@32:28 I'm 100% in agreement with that. I have had single purpose scent detection herders and trained a lot of them. Frankly they make little sense to me. I would just have a floppy ear (Lab/pointer) if I'm not doing bite work. On average way easier to manage and still do quality work.

So I have a hunting dog, a pointer, and contrary to your point on not focusing so much on exercise vs work, physical conditioning for him is absolutely a big component in our weekly regimen both pre-season and during hunting season. The work itself requires an athlete (a typical day of work has him running 10-15 miles and we are averaging 3-4, sometimes more days per week of hunting) and conditioning his cardio improves his scenting abilities (particularly in early season warm temperatures) and prevents injury. Just wanted to add some nuance here! Good video though full of info!

Hello Andy! Do you use the 'stay' comand as in 'wait'? Like 'sit! stay! or 'down! stay' ? Some trainers recomand as sit means sit, keep the position, no further comands. Thank you.

Andy- I play hide and seek with my old dog and I believe it makes being with me very valuable. I have him sit and wait while I go hide in the woods, then I call him. At first I made it easy- he's on hard mode now and loves it. He gets a jackpot of his dinner when he finds me and we repeat a couple times. Do you think this is work?

Hey Andy, I have a 8 month old Belgian malinois and it’s hard to leave him alone in the house when I’m at work. He destroys things, I’ve tried so many things like taking him for a long run before work but I still come home to a mess. Any tips to make him a good indoor dog?

He needs to be crate trained. Malinois are not genetically designed for this lifestyle. This is why they are not pet dogs 🙏🏼

Separation anxiety is an unhealthy attachment that’s not based on any training. It will cause your dog to think they own you. Holding value means you inspire your dog to work and they see you as the boss 👍🏻

I know you always say that labs are the best family dogs and easy to train and mistakes are not serious. Well here in Germany I've met 4 labs and all of them were reactive and pulling the owners across the street
