This might be very late. I’m a scratch golfer recently graduated from college. Your videos help me work on my game while being able to save my money up right now instead of spending it all on lessons. I don’t have this issues with my irons but as a very tall person I have this issue with my woods, specifically my driver. Do you have any videos similar to this but regarding driver?

5:25 with ball position for driver I’m definitely struggling with slice, THIS was amazing! Instead of putting ball inside lead foot, and putting it on my shoulder/ toe, I was hitting them straighter than ever, and with power Can you please dissect this method in a seperate video? It’s definitely worthy and would help a lot of us slicers Thanks Adam!!!

Been watching your videos for about a month now and I can see a significant difference in my ball striking even without going to the range. The shaft lean bit was something my caddy reinforced yesterday while on the course. I'd normally hit only 22% of GIRs, but I hit 50% yesterday. Usually a reliable putter, I didn't do too well with that club, yet broke 90. May your tribe increase man.

Adam, great content! Really helpful for those trying to improve. One question: in a video you mention keeping the funny bone of your right arm pointing at the ball in the backswing. I tried it and it was like a revelation! Is this a feel you use only in backswing or can you use it through to the downswing too? I tried that and contact was A1 but was overdrawing it - which could well have been another adjustment I need to make. Thanks again from Australia,
@PorzakGolf
@PorzakGolf 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can absolutely use that album a fire back down towards the golf ball and to keep it from going left just make sure you keep it rotating when that help up gets in front of your right hip! We would also have to check the grip and the club face in your hand if some overdraws were the problem

After watching this, I started practicing my swing using only my shoulder/chest turn and not trying to move my arms independently on my back swing. Seemed to be a positive thing. But when I played, I hit a lot of shots fat. I bump my hip an inch forward as you instruct in other lessons. Any suggestions?

Off the topic of this video, but should I be using the same grip for irons and driver? My irons I use a slightly strong grip and hit the ball great, but when I use the slight stronger grip with my driver, I just hit huge pulls.

The grip should stay the same throughout the bag! Unless you’re getting into some specialty short game shots, and obviously putting is a very different grip!

Would you explain why you advocate a variable ball position? It's much easier to be consistent with a constant ball position. If you are making a consistent setup, and you're making the same swinging motions (grooving one swing, not 13 different swings) then you'd bottom out in the same position with each swing. The fact that a longer shaft puts the ball further away from you from a feet to ball to target line should have no bearing on where the clubhead bottoms out relative to the right and left side of the body. Vary it and your alignment, takeaway, point of contact on the face, balance all change and sold contact and consistency get harder to produce. The best ball strikers in history advocated using constant ball positions including names like: Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Nick Price, Annika Sorenstam, Rory Mcilroy, and many others who I'm simply forgetting at the time of this post. The only big name golfer I can remember advocating a variable ball position was Ernie Els, and contrary to his advice if you looked at pictures of his ball position when he played well it was under his left ear regardless of what club he was hitting. Ball position aside lots of good information in the video.
@dmkfactor1721
@dmkfactor1721 Жыл бұрын
The reason why differing ball positions is the length of shafts. As a shaft lengthens then the arc of your swing will change along with it. If you keep the same ball position then you’d need clubs that all have the same shaft length. Without moving the ball you’ll end up with lots of miss hits, fats and thins, due to the shaft length.
@dmkfactor1721
@dmkfactor1721 Жыл бұрын
Change ball position also helps you shape shots. You’re comparing people who play golf and practice for a living. The average golfer, and the majority of pros today move the ball around in their stance to shape shots. It’s much easier for a non-elite player, say a 12 handicapper to learn to hit a fade by moving the ball up and slightly opening the face vs changing swing planes. They just don’t practice enough! Same said about hitting draws moving the ball back half an inch or ball will help promote a more in to out swing producing a draw. That one you don’t even have to manipulate your club face. That’s why todays Pros tend to be drawers vs the power fade! This was really evident in Tiger and Phil! Those are 2 guys famous for moving ball positions to shape shots!
@systemoptimizer3542
@systemoptimizer3542 Жыл бұрын
@@dmkfactor1721 Incorrect. Shaft length does not change where you bottom out from left foot to right foot. A longer shaft just puts the ball away from the body in the heel to toe dimension. If you go varying the amount of lateral shift/slide during your swing then you will bottom out in different spots, but if you shift is consistent regardless of club (ex: 1" hip shift starting back, and 5" shift in transition) you will consistently bottom out in the same spot regardless of longer or shorter shaft.

@dmkfactor1721
@dmkfactor1721 Жыл бұрын
@@systemoptimizer3542 Also argue that with the top instructor’s in the world, they all teach that now! Your discounting the fact that majority of golfer struggle to square the club face at impact, and to aid in the with shaft length ball position must be changed! Also as I stated and you CLEARLY didn’t read is that it’s much easier to work the ball by changing positions!
