I own an ARI Explorer Peak efat bike which I'm very much enjoying. One of the revelations was the TRP Trail EVO brakes, reviews I read about them were pretty lukewarm, and I thought on that I'd be swapping them out straight away. They _are_ lacking "the bling factor" but they've turned out to be very effective and functional, similar in power and feel to Shimano Saints.

I’m so stoked to camp in Everstoke in July. You didn’t mention your take on the Maven’s … another video?
@JaredHoff6 ай бұрын
@@mattspen Everstoke is a great camp location. You have to go ride Mills Peak. I’m working on a video about that trial right now. On the Maven’s,,, I didn’t like them at first. They didn’t feel like they grabbed enough on the initial bite. Im used to riding TRP DHR EVO and Shimano XT brakes. However, after riding with the Maven’s I started to like them on steep terrain and corners. The modulation allows you to slow down without locking up and sliding. I think I’d have to do more testing on them. I guess my initial impressions was that they’re good but not worth spending that much money on them for most riders like me.

@@JaredHoff I appreciate the detailed response!!! My DIY eBike (CYC x1 Pro Gen 4) is stupid fast and the current brakes aren’t enough, so I’ve been looking into Maven’s but saw mixed reviews. Mills Peak looks awesome! Will do for sure!

Sorry dude, it would have probably taken him a shorter period of time to just answer your quick question then go find a video, comment telling you to go watch the video and then linking it. I’ll answer your question. It doesn’t really seem like their is a really valid reason for rebranding aside from what the definition of “Ari” means and how that definition aligns more with their vision of the company and where they want to go in the foreseeable future. Rebranding is extremely expensive. I am a small business owner myself so I’m aware of how much it would cost me to rebrand and I’m not even close to the size of a big company like Ari. In my opinion, I’m sure there are legitimate reasons for the rebrand aside from the the definition of the word “Ari”

The rear brake line seems in an exposed place on the rear chainstay on all their bikes. Strange internal/external routing.
@JaredHoff6 ай бұрын
@@petedog9581 I actually appreciate that from a maintenance and upgrade perspective. Sometimes internal cables can be a pain when you need to work on your bike or replace parts.
@petedog95816 ай бұрын
@@JaredHoff I prefer the brake line come through the frame above the bb and zip tied neatly on the inside of the chainstay, where it is protected and neatly out of the way. It is not any harder to get to that brake line than these Ari bikes. They both run internally in the down tube.
@jeffjacksonmtb4 ай бұрын
@@petedog9581 Inside of the chainstay is actually a bad place to route a brake line. If mud, rocks, sticks, etc build up on the tire, those could damage the brake line. I've never had an issue with the current routing method.
@petedog95814 ай бұрын
@@jeffjacksonmtb Don't ride in conditions that will damage your bike and the trail. If you are not racing, you should never ride in those trail conditions. I have a RM Instinct and it has the simp[lest internal cable routing in the biz. If you cannot manage internal cables/brake lines yourself, get a mech to do your maintenance. Also. there is only about 3-4 inches of exposed cables /brake line exposed anywhere on the frame. Better engineering. Ari will refine their bikes over time. RM has been around for 40 years.

I ordered a Wasatch peak Comp Race. Liked the color and the overall setup. They messaged me and said they didn't have the color that I ordered. Okay, whatever. The other color is fine I guess. Then they send me the base model. Apparently they knew that they sent the wrong model and didn't bother to ask if I would mind. But assured me that I would like it just as much as the specific upgraded trim that I ordered and offered "swag" in exchange for the difference in price. Really shady way to treat someone who just spent a lot of money for one of your bikes. Wouldn't recommend.
