night.
