Doed + river rocks gives me over 10k stone in 5-10 minutes. Plus an anky and Rhynio can get me 12k raw metal in 30 minutes or so

You can also use an anky up the rivers smashing the rocks. Does the same thing. And the anky moves at warp speed in shallow water.

The south bay have the most insane amount of Metal node and crystal underwater, the best spot to use dunkie on those.

This is definitely probably a good tip if you’re desperate on PVP and don’t have any other options but I’m any other situation. in the amount of time you harvested that one stack of metal, I could’ve gotten five stacks of metal on my Anky by any of the mountains so this is definitely proof that the dunkey needs a metal harvesting buff because it’s supposed to be the anky of the ocean I guess but that gather rate is absurdly slow I can get nearly 100 metal per whack on a metal rock with mine.

I started playing ark a few months before the launch of Extinction and I have never tamed a Dunkleosteus. I'll consider it when ASA releases on Console since it'll probably be a while until Scorched releases, so we'll have to spend a lot of time on the island.

​@xsdcx_tv9260 striders don't exist in ASA yet so that's out of the picture. The entire idea of using a dunke instead is for avoiding other players and taking advantage of the resource abundance deep underwater. Anky may get more, but it also can't get it as safely.

@@xsdcx_tv9260 I guess it's a kind of pick your poison situation. You want a lot of metal in heavily contested areas at risk of getting into player conflict? Use an anky. You want a little less metal in a player safe area but your at the risk of the entire ocean's fauna? Use a dunkle. I might use the dunkle just to change things up. I've always used anky's and only really used stryders a few times.

@@xsdcx_tv9260 if you have a half-decent Dunky, shark won't be able to do anything against you (well, except if you have as many on your tail as you would normally have in caves, but even then, still a lot safer than if you need to fight against players)

Gotta say when i played genesis 1 in ase I loved my dunky. Ocean biome living was one of things they got right about that dlc. Shame they didn't pre-include some Ocean platforms for Asa but I get that they were on a time crunch.

its not because of "time crunch", ocean plats werent in the game until gen1 and they likely wont be until new gen1 pretty sure they are still in the game files among all the other dlc stuff for modders to use

I know that they do intend to release the dlc maps in turn, but the way marketing pushed it for a while during the first announcements made it seem like they were going to have much more content remastered before release day. I am very happy they chose to spend more time for more qol features over just reskinning the game. Still going to love any modder who makes some version of the Ocean platforms available sooner.

the only problem with the dunky is the massive turning circle, and being stunned by jelly fish, thankfully there aren't that many in the ocean from what I've seen eels are nothing I mean you deal reduced damage but with the dunky they already have reduced incoming damage plus with a ridiculous saddle they take almost no damage except maybe from mate boosted alpha sharks with 9/10 sharks then the damage starts to roll in but then they still tank it like a pro

I have been using this strat for a while now. I found the best place to use him is right at the entrance of hard underwater cave. There are tons of those rounded rocks that tend to be 1/3 metal 2/3 stone. I scoop up an easy 20-30k in the chambers just before the cave spawns.

Except me apparently. I always have been using the Dunki even way before ASA. Breed one especially with damage mutations and you get a ton. Oil, metal, stone. Although a underwater Anklo is way better. Aklo with Oxygen and Weight mutations

In Ark survival ascendant the most scary , difficult, annoying, stressful, overwhelming thing is the ocean. Every 500 meters you will encounter a Alpha Meg with 5 mate boosted megs and 4 mate boosted mantas it’s ridiculous how much alphas you can encounter every where I hate it

"Stupid amount of metal...." but the ratio to stone is 10:1 you could get that much metal in two or three nodes with a pickaxe and argy..... now you will have to park the dunke and get a tame to fly it back to base anyway. I wouldn't call this great.

Seems like you missed the point... The point of this video is a safer alternative to harvesting metal on a PvP server. Not once did he say this was a "new ability" or better for harvesting stone/metal than a doed/anky. And I wouldn't call 900 metal in 5 minutes on vanilla settings "BARELY any metal" as you said...

I recommend that you should try the Anklo underwater. From old Ark I use Anklo whenever I don't feel like using Dunki because its slow lol. Boost Oxygen on Anklo and its so good. Still going to use my same strategy in ASA too, especially since the ASA mountains suck now, so bumpy😂😅
