I watched it live and I was stunned when Pavlik started little by little taking over. Even then I was expecting Taylor to knock him out...But Pavlik was like a Terminator P.S. That night I noticed for the first time that the legendary Larry Merchant perhaps needed to retire...He was rambling when the knock out sequence was happening and Jim Lampley did step in like the pro he always was and still is...hell I'm rambling on myself 😅😅

Pavlik’s power was deceptive. His punches didn’t seem as hard as they were until you saw the end result. Obviously he hit like a freight train.

one of the must watch figthers before.. the era of boxers today are so boring to watch..
@BrownBomber92181Ай бұрын
Pavliks's prime was incredibly short. He literally peaked in this fight, he never looked dominat ever again. He could've been an all time great and he was already building a big fan base. But unfortunately after he won this fight, his partying, drinking and wild behavior got the best of him and he blew every opportunity he had after this.

Jermain Taylor was a great fighter just took to mamy shots and it affected his chin going forward in his career otherwise he woulda won this fight

The better story with this fight was Hopkins. Lost twice to Taylor but took Pavlik to school.
@esze8807Ай бұрын
Even better story was the racist Hopkins stating he would never let a “white boy” beat him, but then proceeded to get SOUNDLY beaten by Calzaghe and 2 other white MEN. The last white MAN knocked racist Hopkins right through the ropes. Love it when black racists get their comeuppance.

I hate when the refs have ego trips and try to make the fighters touch gloves. If they don’t wanna touch gloves, don’t touch gloves. It’s a fight. We’re not here to watch you Mr. Ref

Kelly's career cut short by alcoholism. He could have been so much more.
@courthogan3140Ай бұрын
Nope - went up against BHop and got schooled. Wasn’t even an alcoholic then. Pavlik just was an average fighter. Alcohol is just an excuse he uses to mask his lack of talent.
