Very likely Apple is working on hedging risk from Google Android. This is not only on software side but more likely on hardware. If some of the inference can be done on the device, it would reduce heavylifting in the cloud and make the system more efficient (this is especially important with multimodal where bandwidth is limited and mobile phones can do great job in offloading). It's very likely Apple is working closely with OpenAI on next gen hardware to be ready for partnerships.

200 years ago this was all about books and novels that could occupy the long hours of in activity, without the mental effort of continuous learning that would now be Actual Intelligence, and Artificial synthesis could be considered "artistic". In other words, anything you can imagine without the intrusion of Actuality.

I think apple glasses not goggles with real time ai and AR would be another iPhone moment for them. Apples probably one of the few people that could pull it off due to its hardware and software prowess. But I think that they’d need OpenAI’s help initially but eventually could do ai by themselves . Tesla has a similar moat in terms of hardware and software/ ai but thing is both companies have china vulnerabilities.
