@@-thirteen Huh... I'm closer to that number than I expected. But, yes - many moving parts are made of TRADITIONAL sintering. For instance, many gears in power tools are sintered... even though sources will try to convince you that dimensional accuracy of this process is unreliable. The traditional method is to press metal powder into a form and then "bake" it until it fuses. As far as LASER sintering (as they are talking about here), Adam Savage (of Mythbusters fame) made an Iron Man style face plate of sintered titanium (which I believe was laser sintered in a 3d printer) It withstood gun fire (not sure the size though... sorry). So, yes, these sintered parts can not only be functional - but also very strong.

@@secondarycontainment4727thanks for that. I had gotten some cheap metal parts that were made of powdered metal and could not withstand moderate bending forces. Is this typical of today's sintering?

Would be nice to have access to rapid metal manufacturing and forgo tooling in small numbers
