I think it also comes down to attention. High IQ men are always working on things and women will usually assume a high IQ man won't give them attention. Even if the man is rich and sucessful in his field, he will usually try to take it to the next level. Just look at someone like Bill Gates, he can retire but his still working on making computer software even though he stepped down from being the CEO of Microsoft.

I had brought this up in a thread about how education level does matter in a relationship because if you're way more knowledgeable on things than she is it can put a strain on your relationship. I believe that women take a lot things into consideration. A man's intelligence is just part of the long list they have. Men get judge on everything including how they look. Which is ok because men bring a lot to the table. This is a why I don't have problem with men choosing women base on how they look. If a woman is young and beautiful she has every right to choose a man based on what she prefers and needs.

I have to agree. it is the same type of contradiction I have ran into when I talk to women about that idea that they know you will have a sexual encounter with them within a few seconds of meeting you. many women agree with this but at the same time will not admit that if this is true then they are very shallow as well, because you can't gleam any other information from such a short encounter about a man's character and intelligence. The only thing they will know about him is what he looks like.

A woman likes a knowledgeable man. A man who has the intel and information to 1. Bring resources 2. Improve quality of life in some way 3. Command leadership and assert his influence or alpha male energy. For example, men like Brother Polight (before he was outed recently as a scam artist) is not stereotypically attractive by modern standards. But this man has three attractive wives and many women who want to get with him because when he lectures about the Black condition in America he becomes magnetized with a sexual attractiveness that is undeniable. I am a woman. I know what I'm talking about. The same goes for Dr. Umar Johnson. He is also not stereotypically attractive and would normally be classified as a overweight in physique and average in the face. But when he lectures powerfully on the Black condition in America and building a school for black boys, he can talk most women out of their panties. It is the knowledge that a man has to use to assert himself powerfully in life and build something with that knowledge that we mean by the allure of an intelligent man. @Jervis Horton - I actually don't understand "the Gerald Levert effect" at all and have never found that guy even accidentally appealing but then he is waaaay before my time. The Umar thing I understand because, again, he is going against the grain, advocating agitating the status quo and doing something (acting) on injustice. He has a lot of information to share that many people have never heard of as strategies to save their boys from the school to prison pipeline and a lifetime of drug use as a result of the conspiracy to use ADHD drugs to over medicate children and hook them on mind altering substances at young ages. He is charismatic, and talks a whole lot of agitating. Now, I recently woke up to the fact that Umar is likely a scam artist as well and that school will likely never be built but, from a purely observational perspective, I understand effect on women. It is that masculine energy that asserts itself to take charge, build and improve that women are hard wired to submit to. It is very intoxicating for a woman to be around.

A topic close to my heart. My take on the SOCIAL value of Black intellect is this. Most of us men viewed as intelligent are just men that maintained (a healthy) curiosity of understanding ourselves and the world around us, usually since childhood and prior to social life. This is why there is usually a child-like honesty in intelligent men. Seeking to learn is a youthful quality. But this curiosity that feeds intelligence is different than being crafty, which is a particular application of intellect. Women like crafty men because it has recognizable social and material benefits. So no, "intelligence" is not a value to us descendants of slaves, from the female perspective especially. But, it is an attractive quality if its a peripheral quality... but doesn't translate well if it the 1st word that comes to mind. My experience is, if this quality appears to be a dominant attribute (above looks, physique, income, social status), it's a sexual liability. This is why knowledge and understanding are not valued by Black mainstream culture. Now here is the kicker, intelligence is the greatest fear the enemy has about BM. It's not money, physical strength, sexual prowess, or great character, that puts fear in the enemy. It's knowledge, wisdom and understanding because they KNOW for sure that no one can be controlled by an inferior intelligence. Women were promoted to be our handlers, and the power dynamics among us has been - she is the brains and we are the brawn. So on the surface, intelligence doesn't make or break the deal, but on a collective unconscious level, it makes women uncomfortable... even if they don't know why. Intelligence is the ultimate power because its the prerequisite for taking control of Self and the environment. Black male/female dynamics are based on power. Intelligence in men offers the LEAST relative power. Intelligent men can and always will, acquire resources to meet their demands... even against direct opposition. But for the majority of Black women, more important than being secured materially, and physically, and sexually, is she "must" have power over the man, and it's why high intellect in Black men is a turn-off from a mating perspective.
