What Enzo said was ignorant and stupid. And yes, some level of racism in it. Like questioning somebody’s nationality based on the skin colour. However- as stupid as the chant was- it did not make one race better or worse than another. It did not say “whites are better”. If anything- it implied that France’s success in football is thanks to immigrants particularly of African ancestry. It implied ‘between the lines’ that French football is African football. I'm sorry, but you are analizing the song without considering the context, as if they have written that song themselves. You have to understand the football passion to argentinians to understand that this song, like many others, is created spontaneously by ordinary people, gaining popularity and sung in the heat of the moment. IT does not come from the heart whatsoever. What trully comes from the heart is the joyfull sentiment of having won the cup for Argentina. They simply want to sing as a way to express their happiness. They don't mind the lyrics, or France. It's just another song. And, let's be honest, most football chants carry agressive tones (not just in Argentina). I'm not condoning that, but it's a reality we have to acknowledge. Let's refrain from perceiving racism where it doesn't exist.

As for Argentina, the chants were frankly way less offensive than what I expected. Argentines players themselves are from European heritage (mostly Italians). But because it’s a new world nation similar to USA, and other Western Hemisphere countries, it’s not weird to have all these origins, but they see it weird for European countries to have all of that. Again, there were no racial slurs and if I was a French player I will say I’m proud of their heritage.
