I've never heard this one before, thanks for posting. I just watched Alice's Restaurant last night (it being late November and all) and I hadn't had enough Arlo. What a treasure trove of rare performances you have. Again, thanks for sharing.

I saw him perform this song at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX. I am not sure of the year, but it was with my first wife, so it was between 1980 and 1989. My understanding is that he has never recorded this song, but I still sing it from time.

Ah, we were all so young back then! I saw Arlo the year before this at Bogart's in Cincinnati when I was 19.

I must have sang this song more than 500 times. I like the original version I learned from Pete Seeger, no doubt where Arlo got it as well.

Thanks Jackie, there's something funny, amusing about Arlo. He's not over the top funny as if he were a comedian. Yet funny and as someone else wrote 'when I hear Arlo I think everything's going to be alright.' I listened to City Of New Orleans, Cooper's Lament, The New Motorcycle (Significance of the Pickle)Song and others. Before there was internet. Thanks I love The Pause of Mr. Clause. Ground hog, Oh Mom, among others. I didn't realize his on going colaboration with Pete Seeger. All good and the Guthrie Family on Stage together- Oni, and the dark girl with the long frizzy hair.

My new favorite Groundhog Day song. (Ok, I admit I never had a favorite before.) I’ll have to play this every February 2, just as we start each Thanksgiving with “Alice’s Restaurant “. Pretty soon, you could have all the holidays covered!

There used to be a 'Motorcycle Song' video from this concert somewhere online. Can't find it anymore :( pity, it was brilliant! Anyone feel free to reply with a link if you know where to find it.

I have never met Arlo Guthrie. I love Arlo Guthrie. I feel good after I listen to Arlo Guthrie. Let's me know in his way. Everything is going to be alright, ok. I'd like Jimny Buffet, Arlo is funny in his own way funnier to me. It's the stories before the songs that's a big part... I got to see him in the early eighties along with Pete Seeger.

I could find a more serious song to say this,, but Arlo is a National Treasure. Different personality than Pete Seeger and his Dad Woody, but A National Treasure in his own right.

Where I'm from the farmers hate groundhogs they eat so much hay that they would pay us to kill them. But I'm from the country and animal rights people will hate on this one oh well. I think more people should tell stories during a concert but nobody could tell them like you can Arlo
