Someone commented using words that I have blocked and told me GW didn’t have wooden teeth. Then they told me I wasn’t qualified to teach because I was so dumb. Well I wasn’t actually teaching my children in this video and it was a more off-the-cuff example. Even if I did teach my kids GW had wooden teeth- there are parents out here teaching their kids that men can be women. I’m certainly not as dumb as that. 👀 Well, jokes on them, I learned that wooden teeth bit in public school 😉 But if the entire point you’ve taken from this video is that GW didn’t have wooden teeth then I’m afraid you’ve missed the point. Have a blessed day!

Love this!!! Thank you!!! I feel like I’m failing my kids. How you homeschool is how I’ve always wanted my kids to learn. Mine are older but severely delayed in their learning. So I have 8th and 9th graders on maybe 1st and 2nd grade level. It’s hard to not let those on the outside hit you with their stones.

This was awesome. It felt like you were sitting across from me just speaking to my heart, it brought tears to my eyes. Just last week i sat and cried feeling overwhelmed and inadequate. My husband literally said to me "stop trying to be like the homeschool moms on youtube." He knows it is unrealistic expectations and sometimes not a full representation of real life. I appreciate your advice here. This was so sweet. Thank you for sharing!

My kids are finishing public school this month and I’ll be pulling them out and homeschooling. I have an Aunt that works in the school system and she is against homeschooling. She just says that kids that come back to public school are always behind. I just told her that I feel like God has put it on my heart to homeschool them. Now I’m worried I can’t do it and that I will be failing my children. 😢 I will have a 6th grader, 3rd grader, kindergarten. I know the Lord will be with me and we will get it done. And I don’t plan on sending my kids back to public school. I’m excited but still a lot nervous. Thank you for this video. I watch some moms that have like 1000 things going. Scary! 😂

Your aunt is actually incorrect! Look up the statistics. Then go on to look up how many homeschoolers go to college vs public school kids. Homeschooling Better educates and proves to be more fruitful according to literally every record. Hang on- let me see if I can find an awesome video for you to watch Be right back!

I agree with so much of this as a homeschool mom of 5 kiddos 7 yrs old and younger. But I will say this… I have found so much peace in systems and order. I found my biggest problem when scrolling Instagram was envy. I was essentially sinning wishing my life looked and was like theirs. I’ve learned a few things after having so many kiddos, moving 8 times in 8 years, my husband job jumping 5 times and never making quite enough - we’re always below poverty level - because he hasn’t fully figured himself out yet (which is fine ❤ we’re all learning together). #1 it doesn’t have to be beautiful … it just has to be functional. Instagram shows some very beautiful and completely dysfunctional spaces (especially for children). #2 Don’t COMMIT your soul to any system. What works in one space at one house may not work in another. What works in one season of life may not work in another. The mamas in China and Africa and in the tundras all have different homes… that WORK FOR THEIR SPACE. A hut in Africa wasn’t made for the tundras of the snow… We live in this weird 21st century where our homes are so much more cookie-cutter instead of dependent on the land and natural resources and unique the the environment in which we live. I honestly believe we were meant to be creative in our spaces, in our homes, and MAKE STUFF WORK for what we need wherever we live. #3 the problem isn’t in finding another system. The problem, like you said, is simply: self discipline. Amen! I have made so many schedules only to find that I still hate waking up early and hated the dishes and the laundry and still felt mad I had to do all this work… I realized my attitude was the problem, not the work or the schedule. Once I worked on my positivity - the work was easier to do, not EASY! Easier. Sometimes joyful. But mostly just bearable 😂 #3b the second problem is humility to admit when an aspect of your life isn’t working and seek ways to improve it… (more on this in my after thought) #4. I am mother duck. If you notice - the mother duck walks confidently in front of her children and they follow in a row. I’ve noticed when I don’t lead from the front with confidence, I am stressed out trying to direct the day from behind. Children aren’t born ready to lead a family. My children don’t direct the day… I do. And they follow. I do it FOR them… (I’m teaching them so much and leading them through it) so they can learn to live life, but I am directing much of it. A system can either help or be a distraction to that… if it isn’t helping, it isn’t worth it. #5. (And I’m still working on this.) let the children help and be involved as much as possible. They can do so much more than we think they can and helping builds so much confidence for them and helps them have a place and feel needed. All the systems in the world can teach you how to keep the space clean and tidy - very few will teach you how to let the child explore, make messes, and learn. Some mess is okay - especially when there is learning happening! Let your kids break a few eggs wrong. Let them sweep it up and miss a bunch of stuff. Let them put the clothes away crazy. Let them. Instagram needs more of that - the actual learning process. My last note is that I’m not sure I would be so judgmental of mothers who create a system, use it for a while only to find it doesn’t work and try something else. Though I totally understand what you’re saying in terms of being sold the “silver bullet of all systems” from these “influencers”. It’s always changing… BECAUSE that’s what systems do! We can’t commit to the previous system because at some point it will fail. That’s the world we live in… there is no “system” that works perfectly 100% of the time. It takes humility to say “okay, that worked for a while but it’s not working now and that’s okay.” We should expect to see changes and growth and new ideas and improvement. The laundry just has to get done… NOBODY said HOW that needed to happen or on what timetable. Our ancestors hardly owned any clothes and hardly washed their clothes and when they did - they used a bucket of water and a scrubber and soap. We have washing machines and HUNDREDS of pieces of clothing and spend so much time washing and folding… sometimes I think it might be easier to just… go back! Probably not 😂 but sometimes I think that.
