Lists are a sanity saver. I use my phone's notes, reminders, & calendar for so many things. Trip planning is on a whole other level for me & create an Excel spreadsheet for every little thing. Drives my family insane at times, but they also appreciate knowing what is going on and what to expect.

Cooper pulls my heartstrings, LOL! So much innocent trust is a beautiful thing to see. He knows you will watch over him well as you walk with him through the streets of this gorgeous city…whether you are lazy OR restful OR in a rush…

I define relaxing as something you have to get done. That’s my attempt to trick myself into not being busy all the time.

That’s how I approach my days in retirement - jobs in the morning then chill and do what I want to in the afternoon. Works for me. If I just want to loll about all afternoon, I just do that. 👍

I have always done a pre-trip checklist as well. It ensures that I don't forget to pack or do something. It's so lovely to see Cooper having so much fun running around the dog park and playing with his friends.

I always get stressed before a big trip. It's a weird kind of stress, it's a feeling of sadness, like I'm sad to break out of my everyday routine. It does not stop until I'm actually on the trip and then I'm ok. Making lists or being completely prepared/packed does nothing to prevent it.

At least you know it'll subside once you're there 🥂

I’ve been a big list maker for years. Started when I was a nurse in the NICU and had 3 babies to care for. I’d make a list for each one-with the check boxes-so I wouldn’t miss a thing. I make lists now, and actually have set activities for certain days. With my immunotherapy, I am giving myself grace and trying to not beat myself up mentally when I don’t get out of bed until 11 or really don’t get off the sofa. I will say, getting outside at least once a day makes such a difference on my mental health. Safe travels to wherever you are off to!

Glad you are taking some time to rest. It has been a video a day for the last few weeks (2?). I don't want to see you burn out. A stitch in time saves nine kinda thing. You are worth taking time on/for yourself.

My mom was a 3rd grade teacher for many years. She used to tell her students, “Do your best then take a rest.” I kept thinking of that as you were talking. Rest is critical. I’ve followed the work of The Nap Ministry for a few years. I haven’t yet read the book, but I get the gist off of social media posts. It’s good stuff.

Flying and traveling is always stress inducing for me so planning is key. Also stress inducing is when you walk away from your camera. Have you ever lost it or had someone walk off with it? Cooper looks like he's adapted pretty well to city life. Do you ever not feel comfortable with him walking onto the train particularly when it's crowded?

Yes a list, I think writing a list has saved my life lol. When I shared with others a list keeps you organized in your life . Some will say its a to do list and actually writing your list on paper makes you take ownership of that list. To travel, Yes I get a little anxiety when I am about to travel not because of the traveling but all the safely measures in place at the airport. But all in all being prepare helps when the unexpected happens, bon voyage, Merci

I'm pretty sure you're not the only one... My Paris packing list is 4 pages and it was so therapeutic building it. It also ensures that I bring these items back when I leave... You nailed it by conflating laziness with rest. The anxiety caused but not doing what you should be doing is addressed for me by looking at my every day, every week, every month and every year list that I use from Brian Tracy's No excuses. Eat that Frog?!
