About Playdead your wish is mostly already granted because the team behind Inside have split in three after the game releases and two of them have already launched a game since. Somerville (with the Playdead aesthetic but not that good) and Cocoon (with a genius level design, very good!) . Playdead is planning to release their third project in 2024.

I might get it, but I don't like the new art style differences. I think even though it's been reduced, the remake's art style is still too paper-y, whereas in the original game it wasn't as obvious. Things like the water in rougeport or just the textures in general. I'll probably get it if there's significant extra content but otherwise....meh. It also doesn't give me confidence that paper mario is back, as the current direction seems to be all from Kensuke Tanabe. Sticker star was the first game he directed after all, and the series future games were all very similar. So if he's still around then it's probably not going to change.

I think my biggest wish is just a no nonsense switch successor. I want a backwards compatible, replacement Switch. Sometimes that’s just a clean upgrade in pretty much every way. A PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X transition if you will.

Pikmin 4 sold massively well in Japan. With those numbers I experted to sell 5m worldwide but wasn't the case, western didn't buy a lot of Pikmin. It's like 50% of Pikmin 4 sales where in Japan.

I don't think we have anything to worry about with TTYD selling well. Big fans of TTYD and previous-gen Paper Mario will be buying it in droves to show their support and play the games on modern hardware. Meanwhile current-gen Paper Mario fans will be getting it to show support for Paper Mario in general and to see what all the fuss is about. Between those two groups alone I suspect TTYD will at minimum sell as well as Origami King did.

Honestly, I feel like Arlo's improved his improv Christmas song singing; the rhymes hit even better this time around! To speak to your question about the new Playdead game, they might not have a new one, but Cocoon, the indie goty winner, was created by two former employees of that studio. Maybe you should check that out and see if it scratches your itch?

I wish for Thousand Year Door to be as good as I hope. I love Super to pieces, and I've heard you hype it up for years. Im definitely buying it as soon as I can. I also wish for Metroid Prime 4 news. Ive fallen in love with metroid over the years, and while its been difficult to get into Prime, with the remastered version it's slowly starting to click. I'd love to see it on the new console as well, really show of how incredible it looks. Merry Christmas!

I thought PlayDead did make a new game this year with Cocoon, but Jeppe Carlsen (the Lead Designer for Limbo and Inside) left them to direct his own new game with Cocoon. So uh, if you haven't played that yet Arlo, you may find a personal 2023-Hidden Gem for you with it! =D

I want, if we get a Pokemon Announcement, for it to be a smaller announcement, like a spinoff title or big-ish mobile game (akin to Pokemon Unite) that has another studio working on it. I want the team at Game Freak to take more time on the next title. I know they get about 2-3 years for every generation, but I want them to have a bit longer, whether that's to create something for the next Nintendo console or to make a more stable game. Scarlet and Violet are quickly becoming a favorite pokemon game for me thanks to the great story (for pokemon) and fun characters and new pokemon introduced, but are held back quite a bit due to their performance on the switch. I want the next pokemon game to NOT have performance controversy or issues and would rather the spiciest of drama the games have be that one particular design ticked one guy off, and I think more time to develop would help that. If I had to get a little greedy, I would like if the next mainline game IS open-world like S/V to PLEASE have the gyms be level-scaled, at least to a set level depending on when you challenge them, that would make subsequent playthroughs much more interesting and fun. My non-nintendo random wish would be for the recently announced game at The Game Awards Jurassic Park Survival. I want that to have a decent story and look pretty good. The past two Jurassic Park/World games are fun (Evolution 1 & 2), but I'm ready for some horror stuff and Survival looks like it's going to scratch that itch. The small snippets of gameplay looked good, but I want more to get a good grasp on the game. Here's hoping for a new Switch!

Well, we did *not* get a dlc trailer for Elden Ring, sadly... It could take quite a while, or maybe they'll suddenly release a trailer to announce it for february or something. Anything could happen. Besides the trailer and release date, I very much doubt the DLC will be a seperate campaign. All their previous DLC's for the souls games and Bloodborne have simply been a new area that you get to via a new teleportation spot. It's efficient (letting players use the whole pool of weapons and spells for the whole game, without having get any item twice), and it lets the whole gameplay experience become a greater whole. I do agree the whole NG+ thing is somewhat of an issue. That's why I myself have already started a new save file and gotten a little further into the game already, but not crossed the halfway point. I think what would be best (assuming it won't be a whole new campaign) is if the dlc adds a new sidequest that guides you from the start of the game to the DLC entrance, and adds new classes that start off with all new weapons or spells from te DLC. I think with these two steps, a returning player will have a new experience when starting a new save file, so it won't feel like you're just playing through hours and hours of the base game that you've already played through 5 times.

10:40 I kind of hope that Next Level games is put in charge for the Mario & Luigi series now that AlphaDream is gone. They're good with animating the Mario cast and making their personalities shine, which is something Mario & Luigi has also always excelled at.

I didn't even think about that, but now that it's out there I totally see it as a possibility... even though I secretly fear Nintendo may see Mario & Luigi as "belonging" to the former Alphadream devs or seeing M&L as a series that sells too little to "earn" Next Levels attention... but as far as slickly animated, super-charming games in Mario's universe Next Level totally feels like THE studio to carry Alphadreams torch.

Similar to your wish on Pikmin 4 last year, I hope the Factorio DLC doesn't get pushed to 2025. The bigger one is that i actually get through some of my backlog, which is currently (in approximate order) Dyson Sphere Program, Captain of Industry update 2 once it's out, Factorio DLC once it's out, Finish Pikmin 4 side content and post-game, Dwarf Fortress, Advance Wars 2, Mario+Rabids Kingdom Battle DLC, Mario+Rabids Sparks of Hope, TotK, Cities: Skylines 2 once the Traffic Manager mod gets ported in, Legends Arcus, Crashlands, Portal, Portal 2, and probably a couple I'm forgetting.

My 2024 Wish List: 1. If it is indeed true a new console is coming out, have it be dual-screen like those supposed leaked patents. That could lead to so many new games, and could have DS games return. 2. We get a name for the new Mass Effect game (And hopefully those workers will be compensated.) 3. Something to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Donkey Kong Country for SNES. (Imagine of the guys behind the Mario RPG remake remade the game!) 4. I’ve had a hard time picking back up totk too. Because I feel like it’s a game I already played. As cool as some of the new additions are, it’s the same map, same music, same art style, same towns, same cooking and healing, same armor, still collecting map locations with visions of events from the past, same empty fields I ran across already. Once you’ve seen one sky island you’ve seen them all. There isn’t much there. The atmosphere is better in the temples but they are so easy and so short for only having four (or five) of them. Having non linear dungeons just isn’t challenging or intimidating. I’m not worried I’ll get lost or stuck trying to figure out how to progress. Just hit four easy switches in any order. I was expecting them to change a lot more than they did considering how long it took and they were reusing the map. It doesn’t feel like a new game, I feel like I picked up botw again with new game plus. There is just so much down time in between everything. I think that’s why I prefer the more linear 3d titles and the 2d Zelda’s are my favorite. I hope we get a new 2d entry in 2024.

My wish is a traditional 3D zelda game. We know they said they aren't working on ToTK DLC (even though I think the game could really use it). The amount of people who are now fans of the series but have never played the old style of 3D game is immense. It's been 12 years since Skyward Sword released. For 2.5D Zelda we've had the Link's Awakening rework at least, but I've met so many newer fans who only know the BoTW style games as Zelda.

Here’s my personal wishlist. -put wapeach in a game. -dlc for pikmin 4 also fix those things wrong with it - dlc for suika game with an added multiplayer for online and battle royale -bug fables 2 trailer and release date announcement (yes it is confirmed)
