Very sadly though, in my experience, once you indicate your not interested in just being a booty call, but are open to catching up for coffee or whatever, he's not interested. Says he is, but it never happens. :( In my case it hurt more because it was someone I was quite close to as a platonic friend years ago, and then when we met up by co-incidence he just saw a booty call.

As a woman I guess I'm just lucky enough that sex early on hasn't affected dating...? Not even when sex happened on the first date. Or, without a date LOL. And my shortest relationship was 6 months, the longest 6 years. My problem seems to be the opposite. I don't want to date someone, and just want a friend with benefits, and they get upset that I don't budge when I've been up front about that. I've also been lucky enough to have open relationships. I have a question: I was a nanny for two years and this past school year I noticed one of the P.E. teachers flirting with me. In October I had walked up to the school rather than drive the kids in since I had some cookies to hand out. I gave the girl two two gift the teachers that help control the traffic flow in the morning. G, as we'll call him, was sure to give me this excited wave and thank you from afar. Then a few weeks later at a school event I caught him checking me out, but wasn't completely sure if it was me. There was this time when he happened to be doing something outside of the gym and I was walking by as the preschool class had gotten out early and I could feel that he was going to come up to me, but I am so effing shy that I pretended not to noticed and kept walking with the boy who was telling me a story. I looked back once we were far (the school is a huge campus) and I could see him looking at me. The rest of the year there was flirting here and there and finally on May 23rd, the last day of school, I got a chance to talk to him. There is definite chemistry between us and he gives me this look that makes me know he finds me attractive. I should also note and in between our conversation lots of parents, students and coworkers came to speak to him and give him thank you gifts, but always came back to talk. Months before I had given him my business card as I'm a freelance recipe writer and have my own little baking company. Anyway, as we said our goodbyes I was trying to build up the courage to invite him to call me (the first time in my life I'd even tried to say such a thing.. I'm shy... stupidly so), but in that moment the boy needed to be told off for being ridiculous I ended up just asking if he still had my card which he responded with something like "i do. I absolutely still have it." I then replied, "well, call if you ever want something..." or something around those lines. He then said he absolutely will. It's now July 25... no call. I know he was going to coach at a camp in another state and he does have a teenage son. With all the flirting, all the chemistry. He was single. I am single. I need the universe or you to tell me to let go. Or that maybe is there hope?

First of all, you're free to meet anyone as long as you haven't mutually agreed with someone to have an exclusive relationship. Just because you're attracted to somebody is not an excuse not to meet other people. Second of all, take more initiative, I don't know if you have his number or not but I'd contact him once more and ask him out. Do it yourself, guys can be shy too. Don't get hung up on people, it leads to more disappointment than playing numbers game and going out with every other person you find attractive.

I of course know I can go off and meet other people, but that's what is so hard. I'm back to the country where I'm from and I simply do not fit in. Never have and frankly never will. I moved back after I was laid off. My monthly student loan payment was higher than my rent (a huge mistake on the part of Sallie Mae that has since been remedied) which made finding a job incredibly hard. In NY Im not experienced enough and yet for the few jobs available in PR my experience, in the words of a Human Resource employee "is too sophisticated." I am not looking for a relationship to fix anything. I don't know need anyone, but I would like someone. I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to be loved or at least liked.

This reply may seem a bit too late but I think I am same as that girl. Usually in my experience guys who are younger are most likely to be not mature enough though I am not saying everyone is. I know there are exceptions out there. But considering the young age of a guy, this guy hasn't experience the things they need to experience in life. Has not had the maturity in a relationship as well therefore a girl wouldn't expect that commiting and marriage is not part of a younger guy's goal until he is in his late 30s or early 40s because only in those age assuming they have done everything they want in life then theyd be ready to settle down. Again not saying everyone is like this. This is just my own perception and see this girl as myself. Being consistent and how you do things in life will show her though that you are not immature as she thought you would be.
