I think some people mistake brighter as being more detailed
@bluebellbeatnik49453 ай бұрын
the problem with this as that you change speakers at different parts of the song so of course chemtrails sounds better on the micca at that point. the music is cinematic at that point. you need to play the exact same section of music with each speaker.

Thank you, E Project for giving the Micca RB42's a comparison demo. First I have to say since I own them, they don't sound nearly as balanced as they do in my set-up. Because of their substantial bass output, their placement is tricky and critical to achieve the smoothness they are capable of. In this demo their bass sounds a bit hard and overbearing. That is something that also smooths out considerably with run in time. In any case I prefer them to the brighter, comparitively bass lacking Polk S10's, even in this demo. I do feel they aren't 100% level matched to the Polks here, and the left channel speaker sounds a bit lower than the right as well. Sorry for knit-picking, it's just I know how good they can sound. They also do reflect the charictor of the amp driving them more than most speakers, low efficiency and all. When you get it all right they are tremendous over achievers for $150 Thanks again. E Project

E Project, if you choose to do any more comparisons with the MB42's can you try them wiith the NAD 316BEE. I think it will work well with them, at least at demo volumes Or even better, the Marantz or Audiolab. I'd love to hear them against the D310 or 320's. Thanks.

If you will be listening mostly to Classical Music or any kind of New Age Music, the Polks are the way to go.....Otherwise, the Micca's Bass makes up for the lack of clear detail that you will find in the Polks due to the overboosted bass muddling some of it and is perfect for Rock, Pop, R&B, Disco, Jazz, Country, etc. The Polk's base sounds cheap, really cheap, which means you need a subwoofer and you may have a great combo then. Because getting that kind of bass in such a small woofer and enclosure means that you have, that you must, sacrifice something.....In this size range is one or the other. Then there are the Jamo S801 and Elac BS41 which sound more like the Miccas.

@@F-MK96 ha ha 2 years later! anyway... I am going to say the same thing. The polk are great as surround speakers, very clear mids, but definitely benefit from having a subwoofer. I am currently using Polk ES10s as both front and surround. A definite upgrade from my 25yo sony speakers.

I believe these two pairs are made for different types of music. I've seen impressive bass output from much smaller cabinets. From speaker DIYer's point of view, big bass in small speakers is not hard to achieve, but everything has a price to pay. On light bass tracks, the Micca sounds really thin.

@@34332 for music with bass, the difference is from 0 to 1 when switched from Polk to Micca. For music with little or no bass, or doesn't reply much on bass like acoustic guitars and some instrumental music, the Polk will sound better because of flatter mid range.

AXR is brighter sounding amp, So the micca must carry some bass, and it sounds a miss match with the Polk, however the Polk carries so much more detail in mids and Hugh's . Some speakers need a sub and some don't . Personally I think the JBL A130 wipes the floor with both ..... Just my take ..

Yeah, but the JBL A130 has a 5.25-inch woofer, then is not a fair comparison with these two 4-inch speakers.

I was wondering if space isint the problem which one would you pick between Jbl Stage A130 and micca rb42
@williammiebach17983 жыл бұрын
I can tell you the RB42 has even deeper bass than the Stage A130 and definately the stage A120. It has a warmer, more full bodied sound with a nicer, smoother treble charictor, but a bit less airy maybe, and with no hightened "sizzle" to it. It is idealy suited to smaller acoustic spaces, and requires a clean, strong amplifier to sound best. 80 to 100 watts is optimal. You may get away with 60 watts, but you wont get them up to their output potential with it. The JBL's are more efficient, and the A130 is probably better suited for a larger room.

@@PriyvratTiwari My pleasure .Sorry I hadn't seen your question sooner. Yeah, if you have a decent size room, a smaller tower speaker is one way to go. They're pretty efficient too, so you can drive them pretty loud with a basic 50 watts or so. Glad you're enjoying them.

If you like no bass then go for the es10s. If you like bass and are not going with a sub, then the miccas are better for you. @@F-MK96 the polk es10 is the newest and in my opinion the best choice. The biggest difference is the crossover. The oldest model s10 and the previous s10e are sounding too blurry, they handle too much base which they cant produce, surely not on high volumes. So the ES10 starts at a higher lower frequency, so it the soundstage stays the same even at higher volumes.
