Marcela and Irene showing off at the end. Not "just" backing vocalists. Maybe the most important singers of Ayreon shows. They can be heared most part of the whole show and they really bring everyone elses performances alive. Either one could easily lead any world class band.

Many years ago, I was crew cheif mainstage at Bloodstock Open Air (2009iirc), Blind Guardian played and I just had so much fun with Hansi and the band, I spent the set side of stage with one of the guitar techs dualing air guitars and having a blast. Hansi spent most of the day sat over at the smaller second stage, supporting the upcoming artists and generally being a thoroughly lovely human

@@paultgreen one of my stage hands thought he was their monitor engineer, Hansi went along with it for a while, before stepping onto the stage for their set 😂 after their set he arranged for a crate of beer to be set aside for the stage hands with a note: "to the stage hands, you are the real rock stars here. I'm just a nerd who sings songs about fantasy worlds, and as I look like a sound engineer, I can always put my hand to that! Keep being rock stars, the festival can't happen with you hardworking men and women, With love, Hansi - Blind Guardian frontman, and novice monitor tech"

@@Frantiqdrummer Of course, Ayreon is an astronomical project in terms of talent. However, even among these geniuses Mills stands out because of his creativity and execution. The fact that his section in this song was entirely his idea is astounding. According to Arjen he just sent him the lyrics: "01011001" and told him to go for it, and the result was one of the best intermissions in an Ayreon song ever, and that's saying something.

I think I took about 4 photos through the whole gig, and I'd say most people stood around me did the same. With exception of the bootlegs that are on KZbin, I think most people were very respectful of Arjen's desire to have a video without a sea of screens.

Rediscovering Ayreon--and in particular, obsessing over the groove under the "I must have been blind" part (8:20) of this song--helped me to get through 262 extremely lonely days of lockdown in Melbourne, Australia. Being in the crowd in Tilburg for 01011001 and then hearing it played live for the first time felt like the closing of a difficult circle in my life. Thank you, Arjen. Your "cheesy" music means so much more to people than you probably realise. Thank you, Arjen's on-stage friends, for helping to bring it into the real world.

I NEVER ever thought this could be done live so smoothly. The complexity, the number of artists, the harmonies (Michael Mills' part was just crazy hard). The amazing solos - guitars, violin, flute, keyboards... I just missed Tommy Karevik, still believe his performance can't be bested (or maybe I'm too much in love with his way of singing, though this performer did great as well). And what about Marcela and Irene at the end? They left me FLOORed (pun intended 😂). Thank you mr Lucassen 🥰🥰

"This performer" is Daniel Gildenlow, one of the most gifted singers (and musicians) of the century. I remember him saying he had the flu when he got back from the shows. Not sure how affected he was, but he's sung far harder stuff than the lines he sings here throughout his career.

I remember the absolute shock I felt when I heard the first few notes and realized they were going to play this song live. I legitimately thought it never would or even could be performed live. I was so impressed by how close he got to Tobi Sammet's style for that section! Tobi's voice is not an easy one to mimic, but Jaycee really got his wide vibrato just right, but still sounded natural like he wasn't trying to force someone else's voice. That's a lot harder than it sounds!

I will always be amazed with AA Lucassen work. Once again tears dropped after listening to all these artists performances. It is just beautiful, the amount of talent required to sound this good, so cohesive so in sync. This is on my bucket list, I got to see of this shows life. But the most important thing in my opinion, is it that you can tell that they are enjoying themselves a lot while they performed, and that's is transferred to the audience. So grateful to follow this band and AAL, big way to keep the great music alive.

Funny, the voice I missed the most from the original was Michael Eriksen. His "Together" in particular is so unique. But of course Anneke did a lovely rendition as well.

Just brillant. Every artist was incredible, Marcela and Irene make such an amazing duo, Maggy is incredible... I'm still crying tears of joy, specially with Mike Mills' section, it's just impressive. Seeing it now in KZbin isn't less spectacular than seeing it live :P

Marcela & Irene are always impressive. Two of the greatest voices in prog or metal. Must admit I had a very low opinion of Maggy's performance on the "Ayreon Universe" dvd from a couple years back - but she seems much improved here and shows she can do something more than just the gravely voice.

Just came came home after a nice workout. I took a shower, got myself a cup of coffee and sat down to relax. First thing I see is this.. Now I am so hyped again that I have plenty of energy to repeat that workout!. Lets goooo!.

To this day I am still in disbelief that I had the pleasure to follow a course on a piece of automation software with five other people, of which one was MARCEL!? I could not believe my eyes that I did that course with the live guitarist of one of my childhood to adulthood favourites in music. And I'm used to A LOT mind you having lived with my stepfather for 30 years that played in 013 and cover bands and recently got a signed copy of Supersonic Revolution AT OUR HOME!

Ik vind het vervelend te horen dat het niet zo goed gaat maar ik wens je sterkte en beterschap ❤️🩹 Prednison zal wel helpen, heb er zelf ook goede ervaringen mee. Het heeft bij langdurig gebruik wel wat bijwerkingen. 👋

Maar daar maak ik me niet druk over. Ik heb op dit moment alleen kaartjes voor EPICA in september, golden circle tickets voor beide avonden . Niet druk maken over het medicijn, komt allemaal goed, als je ze maar niet te lang neemt, ligt ook aan de sterkte en ik vermoed dat ze niet heel erg zwaar zijn voor jou, dus nogmaals, niet druk over maken. Zie je morgen/straks 😜
