I've only been playing a week. Built this raft and tamed my first Rex the next night. Thanks man. Just make sure any beds or boxes or whatnot you put on the boat go in the little shed or they get destroyed, even on the roof.

You could put the ramp on the other side and take some extra time when "parking" the raft to make sure that the back is clipped onto ground, that way you won't have to worry about anything you taming getting stuck on the ground when you travel away. I had no idea about the pillar thing though, that's incredibly neat!

a tip for getting the very first foundation on and centered is to: get a pillar in you hot bar, mount the raft, select the pillar while still mounted, then just looking up and down you can place the pillar and it's 100% centered, after that you will have a snap point for a foundation next to the pillar, then delete the pillar and place a second foundation in its place. Boom, you have a perfectly aligned and centered foundation to start off your build. I then use the pillar trick to sink down the foundations so they sit just below the wooden base of the raft.

For the missing router foundation. Use a pillar next to it and sink the foundation over the router one lower you can click drive through the foundation.

Yaaay, there it is! Good to see the difference why you start with a pillar. The time you save lowering the foundation is awesome. Also good to see the size difference of the two rafts with the foundations on them. Jumping into the water was too dangerous for me when I built my taming raft so I just placed the foundations underneath the thatch ceilings while standing on it. Good that you mentioned not to build when you are too close to the beach. Happened to me and I was wondering why it won't work. Very nice tipps. People can now get some awesome tames with their rafts. Thanks for doing that video.

Agreed! Although i think hes already done this actually. i cant remember the playlist it was on, but he made one with a gate at the end and pillars all around so a ptera could fly through but the argy would get stuck. Pretty neat.

At the point where you don't put a foundation over the rudder just put a pillar next to it and drop a foundation one snap point down on the rudder area. Fully protected, can still drive from underneath i think too.

You can put a Stone foundation in the raft’s lever if you get the level down only for that tile with the same pillar technique you did before, you’ll be able to drive it, I just did that in the official server and it worked! And the raft won’t be vulnerable...

If you select the pillar, then press drive, the pillar automatically centers perfectly. DON'T WAST TIME AND RESOURCES TRYING TO GET IT STRAIGHT!

Use 3 pillars around drive shaft to make finding the lower snap point easier to fit foundation instead of using trap door to save tiles.

You only need to place pillars because they lower themselves if you look downwards each time you place them next to eachother so its cheaper in recourses.

I'd the very same built using the trapdoor to acess the raft, but somehow I can only navigate it from the bottom, diving. I tried to open the upper trapdoor but I can't get to take control from above. I'm pretty sure my building is aligned.

I did another taming boat, but it was stuck evertime a rex was on my boat. Some sort of glitch I guess. Would it be possible to build your boat but instead of putting walls on the sides, putting some dino gateways to be able to transport a tamed rex? And still be able to transport a rex during taming?

Did some update fix this? I've built this raft several times before, the last time just a few months ago, but now I get the foundations sunk about 3 times and the 4th time, i can see the green outline at the lower snap point, but when it materializes, it always stays level with the previously placed foundation, not at the lower snap point that the green outline clearly showed. It's driving me bonkers! Been trying to get it to snap right for an hour now. I would just stop trying but it needs to be one or two points lower to encase the raft completely. This is why I wonder if they "patched" this as a "bug".

Either I'm doing something wrong, or they changed the size of the raft since this video was made. I'm starting at the same exact position... But no matter what I do, the foundations don't line up the same way. Instead of stopping right before the steering column, the foundation overlaps it so it's only got about 1/16th of a foundation over the water towards the rear... Any suggestions? Or should I just give up on being able to go up through the trap door, since it'll be completely blocked by the raft.

Yeah that is what I would have done. Just lower it on the one spot. However it is kind of cool that he can reach the rudder from under water. Probably a decent feature if you're building an underwater taming cage.

Being able to reach the rudder underwater is a lifesaver. I've rescued myself countless times by using the rudder after I've fallen off the boat while under attack; especially at night since the word "raft" glows and it centered on the rudder.

How big should the raft taming pen for a bronto be? Is 2x2 enough here too?

you cannot tame a Bronto on a raft...no dino that can carry a platform saddle, Bronto, Paracer, diplo, can even be carried by a raft. You can shoot the Bronto from the raft, but he physically cannot set foot on-board, Giga's cannot either (although that one i have not tried myself, as i don't have a metal raft)

Does this build work for spinos? As I swear they are able to get out of taming pens a lot more easily than a Rex can. It seems like I need to have it 3 high sometimes and if I have a ramp too close to those was it appears that they step up through the wall onto the ramp and run out.

if you were to build this out of metal, would it be possible to lure and tame a giga? I'm assuming you'd need 3 long for him to not just walk over the top?

+Josh Cauchi I think it would need to be 4 walls high so he doesn't step over the walls and so the ramp would extend out 4 tiles as well which severely limits your space. But the real problem would be how the giga interacts with the raft because gigas can't stand on rafts, they just slide off like quetzals do. It might just glitch through the walls if that's the case.

Great. I got this built last night and me and my buddy are gonna take it out tonight and try and tame a rex.

We had a few failed attempts with the Rex escaping but we finally had success by making the walls three high instead of two. I'm not sure what was happening but the rex just seemed to step straight over the trap instead of falling in when it was two high. Buggy game is buggy I guess. Anyway we now have a sweet level 65 T. Rex! Cheers!

nope should work, sometimes placing the foundation at the lower snap point is a sod, try crouching, but the snap point is there.

@@TimmyCarbine the building system and the combat system are really good in Conan. The building system is actually way better than ARK. Everything else gets boring though; especially since you can't transfer your characters to other servers and there is only one map.

+Jake Whitehead Check out my Adv Taming raft video for the Spino, as for the Giga, unfortunately it will just glitch through the raft. They can't go on rafts at all, you would need to use the metal dino gate method to trap a giga, but only on land

Try placing other, temporary pieces to create more snap points. You can destroy them after the ramp snaps.
