Snow Blower Wet Heavy Snow
@AriensChannel
A snow blower is a powerful machine designed to help remove snow and ice from driveways, sidewalks, and other outdoor areas. When it comes to dealing with wet and heavy snow, having the right snow blower can make all the difference.
The best snow blower for wet snow is one that is specifically designed to handle the extra weight and moisture of the snow. Ariens snow blowers are perfect for this job! These snow blowers typically have wider augers and impellers to help move the snow through the machine and prevent clogs or jams.
Overall, a snow blower can be a valuable tool for snow removal, especially in heavy and wet snow conditions. With the right machine and some basic knowledge of how to use it properly, you can keep your driveway and sidewalks clear and safe during the winter months.

When the snow is that wet and heavy, just clear half the width of the auger. The machine will not bog down like in this video. I bought my 8 hp Ariens new in 1978 and it’s still going strong here in New England.

TIP!!! - Clear that portion on the street to the left of your driveway to prevent the snowplow from blocking your driveway again. We cleared the snow out and were never blocked in. If the plow didn't pass, we cleared most of the road in front of our house.

I believe there is a spring to adjust the friction on your chute controls. It may need to be tightened as I see the chute moving around under load. Also, check your tire pressure, it may be a bit high. You get better grip with lower pressure. I can't remember what I set mine at, I think around 8 PSI. I thought the machine was struggling a bit, but I didn't realize it was the Compact model. I have a Compact 22, and while it is nice and small, a big part of the price you pay is an undersized auger that makes it harder for the machine to chew through wet snow.

On my Ariens 824 I put rubber extensions on the paddles and a 4" dia. PVC tube 20" long with 20 Lbs. of sand in it mounted on top of the auger housing with 4" dia. muffler clamps and it performs MUCH better in heavy wet snow now. Mine has much more aggressive tires than on the blower in your video and does fairly well as far as traction but depending on how it does this coming week during the predicted "Snowmageddon" we're supposed to get I may still put chains on it and fill the tires with RV antifreeze for more weight.

Watching you blow the snow, two things were evident. You should have the machine running a little faster to clear snow out the chute, Control your travel speed to be lower in order to give the machine's auger and impeller to clear the snow. You could hear the machine bogging down at the end of the drive, go slower in the deep heavy snow but keep your engine running high.
