I have found if I focus on a super smooth transition from backswing to down swing with super smooth tempo and only apply speed and power to the club head at the very bottom of my swing all of these body positions will be accomplished more naturally. Sometimes trying to hit all these body positions in the downswing feels impossible because there is so little time to actually control things. It’s wild how focusing on a smoother tempo and when to put speed on the club can result in drastically improved body/club positions when viewed in slow motion. I have tried focusing on hitting the positions instead of thinking about the tempo and timing of when to put speed into the club and that lead to some unnatural mechanical swings that do not hold up under pressure. All I can say is try to hit a golf ball with a ton of speed but you are not allowed to start swinging hard until you feel like you are half way through your down swing. It’s almost impossible for my hips to move forward when I do this.

I never take a divot. I have trouble getting my hands in the slot and and shallowing the club -- and my hips were always square at contact. This video explains why. Now...doing this drill and working on keeping the right hip back allows the space for the hands to slot -- and the left hip to open sooner and by golly, I'm now taking divots. Magic. All 10,000 videos out there telling golfers how to stop early extension, should simply provide a link to this video. Thanks.

Like the way you teach sequencing and weight transfer with these sensations such as heel to heel. It puzzled me so long now I got a clear picture and the next step for me is to ingrain it into the swing.

Another great video Adam, keep it up! I have found that if I shorten my swing a tad I manage to keep my arms in front of my body and allows me to clear my hips much better, rather than my arms getting stuck behind me with my hips extending early and forward...

You have just stumbled onto one of the keys in the golf swing, and in particular what you can do in the backswing to make your impact better! What you are describing is a more connected backswing!

I’ve taken numerous lessons from various pros. Honestly, I’ve found it rare to “understand” ideas the coach is trying to convey. You break it down to where I can understand it. I wish you were closer. I’d pay you a visit. I’m so frustrated with my game right now. Do you offer virtual lessons?

Hi Adam. Been watching your videos for a while now, best instructional coach I've seen. Wish you were in the UK, would love to have lessons with you! Quick question, at setup where you mentioned the hip bump, you referred to weight being on inside of trail foot and flat on the lead foot...by flat did you mean the weight spreads across the whole width of the foot?

i really appreciate this video; i have played for one year and took lessons six months; i slow mo'd my swings; i see my driver pushes to the right were due to terrible EE which i noticed by taking selfie videos on my camera. I am on a mission to stop my EE. I really think it has led to lumbar pain which I noticed a lot after hitting 50 driver or woods in a row. Will dig into your video, but i notice when i use a stack onto lead foot swing, no back pain at all. I figured I was minimizing lumbar twist, but I also think Stack and tilt style or dropping wt to frong foot quickly reduces lumbar twisting ; not sure on that point. Will try these drills and lyk.

When I keep my hips back the club head smashes into the ground way before the ball because I'm so steep should I manually shallow the club or is there something wrong with the setup/backswing?

Hi Adam, what do you mean by "flat of the left" at [3:09]? Is that the pressure weighted in the mid-foot area on the lead side? (versus the heel and toe area)
@PorzakGolf
@PorzakGolf 2 жыл бұрын
It won’t go directly to the lead heel from the trail foot, It will work more to the flat or even slightly to the front of the foot what is a Swing concludes it will definitely finish in the lead heel!

Awesome video. As somebody who is used to early extending and throwing wrist angles to get to the ball, will it be common to fat a lot of shots when working on this? Will re-training the release come from just staying in posture longer?

You just have to keep your hands moving past your left leg and towards the target, that will continue to move the low point forward

So I'm a 6'8 golfer...15hcp. when I work on this hip turn and keeping butt against the stick, I bottom out behind the ball. A lot. My weight is transitioning to my left side but I can't understand why I hit it so fat. Anyone with an idea? Maybe I throw hands early but I have worked checkpoints 1 and 2 on the backswing. Thanks all.

How lucky for the game of golf that Adam teaches and does not play professionally. This drill to keep the trail buttocks against chair/wall/object for as long as possible on downswing is huge and rarely taught. Most amateurs will be shocked to have this feeling for the first time.
