Important to note that stats or traits that are modified below zero are considered zero for the purpose of the test. If Agnes investigates with her 2 intellect, and draws a -4 token, her -2 result functions as a zero. If the location’s shroud is 1, she fails. But if she has used flashlight, the shroud is reduced by 2 to become -1, which - yes - also functions as zero. With an effective test of zero vs. zero....she successfully investigates to discover a clue. See Modifiers p15 Rules Reference.

So if the skill test was successful, Roland would get to draw 1 card and not Agnes right ? Even if you help agnes with 1 card the text on that card only applies to you and not your partner am I right ?

When Agnes paid to play the Blinding Light card before attempting to Evade the monster, did that count as 1 action? And then the Evade skill test and all of those cards counted as a 2nd action?

Hey Cindy. Welcome to the game. We saw you posting on BGG. Blinding Light initiates the Evade action as it has “Evade” written in bold on it. Committing additional cards to a test or reacting to a test (by playing lucky) is all part of the same action. So she only used one action and has two more left. Hope that helps.

DO event cards fire off if used in a skill test? Wish you had shown that, a skill test using an event card

Regardless of the type of test or what initiates it when you commit cards to a test to increase your skill total by adding its matching icons treat the rest of the card as blank. Totally blank. Unless it is a Skill card which has an additional effect such as Guts or Vicious Blow.

Very useful video! While playing the tutorial, I Investigated to get clues. During the Skill Test, I drew a skull Chaos Token. The Scenario Reference card says “X is the number of Ghoul enemies at your location.” Buuuuut I’m unsure what to do from here 😅 Do I win the skill test but have to engage a Ghoul? Or do I have to defeat the ghoul before I collect my winnings? Where is said ghoul? Please help. I’d really like to learn this game…

The best place to ask rules questions is somewhere like Reddit or BoardgameGeek.com. But in this instance count up the number of Ghoul enemies at your location. Then replace the letter X with that number. Treat it as if that number were printed on the Chaos token instead of the Skull. If there are no Ghoul enemies at your location the number would be zero. Calculate the skill test normally.

If you play a card like blinding light, which creates an evade action with a skill check against willpower, do I get to use the +1 willpower from the blinding light card in the skill check?

Blinding light doesn’t add any willpower bonus. The icons on the top left of a card are only used when you “commit” a card to a skill test i.e. discard it for its icons, not use it for its text effects.

Riddle me this: Say I have a knife in one hand and a machete in the other. Would I receive the benefits of both items on a single fight action?

No, you cannot use both knife and machette at once - each of these cards require an action to use (see the arrow symbol of action on each of them). However, there are cards that give you bonus to a particular skill (in this case fight skill) together with the other cards - e.g. beat cop (so if you have all these cards in play, i.e. knife, machette and ceat cop, you will receive bonus from 1. ceat cop and 2. either knife of machette).

If i am say choosing to attack a enemy card and i choose to use a weapon that has the 'action' symbol on it, does the attack then take two of my actions?, one for the attack and one for using the weapon card?

It would be only one action. The "fight" designator on the weapon just lets you know what you will be doing.

If she had the resource to play lucky does she have to use another action to resolve that card?

Lucky is played while you are still resolving a test before any new action would start, so no. Don’t forget tests can happen at any time such as during the Mythos phase when resolving a Treachery card. Plus Lucky has the FAST keyword which means it never uses an action. Are Skill Cards kept in hand after use? Meaning, unlike using an Asset or Event card, after committing them for their skill icon(s), you do not discard them?

Thank you. I was confused, because Unexpected Courage states that only one can be used per skill test. Unexpected Courage has 2 wild icons. I assumed that if you used one icon, you could keep the card, but if you used both icons, you had to discard it. Also, the rules state that Skills are considered "innate" abilities. So, I thought. "If they are innate or learned abilities, they stay with you." I was wrong. Thanks again.

@@Skidd333 A bit late now but I think that event, asset etc cards, if used in a skill test, are discarded after being used in the test. Just like skill cards.

Does Roland´s ´Guts´ card stay in play? Because this is an 'Innate' thing. Which might mean it stays in play, because, well, it is bestowed upon him by birth (I guess)... Thanks

No. ALL cards committed to a Skill Test for their icons are discarded after the test is resolved.
