I just learned this stitch on craftsy she taught to go in from above, which I found much easier. I love this stitch now. But it was with floss not ribbon. This video is SO informative and I love that you do this stitch with so many different threads, thank you!

I'm so glad Vanessa. The beautiful thing about stitching is we can do a single stitch in so many different ways. Whatever works best is always the way to go, I think! ❤️💕❤️

I liked the split back stitch best. :) I do love the old back stitch any old way and I find it looks like knitting.

What I love about Ariane’s lessons, are the different stitches done in so many different fibers and weights. It helps me decide what fibers and weights I want to buy and try in my own style. Excellent camera close ups, variety and your voice is so easy to listen too. I just purchased my patterns from your Etsy shop. Gathering supplies and joined the Facebook groups. Looking forward to stitching along with everyone. Keep up the good work, you are doing great.

Thank you for this video, I only recently discovered your beautiful work. I love all those wonderful creative stitches you demonstrate. I am fairly new to embroidery, and I had done a little split stitch but not much, until I discovered it is a great filler. As a stitch in your work, definitely the ribbon is the best, on its own as a chain the split stitch is unimpressive, I can see why you are not fan of it. Thanks again.

Please do videos using different threads and stitches. There are several threads I haven't tried yet and am curious about. My grandmother taught me how to embroider penny squares with the backstitch and or the split backstitch with variegated floss. I hope they are still in a box in my attic.
@ArianeZurcher2124 жыл бұрын
Great! I will do that. Which threads are you curious about? 💕

Loved watching the split stitch/split back stitch with the different threads - thought the ribbon was pretty. I would really like videos dedicated to a specific thread. I’m always wondering how to use a thread in a different way. I think the bullion was very nice in the petite very velvet- I’m going to do that for sure. I need to watch you knot that really short length of petite velvet on the back. I like to get as much out of these expensive threads as I can and never know how to knot a really short length in the back. This might sound trivial, bit it was an “ah ha” moment for me.

Gwen Smith oh I’m so glad! I’ll definitely start doing thread specific videos. ❤️

I’ve only known the split back stitch as the split stitch. It’s great for letter and gloves lovely smooth curves compared to the split stitch. But in\ve not used it in years. Dedicating an entire video to one type of thread and what you can do with it is a fabulous idea. Looking forward to seeing what you come with. One request can you say what the comment our question you’re responding to would be helpful to us who missed the live even. At least if you do it as a live on Facebook you can see the comment questions when viewed later.

Sandi H. Hi Sandi, yes, I will try to do that, but everyone should be able to see the comments, even if they aren’t watching it live. It may be in each person’s settings but I will google and see what I can find. I see the comments on my computer. 💕

Kathy Ranger the scroll stitch is tricky. You can substitute the rosette chain or the basque. Either of those will give a similar look. 💕

Haha, well I worked on the piece for a few more hours and just posted it in the Stitching Circle group. I have to say, I kind of fell in love with the Split Back Stitch! It is really versatile and fun. I don't know that I ever heard what House Of Embroidery said was their most popular color. If you find out, let me know. ❤️

I went to the website you recommended and found prepackaged linen/burlap, cheesecloth etc What do you use these fibers for
@ArianeZurcher2124 жыл бұрын
I'm just playing around with the burlap and cheesecloth, but am cutting both up and applying to the hand dyed linen and then stitching on top of so that it creates a layered collage effect. It's lovely material to work with. I am going to be incorporating the cheesecloth into a new design in the next few months. 💕
