People used to have integrity and honor even when in a rage. When I was a kid I had a neighbor who was a sort of muscular 15 year old black girl. She hated this girl in my apartments who I also didn't like but who was close friends with my sister. Anyway one day I came out of my house and the 15 year old is beating the crap out of the girl we didn't like who was 13, I was 12. I saw how hard she was slamming this girls head into the concrete and I immediately flew up the stairs and told her to stop, she said no and kept at her. I maneuvered myself in between them and sat on top of the girl I don't like. The 15 year old girl was still pissed and she kept yelling at me to get out of the way. I kept saying, "No, you're going to kill her." Not once did she hurt me. She swung around me a couple times but didn't lay a finger on me. It was mutual respect. She was still breathing out of her nose when I stood up, pulled the blonde girl up and told her to run. That was 3 kids having respect even in a fight. I was preventing someone I didn't even like from being severely hurt and the 15 year old girl, even in a pure rage had enough respect not to harm someone she liked and wasn't a threat to her. People don't have that nowadays. Nowadays if you intervene you're risking your life.

While walking my dog today in my apartment complex I passed by a neighbor's doorway (while on the sidewalk). She walked up to me aggressively and said "Don't you dare walk your dog in front of my house". I was pretty shocked since I wasn't even on her property, just on the apartment complex sidewalk completely minding my own business and walking my dog. Instead of taking offense or escalating the situation or (correctly) defending my right to walk my dog around my own apartment complex, I simply said "Oh, OK I'll try to avoid this area" and walked away. Someone who is literally getting mad about someone walking past their door is obviously struggling with life/happiness in general and so I decided just to leave her alone. To be honest, I just feel bad for her. The point is that even if you are in the right and know you are, sometimes the best thing to do is just walk away or stop talking. @@BlueDingo555 I get this but also kids have problems too and unfortunately sometimes parents can't drop everything to resolve it. Sometimes kids have meltdowns (whether it's just a normal emotional outburst for their age or a mental issue), and sometimes there is nothing a parent can do except wait for it to pass. You could ask, well why not leave the store? Well unfortunately, people do need to get food and can't always just run back home and wait for the problem to pass (if it's one of those problems that no discussing or distracting or discipline will solve). Restaurants are different, no one really needs to go to a restaurant, but I will admit that maybe a screaming child in a restaurant is unused to being in such a scenario and just needs to get used to it, and unfortunately sometimes people around have to get used to it too When I was growing up, I'd have extreme autistic meltdowns in shops because the lights were too bright, too noisy, too overwhelming for my little brain to handle. I couldn't be left at home alone (too young + autism lol), my dad had ditched so there was no extra parent to care for me and little money spare for a babysitter, so unfortunately, sometimes I had to go to the shop. My mother tried to accommodate for this by going to the shop when less people were in, but I'm sure plenty of those people were annoyed too. But it's such a tiny part of their day, and life goes on. Sometimes adults need to learn to just close their eyes and get on with it, like my mother had to. Admit they have no idea what the situation is, and there's nothing they can do, so there's no point judging anyone or growing more anger than even I held in my tiny body lol. If it's your own kid, I agree, you have to sort it as best as you can and raise your child to be a good human being. But if it's not your child, there's nothing you can do, there's no point imagining all scenarios in which you're the virtuous moral high ground and the other parent is scum of the earth because their kid is screaming or throwing tantrums. It happens.

I watched a video from Lawful Masses recently where a neighbourhood was terrorized by some jerk who was pissed off at everything. They threatened the neighbours, put cameras everywhere, assaulted neighbours, nearly ran over children, made up stories and continuously called the cops on one particular neighbour. It got to the point where the police believed him and arrested that particular guy. All the videos were submitted and the crazy guy's journal made it into evidence as well. The videos contradicted EVERYTHING that the crazy guy alleged and reported to police. The court basically told that crazy guy that he was a serious threat to everyone around him and that he should GTFO if he can't handle neighbours. I really hope that the neighbourhood sues the crazy guys family to make them move.

This happened to a friend of mine! The psychos were a family of three, a couple and their elderly mother. The couple had the old lady sleeping in a small sectioned off corner in the garage. They knew this because the neighbors camera picked it up when the loonies opened the garage door one day and moved out a room divider exposing the space. The old woman would come out and water the artificial flowers in the window boxes and I shit you not would cut the lawn with scissors. My friend would sit outside and watch his very young children play with RC cars or build things. He would sit on the porch or in front of the garage. The old woman would freak out, run outside and start taking pictures (of the kids too, which if this was me she wouldn't have eyes by the end of it). The loonies and my friend installed bunches of cameras. If anyone came over to my friends house - his friends, workers, family, whatever, the instant they parked the old loonie would run over and start telling them how dangerous my friend is and they shouldn't talk to him. Then would demand to know what they were talking about and doing. She called the police so many times. My friend called protective services to come out and check on the old lady and showed them the weird sleeping area in the garage. Well, the loonies were tipped off somehow, at at 2am that night/day/whatever they were seen on the cameras loading up luggage and the mother into a car and taking her away. She returned about a week later and nothing ever came of it. This is all happening over the expanse of a year or so. She files for a restraining order against my friend, claiming she feared for her life even though - with the cameras to prove it - he never stepped foot on her property. (They lived across the street from one another, with a house or two inbetween ). The judge granted a temp restraining order as they investigated the claim, since there were so many logs of police calls (even though no activity ever came from them and the officers also stated they did not believe the old lady had all her marbles). This instantly meant my friend, based off our state laws, could not have firearms in his house. As a hunter, he has some in a huge safe. He had to then pay an arms dealer or whatever they are called to store them, totaling about a thousand over this period of time. They both hired attorneys - the old woman prolonged the entire fiasco by firing lawyers every time a trial date would come up (this is in the middle of covid era so trials were pushed back quite a long ways). She would then hire new ones, who would put in for extensions and have them granted every damn time. So my friend is racking up fees and fees and fees because this old lady feels like my friend is talking through her tinfoil hat making threats to her while she mows the lawn with scissors every single actual day that ends in Y. Finally, after so long, and after her crazy was being exposed, my friend just decided to move. By this point the block hated them both because of the chaos and drama. Their kids felt unsafe, they felt unsafe. They ended up finding a fantastic house, in a neighborhood where they love everyone on their block and their kids are thriving. Sorry if this is confusing, typing on mobile while my kid screams at me for something lol. Scary this stuff can happen.

I was driving and got stuck at a red light. Some old bald guy was in a lifted f150 next to me. When I looked over, he was already yelling at me. I shrugged at him cuz I had no idea what he was saying or what I did. I gave a him a 🤷🏻♂️ “huh...?” And when the light turned green he came two lanes over to get next to me, instead of taking the left, cuz he was ina turn lane. Then kept trying to run me off the road with his truck, literally. We came to another red light, and I got my phone out to call the cops. He was behind me now, cuz the only other lane was a turn lane. When I looked in the mirror he was leaned over going through his glove box, likely to get a gun. When the cops answered I told them what street I was on, what was happening, and while I was trying to talk with only one hand on the wheel, the guy cut me off and slammed on his breaks, so I rear ended him. At this point, his rage kinda met reality and he went into more of a panic mode, knowing cops were gonna have to come, or he’d be fleeing an accident scene. So he pulled over and stayed in his truck silently. When cops arrived, they wouldn’t take my statement. They literally refused and kept telling me “take it up in civil court” and when I said he was trying to run me off the road they just said there’s no evidence... In the end, the cops gave me a ticket for running a stop sign when the dude was chasing me. Cuz I admitted I did it because I was fleeing a violent maniac. They didn’t ticket the guy or do anything to him. When he tried to contact my insurance tho, my insurance company said they believed my story and that HE was at fault. My lawyer also squashed the ticket proving the cops didn’t due their due diligence before ticketing me. Long story short, bad guy got away, and I was punished. I’m not some “defund the police guy” but I definitely don’t trust them to ever help me anymore...I either immediately flee, or if I feel I’m in true danger I take matters into my own hands before they can. Safe to say I own a gun now... Edit: he did tell the cops I had cut him off, but denied his road rage, claiming I was the aggressor and instigator. So apparently he was mad that I pulled in front of him somewhere. I don’t drive fast tho. My car is my grandpas old crown Vic. It’s a cruiser and doesn’t exactly go very fast aside from the freeway...so this was all over some delusion that I disrespected him on the road by getting in front of him.

Hell, God forbid some lunatic decides to start an argument with you and you decide not to say anything or better yet just try to walk away from him to quickly deescalate the situation, and it’s SPECIFICALLY because you DIDN’T interact with the guy is what made him pull out a gun or knife because he felt ignored. In my experience that only makes you a bigger target. When I was in elementary school (can't remember what grade) other kids would literally brutally bully me for no reason. When I say brutally I mean brutally, and when I say no reason I mean no reason. This one time I was just reading a book and this kid snuck up behind me and started choking me from behind, and the most insane part is I happened to be right behind the teacher when he did it, that's how brazen this particular kid was I tried to stand up to him one day, told him I was sick of his 💩, he beat the hell of me right there, in front of the entire class, and again the teacher, it caused have permanent damage to one of my eyes. I don't know what happened to that kid after highschool, but judging by the way he acted, he's probably in jail or the ground. But those experiences taught me that minding your own business won't protect you, if you're an adult stay strapped, if someone becomes a threat to you, end the threat, permanently.

@@goatslayer3160 I agree, bullys dont want equal fights, the search for who is weak and easy to abuse. In my opinion, there's more ways to go around it when they are kids, because they are probably going through something, even abuse, and that's how they deal with it, by making themselves feel stronger. I didnt know this when I was bullied so I couldnt know what theyd do if they heared this (probably just ignore it), but in my experience, they only disrespect authorities and "weaklings", so putting a good fight works, usually (I know its kind of a movie cliche). Of course some could be even more immature than that and just wanna have revengeance for your revegeance

This reminded me of Summer 2022. For some reason, people in my area where incredibly hostile to each other and we had daily reports of fights breaking out twice a day for petty things. In a local fair, some teenagers put themselves in front of a queue for a ride, a couple behind them complained, and what ensued was basically a mosh pit where the couple were left punched, stabbed and mugged by those teenagers. In a queue to enter a market, two guys fought for who's turn it was, the result was one of them stabbed the other almost to death. That same day, some miles from my grandmas house, a biscuit seller was walking down the beach and while stepping accidentally threw a some sand to a sitting couple. The guy got up, yelled at him, and then shot him, point blank. The distress caused a family nearby to engage the shooter, and they pulled their own guns, even tho no more shots were fired. For this one I know the victim made it to the hospital and recovered since. So yeah, times are wack.

Yeah, I'd also like to add the America-centrism of it all. Here in the Netherlands, things have only escaleted in three places and all with specific causes; Brabantish drug trade, Antwerp/Rotterdam drug trade and specific neighbourhoods that got mroe dangerous because of drill music. That's it. It's not the average person getting more violent. It's usually crime infiltrating society. And Dutch news is all about this. We see this as a problem we have to solve as a society. We don't blame the individual, we blame society. (We're not SJW's though. In the big cities, it's always immigrants/POC. We don't really blame them because they are at an disadvantage (these neighbourhoods don't provide the best economic oppertunities.) But no, don't think the Netherlands is some SJW utopia. Although we do show a little, just a little, more sympathy towards why these neighbourhoods are getting more violent. We don't just say 'oh, it's something 'they' have to figure out'.) Also, god, reading these comments I keep wondering how Americans don't just flee their country. You can get weapons in the Netherlands like knives. But that American stereotype of sitting on your porch with a gun? That would get you in jail in the Netherlands for a reeeeeeeally long time.

The cops have been at my school recently, I used to be a pretty energetic kid, and sometimes I still am, but anytime Im around people I don't know I'm quiet out of fear that somebody is insane. All together I just fear going outside, especially since I'm vocal about my ideas, and usually wrong at times because either I don't think through what I'm saying and have to backtrack, or because I didn't look into it too much.

I have always said this: the downfall of humanity will be the lack of education and discipline.
